- In today’s Heroic Chat, we are joined by Phil Stutz.
Phil graduated from City College in New York, received his MD from New York University, and did his psychiatric training at Metropolitan Hospital. He then worked as a prison psychiatrist on Rikers Island before going into private practice in New York City. He moved to Los Angeles In 1982, where he has been practicing ever since.
Along with his coauthor, Barry Michels, Phil wrote the New York Times bestseller The Tools, and its sequel, Coming Alive. He has also coached Brian for over six years, who considers Phil to be his Ultimate Guide, and was featured in the recent Netflix documentary Stutz.

My brother died of Parkinson's He didn't have the bad movement that Phil has like Michael J Fox. This is my 2nd time listening to this and I imagine I will watch all of these Chats over and over again. Brian I just love your insight. Every snippet you say about your family brings me joy. Going on a daughter daddy date with E2 is just precious.

Brian you expanded on the first principle of Life force - relationship with body, mastering the basics and controling the controllables. Can you expand a bit more on the second tear please - relationship with others, how is this work to be done, what is there to focus on, etc. The self work is pretty self explanatory - do the subconscious work, journal, explore core beliefs and values, etc. Appreciate it!
Phil Stutz, Jonah Hill (speaking to his Part X- I related to that and felt the actual love he was sending him) and Gabor Mate for helping me know, I'm not alone and "Normal" is leading to burnout of our society. Also, helped me understand my purpose, for now (it could change) to be a safe container for my children, including my Part X!
