Hey Kat . These pictures portray the old vintage Woolrich Plaid Red wool hunters suits . Many companies supplied commission services to Woolrich over years to supply this product since its popularity and quality were wanted by the hunting industry . My family's business that started in 1869 supplied the dyed wool black and red for Woolrich . Boy does this bring back memories !
I have a complete suit that I bought off ebay a number of years back. I often wish it could talk and tell the story of it's adventures. Sadly, I can't fit in it and they outlawed the old red plaid in favor of Orange. These pictures are priceless but it's a shame everyone is gone now.
This is exactly what anti hunters do not get , there is so much more than the hunting that goes with this great tradition, the memories that guys have at hunting camps are NEVER forgotten, and that's what hunting camps make . Very well done again .

My hunting camp time started in 1952 at age 5. Camp boy was my job until I was 8 then I started shooting partridge and rabbits. By 10 I was deer hunting in my green plaid, must have worked because I shot my 1st deer that year. I will never forget those times and all the people I met and hunted with. My family were great hunters and taught me all that was needed to make me the hunter I became. By the way that 1st deer was a nice 8 point.
Wow, what great memories! I remember seeing the green plaid as well. What wonderful memories you have. Thanks so much for sharing! I appreciate you stopping by.

Keeping the camp cabin warm with wood and never complain about the camp cook. 😊 Setback cards in the evening and an early rise in the morning. Wonderful video. Brought me back to my younger hunts. I think after the men at camp did the things they needed to do around the camp to maintain, it became a leisure after the work was done. It got busy when anyone got a deer, with plenty to do, but I know my dad loved going there and it was very quiet and peaceful. Thank you for commenting and stopping by.

Cuz once the old timers started snoring, you were out of luck. Thanks I really enjoyed the video.

Hello, Kat! Thx for sharing these pics, really fun to see. I enjoyed reading about it in your description. Made me think of my dad. For most of his life he and some friends/relatives had a hunting cabin about an hour away. I guess these types of outings are somewhat dying out. Loved the old car photo. Never saw a natural refrigeratation like that. Hopefully bears couldn't get into it. We had a natural spring growing up, good fresh spring water, but it has long since been contaminated. God bless you and have a lovely evening.😊🧡🍂
Hi Misha, thanks so much for sharing your memories. There’s not too many camps around like this anymore. Most of the men in these videos were my relatives. Thank you Kat for this video!! We live in Rhode Island, and visit the great State of Maine as much as we can. So much history with the 100 plus year old sporting camps!
You’re welcome. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Maine has the best of both worlds doesn’t it? The mountains, woods, and ocean. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Sweet memories sweetheart.. god bless you
Thank you Stefan. I appreciate you stopping in and I hope you have a blessed week my friend.

Thank you 🤗 I’m so glad you stopped in. I never got the email you sent me. Have a blessed week! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
@@KatInTheNorth oh goodness, I will have to check my emails and try and find out what happened.
@@KatInTheNorth I can not find the email either, I am not sure what I did wrong, too much going on in our lives and it causes me to blunder or forget. I flooded the kitchen the other day because I forgot I was running water for the dishes! Lol
I pray you are doing well , it is good to see you on you tube again🤗🩷
@@TeaTimeDevotionsWithMimi Thank you ♥️ I’m sorry to hear about the flooding. I’ve done that before 🤫 Was a long time ago, but it happens. I am doing alright, thank you. Slowing down and not spending much time online helps. The doctor said all is stable and to just continue on as I’m doing. I’m very thankful. God is good. Blessings to you and the family ♥️🙏🏼♥️
@@KatInTheNorth yes He is♥️

Our hairatage were not letting it go love this country. ❤
Yes it is, and thank you 🇺🇸
This is my family in Virginia hunting Craig County from the 60’s to today. I don’t go anymore but my brothers and nephew carry on the tradition. Loved Craig county and our mountains.
Hi Michael, I’m glad the tradition continues for your family. This group of men built this hunting camp back in 1948, and I’ll be sharing some pictures from that time as well. Hang on to your memories, and take care!
Very nice video, ms Kat. I didn’t know red flannel outfit was the hunting gear during that time. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍🏼
Thank you, at one time the red & black woolens were what most of the hunters wore. But now the hunters have to wear a bright orange. Thank you for stopping by!
@@KatInTheNorth 👍🏼

Beautiful sweet ❤❤ friend
Thanks so much! I appreciate you stopping by and commenting 🙂
My cousin gave me these slides, which I was able to digitalize individually. I love seeing how young they all were. I really appreciate you stopping by, and I hope you have a blessed weekend ♥️🙏🌻🍂🍁
Good content , love the videos
Thank you, I’m glad you liked them.
It's a night and day difference between today's realtree "hunters" and the true Woodsmen of yesteryear.
I agree with you completely! Thank you for stopping by.
Amazing, thank you for sharing. Does your family still own the camp?
It is owned by other members now. Thank you for watching.
My dad hunted (and fished and trapped and made shine (“bathtub gin” with his mother) in Maine in the 30’s, 40’s (except when he was in the USN during WWll) and 50’s
Thanks for sharing your memories! My dad was in the USN about the same time as yours. The hunting camp was one of the favorite places my father liked to go to, when he wanted to get away from it all. Thanks for stopping by!
That was the good Old days
I agree! Thanks for stopping by.
Pretty neat. Is cabin still standing today?
Thank you, and yes it is.
CLOSE LOOK FAMILAR ?
Could you show what that area looks like now? Is that building still standing? Has the land been turned into a house development?
Hi, as far as I know, the building is still standing, but the area has changed quite a bit. A lot of 4 wheelers and dirt bikes go through there all the time, so it’s not as peaceful. No housing development yet. If I’m able to hike in there I will get some video of it sometime before the snow flies. Thanks for asking.
I’m heading upta camp in a few weeks. We have lost our patriarch of camp this year. It’s going to be a solemn time for sure. On the bright side… we have our memories and our other camp mates. And I did get a doe tag. This one is for Grumps.
I’m so sorry you lost your patriarch, and I wish you all a good hunt & a great harvest this year. Keep those fond memories alive!
enjoyable
Thank you!
And its 100 % wool natural fibers . Now you know how sheep stay warm !
Yes indeed! 🙂
