Thanx Man. Just bought these for my 05 grand marquis ill install em tmro. I may need two more tho after watching yourvideo. 4 on each spring 2 long way and 2 the short way cause ive got HEAVY speakers and the cars so long and heavy it still may not sit right w just 2 on each spring.
My rear struts are not coil over so I just unbolted the top mount and pulled down the A arm and used a pry bar as well to open up the spring to install the spacers. I didn't bother with zip ties but they seem like they won't go anywhere with the strut remounted and the weight of the car on the spring.
it might work better if you find a way to lower the top mounts of the shock , like taking a bit out of the top cup they mount intoo or putting a filler piece inside the cup , that way the spring whont be loaded in a weird way
I had a wreck and it pushed the rear wall of the trunk forward a little so I'm gonna do this I hammered it back some but it's still just barely rubbing can't hear it but can feel the heat
@@ruinedsubiesgarage to be fair i never really got to enjoy it or experience it long enough to give a detailed experience. I just needed it for my particular application
That's a mistake alot of people make: thinking it's aift. It's not! All ur doing is stopping the compression. If u want ride height higher then get the lift spacers that the coils sit on instead.
@@benwoodside31 theyre rubber spacers u can buy at autozone or any auto place. they fit on the spring. then loosly zip tie them on and slide them as far up as u need then. then tighten the zip ties and let the car down. thats what i did and it worked miracles for my car
Actually theres a video that came out shortly after this one where i bought the cheapest coilovers i could find. They have been fine. Sorry i couldnt tell you more about the spacers
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ not a whole lot from my limited time with them. I ended up buying coilovers for super cheap and went with them. They have been great so far.
I struggle to think how someone could be so inept they kill themselves compressing a normal car spring with typical tools. Old wives tale for car guys.
All due respect cuz I been-there-done-that....that thing is a time and money-sucking yellow deathtrap. No time to waste in 2021, flip vehicles and make $$$.
Learned a whole lot from this video and this dudes persistence yet patience!! hahaha
Something to take away is to just buy coilovers lol

Id suggest putting a mic muffle on when you record.. also the spacers work better at the top of the coil.
Great video though, thanks!
Being a strut, those will only add enough to max out the shock. Get a spacer for the top of the strut and you'll see some real gains
Would these be bad for your struts?
Simple solution. Great explanation. Dude, replace those brake rotors...
It's been like 5 years and I still havent
@soriar000440761
So you don't have any video to contribute to helping people as this gentleman, but you all amped up to critique his brake rotors.

I wonder if this would be a cheap substitute for a stiffer suspension for cornering at higher speeds.
Yes. But less travel
So here I found the car advise I was looking for...
The real advice is to not buy them and just buy coilovers like I did in the following episode
awesome. thanks for sharing. 🎯
Im sure if you wanted to. It would probably be better to space it out at the top of the strut than inbrtween the spring coils if you had a choice.
Thanks for this. Learning a lot from your video.
895.00 and I have a question if you have time tomorrow for a home 🏡 🙂 and a little better
very helpful. Thanks.
Wait a minute did you say LS swapped ok time to sub 😂
Are these bad for the struts? Just bought some but hesitant to put them in since it would affect the spring rate?
@@ruinedsubiesgarage to be fair i never really got to enjoy it or experience it long enough to give a detailed experience. I just needed it for my particular application
Nope. Installed these as well. No negative affect on strut/shocks at all.
good info.....thank you

How do you put spacers at top of strut
Struts?
Basically make metal plates that are the same Diameter with the holes cut out for the bolts and get longer bolts.

Can i put them 2 sets of them on the same spring so it lift higher?
Yes
was not expecting ls swapped or miata chassis swapped when I clicked on this video
How's it been since you added the spacers??
Actually theres a video that came out shortly after this one where i bought the cheapest coilovers i could find. They have been fine. Sorry i couldnt tell you more about the spacers
Is it possible to get 2 inches higher?
Id say no. Not without actual spacer machined blocks at the top. Better off with a new suspension combo like coilovers
@@thousanddollarcarguy coil overs?
Yes. Check out this video. th-cam.com/video/1qAsVEW0Fow/w-d-xo.html
Where can I get them
Amazon
Harbor freight has a tool that you can use so you don’t have to break it down
Whats the tool called?
Wish I had a Festival.
I would have given you a thumbs up but the counter was at 333 likes...it's a sign!
Uhh thanks. Almost. Lol
If you're removing it, just change the springs...
I feel like adjustable spacers would of made this easier
Do adding these make the car stiffer?
Technically they should yes.
@@thousanddollarcarguy yes. theoretically they should. How much would you say the did for you

I'd keep it only because they are getting rare and they're kinda fun to drive.
$11 about you time ?
Can you make the spacer yourself???
Of course.
Coilovers not coil springs buddy you're not going to get lift out of it because the coilover assembly compresses the spring to a particular size
Top and bottom coil is supposed to be the proper way.
Sorry to tell you but, it doesn’t have two sizes
How to remove
You didnt SHOW how you inserted them. Your arm was in the way
However safely you can pry the springs apart and wedge them in.
I have larger springs and they don't move. Easy peasy on smaller springs.
Jack it up higher
1st mistake, buying a Ford Festiva
Lol. You know this is a miata underneath right?

Oh my god. I have not seen (or used) these ghetto spring spacers since i was a kid in the 80’s. DO NOT USE THIS CRAP! Terrible idea. Terrible product.
I am leaning to your perspective. Why do so many people use these and why is there so little info on why it's such a bad idea?
What if one cannot get replacement springs for an older car? Scrap the car? I'd rather go this route for a few cents
@ no such thing. You can have any spring made for any car. You just need to research what the rates are.
