I’m a HUGE fan of Phil and Barry's first book, The Tools. Coming Alive is kinda like The Tools Part 2. In this book, we get four new tools to go along with the original five tools. Big Ideas we explore include how to connect to our Life Force, defeat Part X (their name for that part of each of us that gets in the way), build our confidence and learn to see problems as gifts as we live a GREAT life.

Brian this is great. I was considering recording a summary just like you have done here, for this book and The Tools. I sometimes cannot remember what I read a couple years (sometimes a couple of days :) after finishing, so this summary/review is perfect! Keep it up brother!

I've started listening to the audio book. My interest is piqued. While it makes sense to me (I've also only got through about 10% of it) and I recognize parts of myself that hold me back, how about if there are things outside of us that get in our way. For example, I have the qualifications to teach and in fact I do at a university. I teach a fair bit. However, despite having the same qualifications as some of my peers, I work on contract. I long to be a tenured professor but the system is broken. One of these jobs only gets offered once every five to 10 years and then there end up being 20 to 60 people vying for one position. I do what I can to improve myself and I admit that there were things that I could have done to be further along the path. All I can do is recognize partex and progress so that I'm a better candidate. It's still very difficult to achieve and there are many people with master's degrees are phds that are in the same position. Worse than the US actually then up here in Canada. I suppose we just need to recognize that there are some things that are out of our control? Work on ourselves and recognize that the chances of ever being offered tenure is extremely rare. Is that the case?
is phil stutz okay? he seems to have disappeared. he's ill isn't he? does he do private therapy? zoom therapy? what's the cost?
i have just begun the book the tool and i am only on the first tool/habit brig it on i love pain pain make me stronger . How long should i be with first tool before i move on so i don't forget or drop the tools and move on ?
