Very interesting. I have driven past that area on I75 every time I visit my son in Marietta GA and never went there or to Lookout Mtn. I have visited many caves such as Mammoth Cave, Luray Caverns, and Penn's cave. One of the favorite activities in PA at Penn State is caving. They still use carbide lights for that. The next time I will have to spend some time in Chattanooga, and go to Ruby Falls. My daughter was just at the Tennessee aquarium in Chattanooga as she works in PR for zoos and aquariums all over the country. Years ago we visited the Chattanooga choo choo. I live in Cincinnati and the first railroad to go from Cincinnati to Chattanooga in 1880 opened up the south to passenger rail transportation. It was given that nickname. The rail line was operated by the Cincinnati Southern Railroad which was America's first municipal railway system. Until last year Cincinnati still owned the 337 miles of track to Chattanooga. The voters approved the sale of it in November to Norfolk Southern.

Thanks Tim. Very interesting. Beautifully filmed in spite of lighting. Wonderful things are created subsurface. Mineral specimens and rocks are fascinating. I’ve been underground in a mine but it’s not comfortable to me. I’m impressed by geologists, miners and the spelunking enthusiasts. You are much braver than many so it’s great that we can benefit from your adventures. Well done.

Oh my word! Tim, That was absolutely beyond words. Definitely a place to see if you can get to Chattanooga! Thank you very much for taking the time to video this. I can only imagine what it's like to be there. Wondering what the entrance to this cave looks like and also the location and vicinity of the castle in relation to the mountain and cave. The man who made this all happen is a hero to mankind. Then to think he might have missed the falls by a few feet or yards could not have been an accident. Just saying.

Hello Tim, this was interesting, as far as I'm concerned. I was thinking about how Mr. Lambert was able to fit in such tight spaces without getting panicky, or worried that he couldn't get back! 😨😵‍💫 He had to have nerves of steel. That wouldn't be me. 😵 Are they concerned with contamination with human breath and/or placing their hands into pristine water? Pollution from the ground could be brought in also. I'll leave by saying you did a great job, but I'll stay at home and watch you (brave man). 😄 Take care, love your collection of blue shirts, they bring out the blue in your eyes!

Thank you for the tour. Is it strenuous for someone who is out of shape. Did The Lost Sea and made it back up but was getting concerned. 😩 Lived in East Ridge in mid 60’s in fifth and sixth grade and loved it, but never made it to Lookout Mountain. Visited Rock City with a friend but do not remember the falls. Recently went back to eat at Bea’s Restaurant on Dodd’s Avenue, a Sunday favorite when we lived there. Enjoying your videos. Your voice reminds me of Mike Roe.😁

Not strenuous at all. No steps to climb. All by elevator!

Great video! Thanks for sharing! We have been to Chattanooga a few times but didn't go to Ruby Falls unfortunately. But our son and his wife went there in October. My husband I are planning to go in near future. We don't live too far from there - 3.5 hours without stopping.

I had never heard of Ruby Falls, I live in a distance of 20 min drive to Multnomah Falls in Oregon that is amazing as well, but a totally different environment. I do have problems w closed spaces and I might have a problem being in there, but if I had the chance, I would give it a try probably. I am wondering what the air is like down there, is it really humid, does it smell of anything, does water drip on you? Do you think any critters or plants live down there? I really appreciated the video and the story, so thank you for taking us there :)

The air is surprisingly fresh. They do give everyone an opportunity to go back up if they start to feel closed in. There have been mice found down there, but I didn’t see any. .)
