Ridge wallet is such a genius business venture. They managed to sell pairs of metal plates strapped together for 160$ and actually make people want to buy it.
Wonder why there are so name competitors? Because it's super cheap to make

Well. Some safes here and there. Less marketing, less quality in build in materials, just a bit cut of the marge and here u have ur little cheap product which no one would buy, if there wasn't a more expensive option on the market doing all the marketing for this thing. Ah. And don't forget the lifetime guarantee by ridge which works pretty well. Same goes for spare parts if u need some.
U can see the difference. Now u only have to think about if it's worth FOR YOU personally to spend a lot more for some "little" tweaks. The ridge is the superior product.

I don't know about these wallets, but a hell of a lot of producers make identical white-label goods that are simply branded differently before hitting the retail markets. You'd maybe be surprised at the extent to which this happens.

@@MaryamMaryam-rg7ny The Ridge didn't design anything. These wallets were already being made in China factories before the Ridge brand was ever available for sale. Ridge simply had their name printed on the wallets and chose a packaging from the factory. Ridge is not a retail company they're a marketing company. Nothing more.

Great comparison. I know a couple of people who love their ridge wallets. One of whom previously had durability issues with a knockoff. It's tough to know whether that was a one off issue, or a reflection of broader quality concerns with knockoffs. The other has been using he Ridge for over 7 years. I'll likely stick to my leather wallets in any case, but at those prices I'd consider trying the rossm, just to see how it is.

I have the UNIKTREND cherry wood wallet a love it built well does everything I want. What you have to remember is you don't need double stitching most of us don't carry around 12 cards everywhere we go. All the wallets are clearly very well built but even if like UNIKTREND that I bought if it falls apart for some reason I can buy several more for the price of one ridge wallet so their is literally no reason to buy a ridge . My opinion anyone of the other options makes more sense then the ridge . The only real difference is style so find the ridge knock off that suits your style their way more then what's shown here and buy the one that you want.

I bought the ROSSM wallet, I havefor 10 months now, got on a Amazon sale for $23, I was interested in the ridge wallet, and got this one to see if I like the idea, after having the ROSSM wallet for two months, I took apart and put the money clip on and took all the bolts out and put blue Loctite although all the bolts were fine, more time went on, and I kind of forgot about the ridge wallet, because this one has been just fine. 10 months later, and still works perfectly. So I figure why I pay more just for a brand-name when they’re basically the same. I got the black carbon fiber and still looks perfect. The money clip has a little bit of wear, but works perfectly.

This is basically what I did, bought a knockoff to figure out I'm not the biggest fan of the Ridge wallets. I'm curious to know how long the knockoffs will last. I'm a big fan of buying the expensive name brand items simply because of longevity. I bought my forged ember about 3 or 4 years ago and it's still going strong. If I remember correctly it was a bit cheaper than they are today. If I had to replace the knockoff every year cause it broke then that's a huge hassle I don't want to mess with.

The ridge is just two plates with an elastic strap in the middle. The strap is the only thing that will really wear out and you can get long-lasting high quality ones from even the cheapest knockoffs and you can replace them yourself. There is absolutely no reason to buy the incredibly overpriced Ridge wallet unless you reeealy want your wallet to be made out of expensive materials that don't improve its function

@@amycus22 Same here. I have 2 ROSSM in Carbon fiber and Forged Ember. Both are still in great shape after over a year. The Ridge Carbon Fiber is showing considerable signs of wear and the elastic is considerably more stretched out. I’ve had the ROSSM for 18 months and the Ridge for 6 months. I usually use one wallet for a week then switch so they all have a similar amount of use and wear and tear in them. I babied the Ridge since it was so much more expensive and it’s still wearing out quicker. And I’m very careful and never dropped the Ridge which I can’t say about the ROSSM wallets which I’ve dropped several times each. I also have 3 or 4 other brands in the metal designs and they’re all holding up fine.

I wonder if you've tested id card/lanyard varients of knockoffs from brands like "SHTALHST" was thinking about looking for a new wallet and this type of wallet really interested me, although I'm used to the double zipper accordion style wallet. Ok, not the accordion style, per sé, but it's the closest thing I could find to what I'm currently using, which has the same 2 accordion pouches for money or whatever on the one side, but instead of the accordion card holder on the other, it's more of a zippered bi-fold wallet with an id card holder at the centerfold, or whatever you call that center flap on a bi fold wallet, with the center hung id holder also functioning as a zippered coin purse...
Most of my documents that would stay in the accordion style money side of the 2 zipper wallet, such as SSN, voided check, and whatever else I might need for applications for employment or similar things that I like to keep in the same place, but close to hand if I ever need them in a hurry, can stay in a separate wallet, and so I'm just looking for something to basically, hold 1 or 2 debit cards easily, and possibly a bank card with my account numbers on them, for the bank obviously. Ability to hold money would be good, probably on a clip, but IDK if an elastic band or clip is better... The ones I'm currently looking at have a clip, and a small loop for putting on a small lanyard or something like, and have a small clear plate on the front to slide an id or similar card behind, for easy access...

They're probably all made in the same factory in China. I think it is funny that some people defend the price of the Ridge saying that it comes with a lifetime warranty. The only parts that might need replacing are the bands imo or a few screws if you forget to snug them up every so often. These spare parts come in the box with the RossM for no extra cost so this really does make the "lifetime warranty" of the Ridge seem redundant.

So where do you keep the little bits of crap we all carry around with us like a spare key and a trolly token, as well as cash for the Sunday markets that don't use card readers because they're behind the times.

That's one of the deficiencies about sandwich wallets, they don't handle those items well, so you end up with that in your other pockets.

Funny how Ridge, the wallet I've been using since day one, is the target of all these new Ridge-Knock-off videos. If Ridge is the one beat, how about just buying a Ridge?

  • @russell2952
    @russell2952 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Got an ARW for $20 (Canadian). There's just no possible way the Ridge brand one is $170 better (yes, it's selling for $190!!!). I doubt it's even better at all. Don't try a knockoff and then buy the 'real' thing, just stick with a knockoff. If it fails in some way you can buy eight replacements before you've spent as much as one Ridge wallet.

YOU: "Not that you will carry 12 cards on you"
    ME: "Hold my beer"
Just found you and like your videos, what do you recommend for someone who carries even more than 12 cards but wants something that doesnt take too much space? I have one of these knockoffs and it doesnt stretch enough and its hard to remove cards.
EDIT: I started this comment before I saw you say the same thing about the Extremus that I have.

Good question, since the provenance of anything can be surprising. Could be someone invented it, but Ridge took it and ran with it. If there's anyplace that could tell us....it's Reddit :)

leather wallets RFID with slots are unbeatable in practicality, you want to be a modern man dust your leather wallet and either put your cards in your pockets and use them one by one or use this crap and have fun when you want to get out the one that you need out of that elastic band or super fun when all the cards come flush over the floor in the middle of the store.. i've seen it multiple times and i smiled... you ll never touch this elastic crap ever again

gotta appreciate this video for its honesty because ridge is basically manufactured in china. All the other sellers are selling the same exact wallet with their own brand. The mold and everything is basically the same with ridge. I'd have scold the crap out of walletopia if he really recommends ridge over the rest. Ridge is basically an overpriced minimalist wallet. You are welcomed.
