      This isn't rock, its pure hardcore-blues with that Lenny Kravitz funk thang thrown in.

    I,be been playing for over 40 years. Say what you want. This guy is the real deal, writes his own stuff and goes for it. He’s not the only one who wears out the paint and finish on his strat and he won’t be the last. Play full on like he does and yours will look like that too.

      You r so write. People talk about who is the greatest guitarists. There isn’t one. It’s a matter of sharing what you enjoy. And I wish I could be as inventive as Mr Sayce.

      I agree, he's the real deal. Love his tone and intensity. Reminds me a lot of Chris Duarte.

      @JayMon39 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup - this guy is why I pick up my guitar every day. He is authentic and just loves to play. I play loud because my hearing went years ago, but he plays about as loud as I do. He also beats the crap out of that guitar, and that's why they make 'em. Play on, Young Jedi Master.

      @@wesharkins6716Hey Wes, I saw Chris Duarte in Memphis years ago and went and bought his Cassette at the time, and I also believe that Phillip Sayce sounds like Duarte.. Thought I was the only one! Sayce is really, really a Great player!

    But, the TONE! That intro blew my mind. This guy rocks. Pretty clear his main influences were the Wiggles and Ariana Grande ;-)

    How's he getting that sound??? (outside of his incredible technique) I'm seeing a lot of pickup switching and I think it's heavily overdriven, controlled by constantly rolling the volume up and down.

      As a lead guitarist myself, I think its the adrenaline and passion. I sweat like a mofo when I'm putting 110% of my soul into it.

    No i dont think every strat player is a S.R.V clone max, i like clapton and beck and they certainly aint ! I like hank marvin too and he aint a S.R.V clone either ! Need i go on? But john mayer, kenny wayne shep, phil sayce and a truck load of other guitarist are ! Give me the real thing any day!

      Alfie Henshall everyone has their influences. Even Stevie. Stevie could he called an Albert king on steroids.

    • @freecitizen2760
      @freecitizen2760 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cory Skiseng : Albert King, yes, but “on steroids”?
      Albert King could easily hold his own with SRV.
      Stevie’s got those licks from A.K. and other Blues masters.

  • @alfiehenshall688
    @alfiehenshall688 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    OH NO ANOTHER SRV CLONE! SAME OLD THEME. SCRATCH THE PAINT OF STRAT, GET STRINGS AS THICK AS TELEPHONE WIRES, TUNE DOWN TO Eb , GET TUBE SCREAMER, AN OLD VOX WHA PEDAL . TURN AMP UP TO TEN THEN BLAST OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN. THANK GOD FOR PETER GREEN, A TRULY SOULFUL PLAYER. ONE NOTE CAN MEAN SO MUCH. LESS IS MORE!

    • @randallstaffordcook
      @randallstaffordcook  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Guess coming up with Peter Green and SRV as those that can play better is truly a complement. Different styles, Philip has always been no holds bar player.

      Max Rooks No i'm not going through all his vids and criticising him. Just my opinion. I would find it rather tedious to go through all his vids anyway.

    • @MrSpeedyrocks
      @MrSpeedyrocks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha, guys like you mostly show this reaction. A virtuoso Strat-player with an old, battled pre-CBS Strat, playing through an old TS, an old Vox Wah and maybe some old univibe, octave-fuzz pedals (and sometimes an old tape-echo..!?). The guy plays a wild, exctatic blues-rock guitar with fast licks full of passion & feeling...fast, wild licks? Bluesrock, old scratched Strat, TS, tube amp?? Ha, another SRV Clone, no question. Way too many notes, less is more. Only this is the real and good blues...?...Pfff...C'mon dude, Sayce a SRV clone? That's very superficial and small minded. Where does this intolerance and these blinders come from? The most (blues-) guitarist, that i know , saying "only less is more" are in reality just jealous of guys like P.Sayce , Eric Steckel, Joe Bonamassa or Henrik Freischlader. They discredit their huge talent and their ability to play incredibly fast, but still with a great feeling and a fantastic tone. Now, that's pretty shabby, i think. .but that's not the way you are too, isn't it? There's enough space for all of us. So, i also find, that less is more...sometimes. I love players like Paul Kossoff, Peter Green, David Gilmour, B.B. King or Snowy White..they can express so much with just a few tones, that's a big art. But i also love guys like P.Sayce, E. Steckel, Doug Aldrich, Jared James Nichols, Jeff Healey, etc..they can play anything..they can play slow with a huge feeling& wonderful tone & expression..when the songs needs that, 'cause, as you also said - less is more-- sometimes and when the song needs a fast'n'furious, wild, ecstaticaly solo, they are able to play very fast, but with melody, feeling a really beautiful tone..and that is a giant art. Not always just to play fast, this so exactly as boring as always "less is more" (..the style of people that cannot really play more than a few notes..but beeing to cowardly to admit their incapability they define themselves as true purists , hiding their small talent behind this term..frustrated Clowns that hate everyone having more talent or/and a better prestidigitation and playing technique...must be a sad, poor life...
