Thanks for another DIY fellas! Been real curious on the install of this.. it's on the list and would match well with all the other racingline bits on the car. I could definitely use the lower temps and more capacity, paired with a bigger pan those temps should definitely drop a noticeable amount!

    3 Questions:
    1) I live in New England and mostly daily drive my S3. Would this be okay to run in the winter or would I need to pull it off? Would getting a thermostatic sandwich plate (Provided the kit doesn't come with one) solve this issue?
    2) I regularly see 218-230 temps on the highway and around town. Is that too high?
    3) The metal filter is like $50 dollars every time, how often should it be replaced? Is there any alternatives? Is there a cloth/paper filter of the same size?

Looks like a quality bit of kit, do you have a picture with the bumper installed? Looking at my '17 R it seems like it would interfere with the factory shrouding around the primary heat exchangers. Seems like for manual cars like mine a better location might be where the DSG cooler would be but the lines definitely aren't long enough for that.

How will this affect my car in colder climates? We get 25-30C summers in the UK but it can get to -5 in the winter. Will this make my oil too cold? I plan on taking the car to a few track days so want more cooling.
Any advice from you car nerds?

How would you clean the metal mesh filter?

Is that oil filter adapter a recommended upgrade for anyone who currently has the stick-thingy? Never seen the one with the spring before
And I'm assuming that, even though the 1.8 isn't listed on the oil cooler compatibility chart, it'll work, seeing as how Alltrack, and everything...

I'd be interested to know how your A/C system works when it gets hot out seeing how you have the oil cooler mounted right in front of the A/C condenser lines. The hot air from the oil cooler will exhaust right on those lines.

Good question! So, I estimate at around 95 degrees F outside the “cold” side of the condenser would be around 140-160F. Not substantially cooler than the oil in the oil cooler. So it’ll have essentially no effect on the AC performance. 👍🏼

Very interested in somthibg like this for my Mk2 Tiguan. I drive 30, 000 miles a year and but I plan to keep this car for a while. I'm sure one could benefit in long-term care by keeping oil temps low.
As usual, great job on this video 😉, you've spiked my interest.
