Rest easy, Toriyama. Thank you for EVERYTHING you’ve done for us, literally raising an entire generation, and teaching us to always push past our limits. Fly high, king.
I don’t know the kind of person I’d be without Toriyama’s work and influence. His Manga and anime practically raised me from elementary school to all the way in college. I remember coming home from after school and watching Dragonball on Toonami and witnessing Goku literally beating the shit out of Frieza, and instantly being hooked ever since. I begged my mom to get the original Budokai game, and spending the whole day beating it, and then replaying it. In 2021, we lost Kentaro Miura (Berserk), and now Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball), who shaped my childhood and adulthood. I'm so fortunate to have lived in this golden era, which sadly the next generations won't witness. The impact of these two on manga and anime is absolutely enormous. He will be missed deeply worldwide for making our childhoods special. I am happy to live during that special era. Every time I come home from school Dragon Ball Z was the first series I watched every night without missing a single episode. Dragon Ball was shown early Saturday mornings.

Now that I’m coming close to my 40’s, the message I get from Dragon Ball is to keep a pure heart. Corruption is always a weakness. Perhaps the best anime opening of all time... the feeling in the singer's voice, the instruments and 80's synthesizer, the sound effects, the lyrics, the visuals in synchrony with the song, the emotion in the character's facial expressions, the poetic imagery, the iconicness of every single second... this opening wasn't made, it was sculpted! This was actually the first anime opening i've ever watched as a kid, i vividly remember seeing the force of nature of the ice melting and the veins, i was instantly mesmesrized!
You described it well. In France we had an alternative opening, but in 1994 I bought the Bojak movie in VHS and discovered the Japanese opening for the first time. It was pure hype and power in the house with my cousin. Now 30 years later I’m still stunned by that opening. There is a soul in that video. It’s a piece of art.
@@bloodlineoriginal8872 That's amazing, i remember my young cousin feeling hyped by one of the openings, i wonder why they feel like they have to give an alternative to such a masterpiece, in Brazil they kept this opening and dubbed the song with a singer who's voice sounds a bit like the brazilian voice actor of Goku, and also they made the narrator say the title singing in the beginning of the opening, which is just so awesome, but one down side is that they didn't add the "Sparking!" line, i only found out about that much later, but like you said, this opening is just pure power!
