- This is the full step by step assembly video for the AuthentiKit replica Mustang P-51D throttle, fully functional in a flight simulator, which you can make yourself with a 3D printer, cheap commodity parts and free download files. It involves no cutting, soldering, programming or drilling. These are projects for the kitchen table not the workshop.

FYI, I beta tested this piece of artwork & have been learning to fly the P51 in DCS via the tutorials. I use Joystick Gremlin to set 3 virtual buttons for the mixture lever positions, although the ATK Tuning App can do the same sort of thing. I have been using it for a couple of weeks in VR & have to say that it adds to the complete immersion - seeing the throttle in-game & being able to use it in a tactile manner is superb. I especially love the sight ranging twist grip - makes it much easier (for me)
Thanks for the comment Phil and also for all your beta testing and retesting.
Printing out my P-51 Throttle now on my Prusa MK4 while I am waiting for my kit to arrive in the mail. After having done a ground school course on my local P-51, I am looking forward to flying around in the P-51 using this throttle. I have not been flying the P-51 in DCS as much as I would like, but this will now change. I have been searching for something like this for years, thanks for bringing these out.
Hey much appreciated. Share a few pics when you’re done please. Is your local p-51 a ‘D’?
@@AuthentiKit yes Vintage Wings has a P-51D painted in 442 Sqn colours. I will post some pics of my progress in the community section.
PPC, this is in my language veeery ... words, but in the same manner does mean that this is absolutelly gorgeaus.
OMG! ! ! ! I have a metal built one from a guy in Australia but its rough. THIS HERE is a dream come true! Thank you
Enjoy !
looks amazing Phil! Might have to look into that kit too! I've not bought a P-51 yet... so that might be a early Christmas gift for myself!
Looks absolutely top notch!! Well done as always!
Glad you like it!
Oh yes! Looks great. Thanks to everyone at AuthentiKit for such an amazing creation.
Couldn't agree more! Its a great community
Phil what an outstanding job! Been waiting for over a year.
Yeh, it's been a long wait I know. Share a pic when you've built it!
Awesome as always!!
Looks so good
Spectacular. Wonderful design.
Glad you like it!
very impressive, thank you for this amazing job!
Thanks for the feedback. I’m pretty pleased how it came out.
Woa man! I am getting this for my Bday next month what a piece of art!. Thank you so much! It will be my first build so I hope it goes well.
Happy birthday in advance! Have fun!
excellent work !!!!! just fantastic !!!!
Thank you so much 😀
This is amazing. Please consider the P-38 in the future.
I wil !
You should try Paint Sticks. It looks like a crayon, and you rub the paint stick on the recessed lettering and it will fill with paint. Very durable and easy to clean up.
I’ll definitely look into this. I’m always interested in better/easier ways of doing the lettering. Thanks!
What a beauty 🎉
Love it!
I would have thought the carburetor air controls would work. Looks incredible though.
Ideally, but we’re maxed out of inputs on the current board
Great looking piece of work, can't wait to built my own. Question, where do you got those self adhesive felt from?
The download includes sourcing links for everything. This is the list of all the standard Authentikit parts. authentikit.org/parts-directory/
Cheers!
Phil, you're not making this easy on me. I haven't flown the old school war birds for years but a P-51? For an American? Who lives in Illinois (can you say next day delivery)? Hehehe....
Seriously though, I have really enjoyed seeing what you and the community have come up with.
Ha ha. Yes, if my dastardly plan works out people will fall under the AuthentiKit spell in droves and (well designed) 3d printed replica controls will become a popular mainstream option.
Oh yeah!!!
I have the CH Throttle 6-lever quadrant so I can at least use all the functions, but gotta admit I want a dedicated WW2 module.
A friend, knowing I want at least the P-51 throttle, sent me the link to this module at your website and I've been checking out both it and the trim/flaps module, gotta say I'm impressed, good work!
For me on the customer end, the issues are 3d printing, there are no quoted prices and would then need to have 2 separate shipments from 2 different "entities", will you be streamlining that anytime in the near future?
Yes, that needs sorting. We have a formula for working out a mates rates price for others in the community to print parts for others. In the short term it will still be two parties supplying but hopefully in the future that can be simplified.
@@AuthentiKit Alright!
Been looking for Creality Ender's and there are enough to go around, so that shouldn't be an issue, but what about construction kit 1 & 2, do I need that as well? Or does everything needed to assemble the throttle kit (minus the 3d printed bits) actually come with the throttle kit?
@@ToreDL87 if you’re in the US and get the P51 starter kit then you have all you need for a functional throttle plus capacity to add the pedestal later if you wish. To build the pedestal you would need the construction kits or order the dedicated pedestal kit from the SKS UK shop.
This is fantastic. Thank you. I have all modules/maps for DCS World but can you confirm it works with XPLANE 11.5 as well?
I hope to go on an Orientation flight with Stallion 51 and fly back seat in a TF-51 in Orlando in January 2024 so I'd love to practice my sims with this.
No problem in x-plane! You'll just have to tune the axis for how the mixture states are handled. Our tuning app may be needed to map the axis to states,
OK, thank you@@AuthentiKit. I'll try to develop towards the end of this year. Thanks for your effort!

So, going to buy this and the pedestal kits with printing done by someone else, but I'm wondering if the screws are marked in the kit from simkitsupplies?
(Also, what most gamers don't know about the real P51 is that the prop lever really needs to be pushed a bit gently since the torque of the engine van react badly to rapid increases in throttle input. IOW, there really shouldn't be issues with twisting the throttle lever since you shouldn't be jerking the throttle back and forth. But it's still good you increased the thickness jic.)
Thanks for the info. The screws aren’t marked, but you can check lengths with a ruler.
Do I need the Construction Kits without the starter kit available or do I just have to buy all the available parts on the throttle page? I plan on making the Throttle and Pedestal, just not too sure what to buy.
P51d starter kit gets you throttle and hub and mounting system. To add the pedestal either get the construction kits from US site or from UK site you can get a pedestal kit
@@AuthentiKitah I see thanks, I was looking at the UK shop
@@AuthentiKit Do you know if the P51D starter kit will be available in the US any time soon? Will try sourcing the parts or buying from the UK shop if not.
Stock is on its way now i’m told. Should be in the US warehouse early next week.
so how much?? looks good
