Had this problem later in many miles. I didn't bother fixing this problem because the oil leak is minimal. The mechanic over the phone already told me what the problem was without going to the shop.

i just finished replacing the head gasket, timing belt, and water pump work on my 2001 Civic Ex coupe. replace most of the seal/gaskets that can leak (Cam seal both ends, crankshaft seal, and a complete Felpro head gasket with valve stem seal,,etc. after all this work eng oil change was due as well and noticed there was some oil leak just slightly above the oil pan near the lower timing cover area. I believe it is the oil pump O ring is leaking on my engine. I hope it is not too bad and the At-205 seal can fix this slow leak.
I just finished my head gasket this weekend. It is all fairly easy work, just so frustrating working on a 20 year old car worth $2000 with 228k miles. I just want to junk it but then I keep fixing it!
Great video! I thought my oil leak was coming from the cam or crankshaft seals but there were no signs of oil leaks there. I'm hoping the oil pump o-ring is the culprit
@@Gonefishing185 I replaced the oil pump o ring, oil pan and gasket, and the valve cover gasket and no signs of leaks after about 100 miles driven! I left my cam and crank seal in since they still looked relatively new from the last timing belt job

I just changed the water pump and timing on my son 2005 civic the lower cover were melted just like your yes it got an oil leak too I change the cap and valve gasket but haven’t do the oil pan yet cause I have to take everything apart again to retiming it off 😤
I have mine all tore back apart replacing the head gasket now! Hopefully this is the last thing I need to do for a while. I'm am getting very familiar with this engine. Too bad it's only a Honda civic. No money to be made with this knowledge :(
Yes you should do this when changing timing belt. When I had my timing belt changed by a Honda tech he recommended it at that time and I had it done, however it only lasted 50k miles and was leaking again. Hopefully this time will last longer!
In most Hondas that I've had apart, the smaller circular gold-colored metal spacer just inside the cover is supposed to be installed in a specific direction. I'd guess that if it is not, that it might push outward on the cover, causing the pulley to rub against it. This is only my theory as a possible cause.

Originally my Crank Sensor bolt snapped inside of the hole it goes into.. I was so worried it was connected to the block and thank goodness it’s not. I also had my timing cover flapping around coated in oil exactly like this video.. smh

O ring was the main issue for sure! The rest were minor in comparison.

You say there where no bolts but Im assuming you found them putting the loqer timing cover on

Is there torque specs for the oil pump?
Torque oil pump bolts to 11NM or 96 inch pounds.
