The Blind Beggar Pub, opposite Whitechapel market and close to Bethnal green, is known mainly for the tragic gangster activity that took place inside it. On 9th March 1966, Ronnie Kray walks in and shot George Cornell. he received a life sentence for it and the pub became known as a gangster pub of the time. The east end of London was rife with gangster activity during the 50s & 60s.many pubs would be knocked down and have flats rebuilt in their place after such an incident, but as this crime was related to the Krays who were renowned gangsters of the time, this incident put the blind beggar into London nostalgia’s the pub has a much friendlier atmosphere with a fantastic beer garden, You can expect to pay higher prices for drinks as it is a nostalgia pub not only for the Ronnie Kray and George Cornell incident but also, (amongst other things), being where William Booth gave his first sermon and giving birth to the salvation Army.

I was in there a few months ago.There is a feel about being inside this pub.Had a great conversation with the staff.
Great video and great music, (especially the Carlton Lees track). Been to the Blind Beggar a few times. It's a bit pricey but still a nice pub with an infamous history.

It's not Bethnal Green! It's Whitechapel leading into Stepney. You have to turn left into Cambridge heath road for Bethnal green (E2). E.1 is Stepney, mainly. 😉
