Vin finally understands the meaning of prog.
Getting outside the convention of verse/chorus/bridge song writing and thinking more compositionally and asking where else can this riff or motiff take me, and then just explore whatever concepts spring forth.
Now, can this be excessive? Can this sometimes lead places that aren’t even really the same song anymore, yes on both counts. But at its base the idea is to explore the music for all you can

This album was written to appeal to more mainstream metal fans. It blows my mind how quickly they wrote it and how great it is.
Actually one of my fav DT songs, especially that harmonized riff right before the guitar solo. Definitely my favorite DT song since A Change of Seasons, which was many many years ago. I knew Vin would love this cause he loves prog.
With the blue glow, Sori looks like she has been taking the spice.

One of my favorite Dream Theater songs and one of my all time instrumentals. Gets better the more you listen to it also which is great.
Vacant and Stream of Consciousness is like one work in two parts. Of course, the second part is the main dish, but the first part should not be ignored either.
Vacant is more fructuous for me in terms of giving me ideas. The dark, the feeling of loss, the longing. I associate it with Twin Peaks.
Not sure why you dont watch them live. Watchin J.P solo in this song is hilarious. His hand literally teleports
The stream of consciousness flows with the stream of unconsciousness. Clever. Silent like flowing in a stream of consciousness yet loud in soul and peaceful realization. One of my favorite transcending songs and of dream theater. Nice dark dream wolf vamptress rose jade lady. Keep it up.
Too bad you didn't include the soft prelude with vocals called Vacant. It carries the same riff but with a soft piano and cello.

Vin always likes to emphasize that he doesn't like Dream Theater, however, I recommend that subscribers watch all of his reactions to Dream Theater. There isn't a single song that he hasn't, through his reactions, liked what he heard. Vin's comments about the band are contradictory to his own reactions. I've been subscribed to this channel for years. I've watched all of the couple's reactions to Dream Theater, so I know what I'm talking about. Unlike Sori, who clearly likes the band a lot. I don't know where Vin's difficulty in admitting that he likes listening to Dream Theater comes from in 99.9% of his reactions. C’mon buddy. DT is absolutely EXTRAORDINARY and I know YOU know that. Do Killing in the name of God by dream theater. Long but amazing and not over convoluted. Not an instrumental though

There are Levels and types of Progressive music. As far as Current Progressive hard rock. Dream Theater and Tool are best there are.........And Someone Request anything off Dream Theater Systematic Chaos. Guarantee Vin questions his views on Dream Theater.
