The story unfolds in her elegantly austere drawing room, where she holds intellectual gatherings, reflecting her status and newfound popularity. Despite her literary acclaim, she faces personal challenges, particularly with her uninspiring husband, Albert, whose dullness contrasts sharply with her vibrant intellectual circle. The plot takes a dramatic turn when Albert ...................
I’m hooked on Somerset. Even when little is happening….you can still sense something is up and simply must keep on listening

Wonderful story - I love it :) Thanks so much! 🌷🌱
And perfect musical choice 🎼
A wonderful short story as only Maugham could have written it. He is so attuned to psychological nuances and such a detailed, fascinating author - his prose is so fluid and flowing. He is an amazing writer. Thank you so much for posting so many of his poetic and interesting work. :) ☀️🖋️🌷🌱
Loved this. Maugham really knows how to get inside minds.
As sad and depressing some of these stories are. I love the unique way they're told and cannot stop listening.
This was phenomenally funny. In a very droll Edwardian way, but absolutely delightful.
Great story!
Just brilliant!

Because great writers are timeless 😊

Will there be a reading of The Achilles Statue on this channel? Very interested in Mrs. Albert Forrester’s work now.
One might ask an AI to compose it.
Excellent!
Thank you..very much for pleasure.....of realism.
Thank you 🙏
Laughed out loud!
Maybe Maugham was reading Wodehouse that day.

Ok I admit it. I'm BEGINNING to like this author, but ONLY when. as he so aptly puts it, when here's a beginning, middle and an end to the story
I'm beginning to like the AI voice 😂
@CryptoHyppie 😄 I never thought I would tolerate an AI voice this long (just finished the Razor's Edge) but although I wince at the errors, I'm increasingly finding it bearable!
Am I the only one who can’t make heads nor tails of the positions of the trousered legs of the men in the otherwise beautiful illustration that accompanies this story? I do in general love the illustrations for the stories on this channel, although they are not acknowledged in any way … no credit is ever given by the channel, and I have yet to encounter a single reference among the hundreds of comments posted by viewers. Are they paintings? Are they some form of digital illustration created by AI, and therefore of ambivalent authorship? Surely someone else has noticed this odd set of circumstances… is there something obvious to everyone else that I am missing? While quite beautiful, many of the illustrations contain small and very subtle aberrations of perspective, often spacial or dimensional anomalies, reminiscent of optical illusion. In spite of this, to my recollection, I have never encountered so much as an acknowledgement that any form of illustration of any kind is to be found on this channel.
Thanks for your note. The images are curated via machine learning and as such are not copyrighted. I love generating these, despite glitching here and there.
Looks like an extra leg to me!
Doesn’t she write the murder mystery masterpiece that brings Albert running home to be in the presence of her genius ,😑 lol
