Unpopular Opinion: not gonna lie the storyline and the gameplay does look very interesting i like goemon’s design in this game I feel like this one along with new age goemon deserves more attention.
Man, it would probably be pretty embaressing when the survivers of that forest battle show up at their evil lord's base: "WHAT? YOU WERE DEFEATED BY A BLUE HAIRED KID WIELDING A PIPE, AND A BABY TIGER?" "Well, sir, he could turn the tiger into a spirit and power up his attacks!" "WHAT DO I EVER PAY YOU FOR?! IT'S A GOOD THING I'M TEN TIMES STRONGER THAN YOU, SO I'LL PROBABLY KILL FAST!" (Foreshadowing)
I don't care what everyone else says, this is freakin' awesome. I've never played a single goemon game, but now I want to import a japanese ps2 and this game! If the gameplay is anything like this opening, than IT WOULD BE FREAKIN' AWESOME! And so what is the characters look different and there is different mechanics, I didn't see people complaining about how lego star wars is bad for being different from regular star wars.
(6 years later) People say this PS2 game isn't so good (I never played it), but Mystical Ninja on Nintendo 64 is awesome. It is as good as Zelda or Mario to me, in case you haven't played it yet.
@Yaenipponcover Ah yes, I remember all too well the new age Goemon game. It was yet another one of the Goemon games I liked. I think I said what I wanted to say about that game in the OP vid of said game. Anyway, I'm glad you understand what I was trying to say.
@purpleblizzard "change is a no-go for 90% of society" yes,and that's one the reasons why we barely heard of Goemon for almost a decade...except for a single DS game that never came out of Japan...being Sony the other responsible. which makes me really sad because I was one of the people who really enjoyed the New Age/Shin Sedai game for the PSX and this Goemon for the PS2 was that actual reason I bought the console...
Yes, Sony denied the game because the graphics "weren't up to their standards" i believe. Originally it was going to come to North America but half-way through the translation it got canceled.
As always, change is a no-go for 90% of society so even if this game were to be shipped to the US, it would not have done well. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Sony refused to allow Working Designs to ship this game to the West. It's a shame since I don't mind change at all and would've enjoyed this game. Besides, I would've enjoyed seeing how Goemon and his team first met.
My two $. Working Designs did finish a playable English version, as confirmed recently. It exists somewhere, but it was unreleased due to it being rejected by Sony. Second,it's not even emulated, and while not a bad game by any means, be wary it plays with the graphics and camera of a PlayStation 1 era game. It's more similar to Zelda: Ocarina of Time than the N64 Goemon games. But it borrows a very SCRAPPY Water Dungeon from the former, but none of the light-heartedness of the latter.
If only Sony weren't complete and total assholes, we could be playing this badass game right now. Hell, the whole series needs to come to the US... T_T
I can't speak of Ace Combat as i have not played it, but given the poor quality of Arcana Heart's storyline, i don't think having voices in there would have done a whole lot for the game anyways. 2D Fighters just need the original japanese voices in battle, some good gameplay, and some good characters and they're set to go really.
I agree that they've made some idiotic choices in deciding what to localize and what to skip on, but they're still a hell of alot better than microsoft if you ask me.
I think them being perverts is more or less just a rumor started by people who can't appreciate the games. But yeah, the current generation of gamers is quite disappoint, we're going to a point where all that matters is graphics and the combat consisting of nothing more than tapping the X or A button over and over. It's sad, but it looks to be the fate of games for this generation. I'm just thankful we still have a few companies making and publishing the few good games we still get.
You won't find a bigger Goemon fan than me, but trust me guys, you're not missing much with this one. I imported this game, and the graphics are terrible, the controls are awkward and the gameplay is repetitive and boring. This intro is by far the best part. There's a reason they chose not to localize this game- it doesn't come close to hitting the standard set by other games in the series.
I know you're probably asking yourself "why is this dude commenting on a post I made 4 years ago". Well, I've come in search of the band that performed this song, I wanna search and see what other music they have.
opining is epic but goemon looks all wring he has a cat face and what happend to his rosey cheeks and that i am cool but i still look like a 10 year old but im like 20 feeling now he just looks 19 and tall and not the cute anime that we all know and i bet the game is not funny either
It's more like North American Gamers are the enemy, really. There isn't a huge demand for 2D Games in North America, so Sony doesn't allow many 2D games. Is it the right choice? Hard to say, 2D games don't tend to sell especially well in North America, but there are people who want them. As far as lower quality 3D graphics go, they should just let those get released.
I hate Americs international laws who are they to say what people could play and cant play going as far as modifying game systems to be unable to play foreign games?
If this was a show I would definitely watch it
Unpopular Opinion: not gonna lie the storyline and the gameplay does look very interesting i like goemon’s design in this game I feel like this one along with new age goemon deserves more attention.
I'm not gonna lie. This game was the reason I got my PS2 modded to play imports. Worth every damn penny.
Sasuke..looks...so...AWESOME!!!
Yae is freaking sexier than before. Those jogging pants look neat on her too.
Man, it would probably be pretty embaressing when the survivers of that forest battle show up at their evil lord's base:

The music sounds like Dragonforce in Japanese.
they did, they made two actually

That's a shame. :( The Impact battles were amongst my favorite parts of the series.
@Masterherocard I bet you were furious when they turned Goemon's hair blue and introduced Sasuke.
@Yaenipponcover Ah yes, I remember all too well the new age Goemon game. It was yet another one of the Goemon games I liked. I think I said what I wanted to say about that game in the OP vid of said game. Anyway, I'm glad you understand what I was trying to say.
It's cancelled, so there is no way to know, rather than it being done by Working Designs.
does anyone have the game iso?
Wait...where's Impact?
懐かしい〜!!!!!
@purpleblizzard "change is a no-go for 90% of society"

Oh my god, why didn't this game appear on Europe or, at least, in America? I want to play it so badly!
It's not a cat... it's a young white tiger you meet in the game...
does anyone have the game iso?
When something like that big thing at the end appears, isn't he supposed to call Impact? But it was still pretty awesome.
Yeah -_-.I still wanna play it though, just because of the fact that it's GOEMON!!
Working Designs was trying to bring the game to the US for years, but the company folded before anything could happen.
Lol, I saw this on TV in Romania 2002
Does the song have a name, and where can I find more information on it? It just sounds so cool.
Does anyone know the name of this song?
Yes, Sony denied the game because the graphics "weren't up to their standards" i believe.

今見るとスタンド使いの戦いに見える
I...think that white tiger cub may be Byakko, one of the four gods in Asian belief.

both the animation and song are quite good, but why goemon looks like a kid, and why is yae using a ninja like sport suit o.o?
Lack of giant robots makes me sadfaec. :(

How can I go by getting it?
Don't think I'd enjoy it really since Goemon is the only playable character but still...looks cool
ヤエちゃん可愛い。エビス丸かっこいい
If only Sony weren't complete and total assholes, we could be playing this badass game right now. Hell, the whole series needs to come to the US... T_T
this video only goes to 0:52 and stop does it do it for anybody else?

Wait... The cub's name is Kotoro...
Sadly he's not in this one. This isn't the same Goemon as the last.
@Randysteele1992 this came before...
No...Impact? That's so...weird.
I agree that they've made some idiotic choices in deciding what to localize and what to skip on, but they're still a hell of alot better than microsoft if you ask me.
@Randysteele1992 lol you`re right xD
Anyone thinking of Blue Dragon after watching this? Also is it just me or does Japan have a fascination with White Tigers?
whats the name of the song?
What? No Impact??

Snes and N64 ones for the win.
