Hi John Paul. Like your videos, always clearly and succinctly done, unlike most youtubers drawn-out ramblings. However, I think you'll find it would be far quicker and easier adjusting the alternator belt as per the instructions in the workshop manual, "electrical, page 2, adjustments", (page 801 in pdf version) which states, "turn adjustment bolt in a clockwise direction to increase belt tension". Works a treat and no messing about with pry bars......
Exactly! It's actually quite a neat design. The adjusting bolt is easily accessible with a small ratchet and lets you fine-tune the belt to precisely the required tension. I don't know why people mess around with pry bars to get the tension approximately right, but maybe the available replacement alternators don't have the threaded hole for the adjustment bolt anymore?
Thanks for the video. I see you use a ratcheting spanner to access the lower bolt. That's one of the most awkward to get to bolts I've ever tried to remove!
I have undone the bottom bolt but the top bolt is absolutely solid and stuck in place. I have taken the nut off the top bolt but the bolt itself won't slide out or move. I have tried to move the alternator up and down to free it and have sprayed it with copious amounts of plusgas but still no luck. I have tried a small jacking bolt to try and push it out but again nothing. I'm now looking at cutting the alternator off as I can't see any other way of freeing it. Any ideas?

It sounds as though you've had a good go at it. Not sure what else to suggest.
