The USGA Faith Committee is pleased to have Prof. Roni Jo Draper, Ph.D., lead a discussion on how to make Elder's Quorum, Relief Society, Sunday School, and our wards in general more Queer/SSA-friendly. This is a safe opportunity for newly-called and veteran EQ, RS, and SS presidencies, instructors, and leaders of any kind to come and have an open dialogue on how to meet the needs of our queer/ssa members in our meetings and stewardships.
Prof. Draper is a professor in teacher education at BYU (Brigham Young University) and recently wrote a letter to the editor of The Daily Universe titled "BYU challenge: Helping everyone feel loved" (bit.ly/1qMLbjZ), and the letter was shared very frequently via social media. She is doing a lot to be at the forefront.
"As a church, nobody should be more loving and compassionate. Let us be at the forefront in terms of expressing love, compassion and outreach. Let’s not have families exclude or be disrespectful of those who choose a different lifestyle as a result of their feelings about their own gender." (Elder Quentin L. Cook, mormonsandgays.org)
