RE "Macbeth.": I went to a play with some friends, one of them said "Macbeth" while we were in the theatre. That night, a lamp blew out in the middle of act 1, an important prop went missing in act 2, and the sound was mildly fritzing periodically through the show. (This was neither the first nor the last time we saw this play at this theatre during this run, this was the only night these problems happened.) The following monday, the friend that said "Macbeth" was dropped from the play he was in at the time. Yeah, it could be all coincidence, but why tempt fate?
I have a similar story, from when I was in my high school's production of Annie. During one of the shows, I said "Macbeth" in the green room during intermission. I only had two scenes in Act 2, one at the very beginning, and one at the very end. Just after I got off stage from the first scene, out of nowhere, I got the worst nosebleed I've ever gotten in my life! I was bleeding for most of Act 2, and got it to stop just seconds before my cue to go back on. I have become THAT person, to shush people when they say "Macbeth", even when I was in a production of the Scottish play.
