I've had the Ekster Parliament Wallet for about 2-3 years and love it. Card mechanism has not faltered not even one time. Was taking a serious look at the Ridge Wallet but having to remove EVERY card to grab one in the middle seems like such an inconvenience. Thanks for video !!
I ended up with the aluminum Ridge. I always get a bit worried with moving parts, and if they will break over time or not. In my research I found a 50-50 as to the "trigger" reliability. The Ridge slided in and out of my pocket easily, and I only carry 6 cards, so it's not so bad getting them out. Your review was one of the better ones I've found, great work!
I’ve had the ridge wallet for 7 years now and it’s been great. I keep 6 cards in it and the two cards i use the most i keep in the front and back for easy access. Also just recently used the warranty to replace my cash strap and it was mailed and deliver within 3 days. Free and no hassle. 👍
Very straightforward and informative comparison! Nice job! I have the Ridge for a few months already. And I tend to try not taking out all cards if I need access to the middle ones by using their recommended "fanning" method - if you pull out the cards around a third of the way and then squeeze the other end... it kind of fans them out in a usable way. Not sure if it is quicker than just pulling all out... but nonetheless - it is another option. A question for the Ekster - what happens if you put fewer (2-3) cards in the inner mechanism? Does it work properly? Are they secure and snug? Thanks!
Yeah, there definitely are ways to make it work, but the Ekster is definitely easier overall. As for using 2-3 cards in the Ekster, it does still work properly! I believe there are separate channels down in the bottom of the wallet for each card.
I have an Ekster which I love but my dog chewed it and I have been trying to get a new one. I like how the Ekster works but the color choices for Ridge are *chef’s kiss* so I am heavily considering Ridge solely because of that. I just hope I love it as much as Ekster because, of course, I use it multiple times a day.
I have both and I got rid of the ridge. The ease of use is what won me over for ekster. So much easier to get the card I want compared to fumbling around with the ridge.
I have both a ridge and an ekster and have been carrying the ekster a lot more often than the ridge. Warning…if you carry more than 10 cards go with the ridge.
Thanks for the info! Would you recommend the Ridge wallet if you only used 5-6 cards? I love the design of the Ridge but the functionality of the Ekster is an almost equal foil.
Yes! The Ridge would be a great option for you, especially with less cards. You'll have really easy access to one to two of them, and the lower card count will keep it relatively thin as well. This is a great place to buy a Ridge Wallet (paid link): amzn.to/40Ff20V
These cost so much, just got an off brand that will do the exact same thing for 50% or more cheaper, I bought an off brand one for $40 similar to the ridge and its been working just fine for 2 years now.
That is great to hear! Your main risk comes down to quality. While you may have gotten one that works, buying a generic brand can cause quite a few issues. Rough edges, lower quality materials and more. When you get a brand name like Ridge or Ekster, you know what you are going to get, what what warranty you have.
I'm going with the ridge. Not saying all women are alike, But for me, I won't put this wallet in my pockets. I need something that carries all my cards and is easy to transfer into my different small purses/clutches that I switch out depending on my outfit of the day. so I needed something that had all 10 of my cards in one place and not bulky. Also I only use 2 of my cards on a regular basis and carry the rest as backup emergency cards. So the issue of trying to grab the middle one is not a problem for me.
It won’t. You can put just 4 inside and it’ll be fine, if you put 4 in the strap for a while and then decide you just want 2 it might be a bit stretched.
It makes me curious... Aren't they uncomfortable when you have them in your back pockets and you're sitting, compared to traditional leather or fabric wallets? Like your butt is stepping onto something hard or something
Hey! Yes, these are generally meant to be front pocket wallets, rather than back pocket wallets. Their minimalist features do an awesome job of making that happen, and keeping it from being noticeable.
@@j-flashm297 That's why I got rid of my bulky back pocket wallet. Ended up with the Ridge, will probably keep it. Front pocket is WAY more comfortable on my back/leg.
My Ekster parliament is being replaced by a ridge I just ordered. My cards fall out of the Ekster just by turning it upside down. Huge downside and a deal breaker for me
DO N O T BUY EKSTER. Received "Parliment Wallet" last week, have been trying to return it since. "Return Portal" is a piece of garbage like the wallet that boasts "fits 1-12 cards" I could barely get 8 in. Had it engraved, cam BARELY SEE the engraving. DO N O T BUY EKSTER, NO MATTER WHAT, is my advice. Support and CSR are the WORST...
I'm sorry to hear about your experience! You can fit 12 cars, however cards with raised lettering will take around 1.5 cards worth of space, which may be what caused your concern.
@@salguodrolyat2594credit cards are very simple to despite charges as it isn’t your money, it’s theirs. So it is easy to say it isn’t your charge. And Apple Pay changes card number and is the most secure form of payment. I’ve used it since it came out and never had a problem on all 5 of my cards.

I’ve watched a few of these wallet review/comparison videos and thank you for keeping it brief and acting normal.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it, and letting me know!

Thats great to hear from someone who has used it for so long!
The card mechanism broke on me the 1st day, after dropping the wallet.
a fair review for sure, i like the compact size of the ridge wallet. so that is the one i use. thanks for the comparison.
Glad to hear it! They are both fantastic wallets, and there is good reason why they are so popular.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the review! You really can't go wrong either way, both are fantastic wallets for sure!
both of My eskters has broken in the same way after about shy of a year with just normal use as well as the GPS tag stopped charging after 2 charges.
where do you put your id?

Yes! That is what I found as well.
Thinking of buying one of them. What happens if mechanical spring breaks on ekster. Warranty covers or do I need to buy new one?
I'd recommend reaching out to them on that one!
I have both a ridge and an ekster and have been carrying the ekster a lot more often than the ridge. Warning…if you carry more than 10 cards go with the ridge.
Agreed!
Great review, wouldn't pay that for elastic and two pieces of metal !!!! Ekster looks bigger, and more bullkie. But easier
They definitely both have their upsides and downsides for sure! The Ekster is much easier to use overall for sure.

My money is on the ridge wallet, shoot I was working at Home Depot and ran my wallet once with the forklift and I only got some minor scuffing
Thats awesome!
I love my Ekster!!

Can you please do a review on the ekster vs the groove wallet?
I'll see what I can do!
Ekster all day!
That plate is a rfid blocker
I owned an Ekster until it fell apart out of nowhere lasted me like 6 months I think? Ordered a Ridge a few days ago let's see how that goes
Oh wow! I haven't had any issues yet like that.
what if i only use 3 or 4 cards with the ekster ? will they flop around or fall out ?
It won’t. You can put just 4 inside and it’ll be fine, if you put 4 in the strap for a while and then decide you just want 2 it might be a bit stretched.

Buy a ridge wallet, you’re welcome.

Don’t put a wallet in your back pocket unless you want back issues down the line.

Might as well DONATE your credit cards to pickpockets if you are keeping them in your back pocket.🤣🤣

@@Gear_43 it is a REAL bummer!
also why does nobody know about the punch method on the ridge to get to the middle cards. So easy
What method is that?
@@Gear_43 pinching the bottom left corner after pushing your cards out a bit fans them out for easy access

Have you reviewed the Aviator wallets?
I have not! Digging into it now, looks like an interesting alternative.
Why did I think this was jerry rig everything
Haha I'll take that as a compliment!
Best two? Secrid is missing
I'm working on seeing if I can get my hands on a Secrid! It seems like a a great option as well.

Ekster who cares about the brand name
You'd be surprised! Sometimes a brand name can change how you feel about a product.
It’s 2023. People carry credit cards in digital form like Apple Pay and only carry one or two cards in their wallet.
Interesting to hear your take!
You give your credit card a permanently on internet connection and hope your credit card never gets hacked?🤦

Depends on how you think about it I guess!
