@@EliasDelvasto Elias, thanks, below may be helpful to anyone with a CrossTrek 2021 or later limited edition. In 2021 Subaru introduced Outback 2.5 liter engine to CrossTrek line only in the limited edition. All other versions (sport, basic, etc... carried the original 2.0 liter engine). This new engine bumped the HP by about 30 and torque by about 25 lb-ft. This extra HP and torque required larger front and rear brake calipers. So, the brake calipers on the limited edition (2021 and later) are beefier than all other versions of CrossTrek with 2.0 liter engine. This means a R15 wheel even with a larger offset (40-50 mm) may rub against the brake caliper, and minimum recommended wheel size is R16 or even better R17. I didn't know any of this and ended up calling the Subaru of America assembly plant in Lafayette Indiana to finally get some clear answers. Having a 2021 limited edition with 2.5 liter engine I started with wanting to have exactly the same wheel/tire setup that you have because it looked nice, but was forced to go with 215 70 R16 because of the brake caliper issue. Lets just say I spent far more time on this wheel/tire search than I really wanted to. Hopefully, this may help some of your followers with 2.5 liter engine CrossTrek. KMC gang! looks good my dude. Thanks for sharing your experience. I ordered the exact same wheel and tire combo last week (except in bronze, also including a matching spare). If timing is right they should be mounted on my crosstrek next week!
I haven’t had any rubbing at all. I think it depends on what size tire you decide to put on the car. The size that I went with hasn’t had any rubbing issues
I suppose that when you change anything on the car the risk is always present. However, since the wheel and tire combo weighs the same (slightly less) than stock and the diameter is the same then it should minimize any premature wear.
Thanks so much! So typically when you change wheels/tires you will need to adjust the speedometer. This is because when you get a bigger or smaller tire then the speedometer will read inaccurately. The speedometer needs to be tuned to the size of the wheel/tire. However, since the new diameter of the wheel/tire combo that I put on is almost identical to the stock wheel/tire combo then the speedometer didn’t need to change. If you want to be 100 percent accurate then technically the speedometer is off by about 0.1 mile per hour. I didn’t see a need to change it since it’s basically the same. I hope that helps clarify!
Happy to help! There are some helpful calculators online. Here are 2 links if you’re curious. 1) tiresize.com/speedometer-calibration/ 2) www.discounttire.com/learn/tire-size-calculator
Hey just got these tires 215/75/15. Measured a diameter of 26.9” actually which is much smaller than spec stated at 27.7”. I am debating going with these or upgrading to 225/75/15. Since I lost about 3/4” of clearance.
Love the setup! I'm going to put the 215/75r15 ATiii's on as well, except with Motegi MR139 rims. Do you have any concerns about accelerated wear on the wheel bearings or CVs due to the offset? I spoked to my dealership but they just gave me the usual line of "it may effect the warranty on those parts"
That’s a good question. I don’t have huge concerns. I know it has the chance to add wear over time but from what I’ve heard it should be minimal. I will mention one thing that I haven’t determined if it is related or not. I recently replaced my front two wheel bearings due to some noise they were making. The back two were fine, at this point the wheels have only been on for about a year so I’d like to think it is unrelated. I’ve been hearing the noise for a while too (I vaguely remember hearing the noise close to when I first got the wheels) so I don’t think it has to do with the wheels and most importantly it was covered under the power train warranty. I wish I could predict the future but I hope that info gives some insight. I haven’t been able to find a clear answer
From what I’ve heard, with a 225 you probably wouldn’t have any rubbing. With a 235 you would be cutting it real close. The lift would definitely help with a 235 but you still might have to do some chopping. I don’t have a lift but based on what I’ve researched, that seems to be what most people experience.
You’re probably not seeing them because tragically they have recently been discontinued. The manufacturer stopped making them after I made the video. I have seen method make some wheels that are similar if you are looking for an alternative.
That's a nice set up. You inspired me to wanna do the same. Did you have to do an all-wheel alignment after putting these new wheels and tires on? To clarify, is the ride height stock on your car? Do you have a CVT or manual transmission?
Thank you! I actually didn’t have it aligned and I haven’t felt a need to. The shop just did the mounting and balancing. The ride height is stock and my car is a manual transmission. I hope this helps!
Hey! Amazing video, you shared very usefull info. I have one question I hope you have the answer fo: what is the weight of the KMC 708? I am trying to decide between Voxx Monte and KMC Bully. The weight for the Montes is 17 pounds and I beleive it is hard to beat, but I could not find any info online about the weight of the 708 bullys. Thank you on advance for any info you may have.
Hey thanks! I agree, finding info on the KMC’s is hard since they stopped making them. I did find something that said they are 18.3 pounds per wheel. Those Montes seem hard to beat
just been trying to figure this out. i don’t guess i know how to find the right tire that will fit. will the wheels and tires in this video fit a 2017?
I’m not as familiar with the 2017’s but I think I have seen a few photos floating around of these wheels on a 2017 so maybe it is possible. I would have to do more research to give a definite answer on the size though. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help
I had to do a little bit of digging to find the numbers but my set up should weigh 46 lbs. The stock wheel and tire weighs in at 47lbs. Assuming my numbers are correct then you might save a pound or so with the new set up but it’s not a huge difference actually.
@@EliasDelvasto thanks! And even if it’s the same, that’s still great because it looks way better than stock set up. I’m still searching for a lightweight wheels because this is already discontinued.
So far it has been good! I still have plenty of tread left and they have worn evenly so no concerns there. The tire shop seems to have a hard time getting the wheel weights to stick. I’ve had a wheel weight fly off the last two times I got them rotated but I think that’s more of a problem with the shop. They made a comment one time that they can be tricky to balance but I’ve never noticed any balancing issues. Overall I’d say they are aging well.
@@EliasDelvasto Thank you for the reply. Im happy I found this as I was looking at a much more "off road" set up with lifts etc just to get a custom look for my pavement princess.
@@EliasDelvasto One more question. I know they dont sell these Bully wheels any more, so do you have the size specs? My goal is the same as your, I dont want a lift or to change the handling. There are so many options I want to make sure I am looking at the right sizes. 15X7?
Yes, these are 15x7 with an offset of 10. You might have a hard time finding other wheels with a 10mm offset but 15mm also looks good to me. I know method makes a popular option but good luck with your search!
Informative video I have a 2021 crosstrek with the 18 inch wheels. I am planning of using the same wheel you have. Can you share the full spec of the KMC wheel you are using that way I won’t make a mistake ordering. Thanks.
Sure! KM708 Bully Satin Black Wheels by KMC. 15" x 7", +10 Offset, 5x100 Bolt Pattern, 72.6mm Hub. I had to dig a bit to find that info because it is no longer on the KMC website. I recently learned that they discontinued the wheel in this size unfortunately. Best of luck!
@@EliasDelvasto I believe you meant to say 5x100 bolt pattern as I do not believe the Crosstrek is compatible with 5x114.3 bolt pattern based on my research. Any chance you can confirm? I’m looking to order these and only a few places still have them so I want to make sure I order correctly. Thanks in advance!
Yes! When the shop was mounting the tires they asked if I wanted the white letters facing out or if I wanted the black side facing out. I opted for the black side. It’s just personal preference but it’s nice that you get a choice
Hi! The offset on the wheels is 10mm. As for the rings I am not sure actually. I let the shop take care of that but I want to say they have rings. I hope that helps!
You mentioned some issues with takeoff speed with this new setup...Any noticeable difference in overall power? I tow a small camper trailer with my crosstrek and need all the power I can get.
There definitely is a difference in the feeling of acceleration. The car feels heavier with the new tires. If I let it rev higher then it will get going. I can’t give you any solid numbers as far as power goes but I can say that I have gotten used to it now. I don’t notice it anymore but that doesn’t mean it won’t affect your trailer situation. It’s hard topic for me to speak to since I don’t tow a trailer. The Crosstrek isn’t known for power so maybe judging it based on how it currently feels with the trailer is the best way to do it. If you have power to spare even while towing then you could consider the tires but if it’s already struggling with the trailer then you might reconsider. I wish I could be more helpful
Good question, I believe I payed right around $1500 for everything but that included the wheels and tires themselves so I’m not sure how much they charged for the labor.
The MPG numbers I mentioned in the video is reflective of highway driving. I have noticed that my average has dipped to about 30 MPG while driving in the city.
An excellent question. I will be addressing this in a future video but the spare tire that comes on the Crosstrek is just a donut and unfortunately the space that it goes in is too small for a full size spare. My plan in the future is to get a full size spare and put it on a roof basket. A full size spare will make me feel much better on road trips and such
@@EliasDelvasto Haha that's true! It looks super nice already. I have a 2019 manual as well, and I'm thinking about doing the same tire + wheel swap with (maybe) a 2-inch lift. Looking forward to more of your videos!
Good question. I’ve heard mixed thoughts on this but it seems like it really depends on what else the car has on it. Seems like with a lift you’ll be ok and maybe even on stock suspension you’ll be ok but if you have stock suspension with mud-flaps then you might be rubbing. Like I said, it seems like it really depends so clearances would be tight. I didn’t want any chance of rubbing which is why I went with the 215’s
Thanks for great video. I have 2019 Crosstrek Limited. The stock is 225-55-18. Can I use same combination of wheel and tires as you used ? If I use KMC 708 in combination w BFG T/A KO2 , will it work ?
I believe so! My 2019 is a Premium trim so it came with 17 inch wheels instead of 18 inch wheels like yours did. This shouldn’t make any difference though. Our cars are the same mechanically so you should be able to fit the same set up. The K02 is a great tire and very comparable to the Toyos that I got. Good luck!
Great question! Unfortunately I can’t speak to their snow performance. I don’t live in an area that gets a lot of snow so I haven’t done a ton of research on their snow performance. I don’t want to misguide you
I don’t think so. I’m happy with the way it looks now and I haven’t had any issues with its current height so I haven’t felt a need to look into a lift.
Awesome video that's straight to the point! I just got the same rims (in bronze) and the same tires installed a week ago! What PSI do you run your tires?
No, I did not lift it. The ride height is completely stock. I think the offset of the wheels might have helped with that but I haven’t had any rubbing issues
Nice video man. Looking to do the same set up did you buy the tires and wheels at the same place if so would you mind sharing where did you buy them online?
I did! I bought them both at Discount Tire. It made it easy since they did the mounting too. You can buy them at multiple places (including Amazon I think) but I liked the idea of doing it all in one place.
@@EliasDelvasto yea that's what I want to do to make it easier. I seen them on Amazon and the actual kmc website but after putting car info it says it won't fit. Did you have purchase anything else like the tpms sensors?
Excellent question! You sent me on a hunt to find the answer because I was curious myself. The stock wheel and tire should be a total of 47.2lb (22.2lb for the wheel). The KMC and Toyo weigh 46.3lb (18.3lb for the wheel).
Hi! You are correct that is the original tire size. I haven’t had any issues with the new width. It drives very nicely. When people change tires on the crosstrek I have seen 3 different widths: 215, 225 and 235. The 235’s seems to always rub, and I didn’t want any chance of rubbing so I went with the 215’s and have had no issues.

Elias, I enjoyed watching your video. I've a 2021 CrossTrek limited edition with 18 inch wheels. My initial plan for off roading was to use the same dimension wheel and tire as yours. However, after watching your video I realized that your rim is 17 inches. Based on your experience should I scale up to 16 inch wheel or stay with 15 inch wheel? If I stay with 15 inch wheel, I no longer can use your tire size as that will screw up the speedometer. I can leave it up to the folks at discount tire to choose the wheel and tire for me, but I thought an opinion from you will be very helpful as well. My personal feeling is to stay with 15 inch wheel and have a very fat off road tire, but that may not be safe. Thanks.
Hi there! My wheels are actually 15 inches. The wheels that came on the car were 17 inches and those are no longer on the car. I hope that helps clear some things up
Love this and ended up getting the same setup for my car. What tire pressure are you running? The shop aired mine up to 40 and it’s making my tire pressure light pop up on the dash.
I hope you’re enjoying the set up! Discount Tire recommended that I run the same tire pressure that Subaru recommends so I’m actually running around 33 PSI. I hope that helps!
A great question. I’ve been wondering myself. I just went and measured and it seems like the wheel tire combo is too wide to fit in the spare wheel well. A very sad discovery. I’ve been looking at solutions for this but was always hopeful it would fit

Honestly I’m not sure and I don’t want to tell you something wrong. That’s the least helpful response so I’m sorry
Will adding after market mud flaps rub?
I haven’t had any rubbing at all. I think it depends on what size tire you decide to put on the car. The size that I went with hasn’t had any rubbing issues
You forgot an important measurement. How wide are the wheels?
That is very important! They are 15x7.
Dude this was so helpful I want to put beefer tires on my 14 Forester this was explained really well that a noob like myself could understand
I’m glad it helped!
@@EliasDelvasto where did you pick up your tires I really want to get them for 129 because I'm on a TIGHT budget
I got them from Discount Tire. Although I’m thinking prices have gone up since I got them
Wouldn’t this mess up the transmission? Like the final drive ratio
I suppose that when you change anything on the car the risk is always present. However, since the wheel and tire combo weighs the same (slightly less) than stock and the diameter is the same then it should minimize any premature wear.
2:44 hey dude can you explain what do you mean by the speedometer thing? Great video loved how you explained pretty much everything! Cheers!
@@EliasDelvasto wow dude. Had no idea about that when using different tires. Thanks so much for explaining!
Happy to help! There are some helpful calculators online. Here are 2 links if you’re curious.
1) tiresize.com/speedometer-calibration/
2) www.discounttire.com/learn/tire-size-calculator
@@EliasDelvasto thanks for the reply! I'm looking forward to putting them on. Even if it does add a bit I think it'll still be worth it
That’s my logic! Those wheels look great. Well done picking them out. It’s going to look awesome.
What size tire would you recommend if I got the lift for it?
From what I’ve heard, with a 225 you probably wouldn’t have any rubbing. With a 235 you would be cutting it real close. The lift would definitely help with a 235 but you still might have to do some chopping. I don’t have a lift but based on what I’ve researched, that seems to be what most people experience.
hey man, i cant find the KMC 708 bully wheels when i type it in like that. Can you be more specific or am i just not seeing them?? lol
What psi for daily drive?
32 psi. Same as factory actually
@@EliasDelvasto Awesome! Still great weigh compared to stock 17's or 18's. I really appreciate you took the time to check on this!
just been trying to figure this out. i don’t guess i know how to find the right tire that will fit. will the wheels and tires in this video fit a 2017?
I’m not as familiar with the 2017’s but I think I have seen a few photos floating around of these wheels on a 2017 so maybe it is possible. I would have to do more research to give a definite answer on the size though. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help
Do you know the Thread pattern for the crosstrek and the Bully wheels? I’ve been reading 5x100
Yes! 5x100 is right
Great video and very helpful. Did you install a lift? Or is this the stock suspension?
Thanks so much! I have not installed a lift so the suspension is completely stock. It works well for my needs.
I found the at3s but this is what it’s showing as the size is this correct??
P215/75R15 100T TL
Yes that should be correct.
@@EliasDelvasto I’m just going to use one of my factory set as my spare! Good call!
What's the difference of this set up in terms of weight vs the stock set up?
I had to do a little bit of digging to find the numbers but my set up should weigh 46 lbs. The stock wheel and tire weighs in at 47lbs. Assuming my numbers are correct then you might save a pound or so with the new set up but it’s not a huge difference actually.
@@EliasDelvasto thanks! And even if it’s the same, that’s still great because it looks way better than stock set up. I’m still searching for a lightweight wheels because this is already discontinued.
Agreed! And good luck finding a good option. It’s sad that they discontinued these wheels. I know Method makes a popular option.
great video!
looking to getting tires for my new crosstrek too
Would rally armor mid flaps be okay?
Absolutely that’s another great option
@@EliasDelvasto okay, I love my mudflaps and I’ve seen other videos where they had to take off the front ones because they rubbed
Would this wheel and tire measurements work for my 2022 Subaru Crosstrek sport? Or is my wheel size bigger? Need help trying to figure this out
Hi there. It should be the same for the 2022 models!
If I found 15x7 with 5x100 pattern but offset is 15mm would that still work? Or would u recommend 10mm only. Thanks!
15mm offset is fine! I think that is the more common offset that people end up using anyways.
Do you know the actual offset amount on those wheels?
The offset is 10mm. Hope that helps
You said 255/75r15. But the caption is 215? Confusing.
Yes, I misspoke. 215/75/r15 is the correct one. 255 wouldn’t fit 😂
Hello. Where can I find similar spec wheels to avoid a lift?
There are a handful of options that I have seen. I know these are popular: amzn.to/3thynGj
Thanks so much. Great rig!
I know this is an older post, but I am curious about how well these tires worked over time? Any issues with balancing or wear?
I love it. Glad it was helpful!
Yes, these are 15x7 with an offset of 10. You might have a hard time finding other wheels with a 10mm offset but 15mm also looks good to me. I know method makes a popular option but good luck with your search!
Did you mount new tyres on the standard suspension?
Yes! I haven’t done anything to the suspension.
@Elias Delvasto good!! Thanks for information, make some more vids with crosstreck
In the video you said the tire size was 255/75/R15 but the video showed 215/75/R15 which is correct?
I sure did. That was an oops on my part. The correct size is 215/75/R15
Thanks
@@EliasDelvasto Thank you very much. Guess I have to look for something else.
Hopefully there’s still a set floating around out there for you but if not I know another popular option are the method wheels
@@EliasDelvasto thanks I will check that. Have a great weekend!
Nice setup, quick question.. did you reverse mount these? I can’t seem to find an all black side wall for this tire thanks..
Yes! When the shop was mounting the tires they asked if I wanted the white letters facing out or if I wanted the black side facing out. I opted for the black side. It’s just personal preference but it’s nice that you get a choice
I just got the same wheels with the same color but in 17inch and also got the same Toyo AT3’s but in 225/65R17, for my white 2018 Subaru Outback.
That is super cool! I bet that looks great!
Looks great and you've inspired me to so the same. Did you have any issues swapping the OEM tpms to your new wheels or did you just buy new ones?
I didn’t have any issues. The tire shop swapped the OEM sensors into the new wheels and I didn’t have any issues with it. Have fun with your set up!
@@EliasDelvasto thank you so much! Excellent video and awesome feedback. I wish you the best!
Good video production. Loved the graphics you added. Nice
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it
Hey man! Do you know the offset of the wheels? Also did you run hub rings or are the wheels hubcentric? Thank you!
Is this on stock suspension ?
Yes, this is stock suspension and stock ride height
Do you need to swap the Tire Pressure Monitors from the stock wheels or does it not have any?
I had to swap them. The shop did it while they were mounting the new wheels and tires.
@@EliasDelvasto How much did the shop charge you for installing all wheels?
Good question, I believe I payed right around $1500 for everything but that included the wheels and tires themselves so I’m not sure how much they charged for the labor.
Love this videos...👍👍
Will this setup fit on a 2015 xv crosstrek?
Great question! I’m not sure. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do it but I haven’t done a ton of research for that body style either
Is it the same tire space and size with a 2016 Forester XT?
Unfortunately I don’t feel qualified to answer that question. I don’t have experience with a Forester
@@EliasDelvasto Thanks for the answer!
Do you mainly drive on the highway or city driving?
The MPG numbers I mentioned in the video is reflective of highway driving. I have noticed that my average has dipped to about 30 MPG while driving in the city.
What metrics are your tires? Lt or p? P because it isn't a light truck?
How wide are the new wheels?
The wheels I got are 15x7
Nice video! Everything is clear and understandable
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Nice build and nicely shot. Was looking at a Crosstrek but went down the wagon route. PS you insta handle link above doesn't work.
Thank you! I bet your wagon looks very nice. Also thanks for letting me know
Hi!!
I’m totally inspired to do the same on mine.
Quick question: did you have to modify your spare tire that goes in the trunk?
An excellent question. I will be addressing this in a future video but the spare tire that comes on the Crosstrek is just a donut and unfortunately the space that it goes in is too small for a full size spare. My plan in the future is to get a full size spare and put it on a roof basket. A full size spare will make me feel much better on road trips and such
nice video man. Are you considering any lift in the future?
Thank you! Actually, I don't think so. I like the way it sits now and haven't found a reason to do a lift.
@@EliasDelvasto Haha that's true! It looks super nice already. I have a 2019 manual as well, and I'm thinking about doing the same tire + wheel swap with (maybe) a 2-inch lift. Looking forward to more of your videos!
That sounds great!! Good luck with the build. I bet it’s going to look fantastic!
Will a 225/75/15 scrape?
Good question. I’ve heard mixed thoughts on this but it seems like it really depends on what else the car has on it. Seems like with a lift you’ll be ok and maybe even on stock suspension you’ll be ok but if you have stock suspension with mud-flaps then you might be rubbing. Like I said, it seems like it really depends so clearances would be tight. I didn’t want any chance of rubbing which is why I went with the 215’s
@@EliasDelvasto thanks, man 🙏
Thanks for great video.
Good luck!
@@EliasDelvasto do they perform same as all weather tires in snow .
Great question! Unfortunately I can’t speak to their snow performance. I don’t live in an area that gets a lot of snow so I haven’t done a ton of research on their snow performance. I don’t want to misguide you
do you plan on lifting it at all?
I don’t think so. I’m happy with the way it looks now and I haven’t had any issues with its current height so I haven’t felt a need to look into a lift.
Awesome video that's straight to the point! I just got the same rims (in bronze) and the same tires installed a week ago! What PSI do you run your tires?
That’s exciting! For road use I actually run the same PSI as the factory tires. (32 I think) Thats what the tire shop recommended so I went with it
Super nice bro, you didn't have to lift the car at all for the 215/75/15??
No, I did not lift it. The ride height is completely stock. I think the offset of the wheels might have helped with that but I haven’t had any rubbing issues
@@EliasDelvasto say less!! I like this stance more than a 2" loft stance, it makes it more aggressive
You have good taste my friend
Any big difference in tire noise?
An excellent question! Actually no. The noise increase is barely noticeable.

It’s actually the same as the factory tire pressure so I run 32 PSI
@@EliasDelvasto thank you. have fun with your rig 😍
Do you know the weight difference was between the stock wheel and tires to this setup?
Excellent question! You sent me on a hunt to find the answer because I was curious myself. The stock wheel and tire should be a total of 47.2lb (22.2lb for the wheel). The KMC and Toyo weigh 46.3lb (18.3lb for the wheel).
Best explanation ever!! Nice video.
Thank you very much! That means a lot to hear
Hi ! If I'm not mistaken, the original tire size is 225/60/r17 99H. Is it ok to change the width to 215 instead of 225?
@@EliasDelvasto Thx Elias for your reply, no regrets when driving on the road when it's raining ?
None at all. In fact I have more confidence in the rain with the more aggressive tread from the new tires
215 works perfectly...the added weight is fantastic for high speed cruising...the added weight is like extra flywheel...less gear change
hows the turning point?
Great! Never had any issues with rubbing, even at full lock.

I hope that helps clear some things up
How is the noise on the freeway?

great wheel/tire combo - question, does your full size spare fit in the tire well?
A great question. I’ve been wondering myself. I just went and measured and it seems like the wheel tire combo is too wide to fit in the spare wheel well. A very sad discovery. I’ve been looking at solutions for this but was always hopeful it would fit

Well I hope to find a solution at some point and I’ll probably make a video about it when I do. I’m leaning toward the roof basket. I have seen that you can attach the bike rack even with the swing arm tire carrier. That’s a lot at the back though
I thought discount tires dont put oversize tires on cars?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they checked all the numbers for me to make sure they would fit and they didn’t fight me on it. Although technically the overall diameter of the new set up is the same as stock. Either way they were very helpful
