    I connect with my inner Viking while power carving this Cup. It certainly took longer than what I thought it would, I guess true Vikings didn't have modern day time constraints. They also didn't have power carving tools or Kutzall burrs.
    This is Carved out of Rosewood offcut that I got from a friend. The details are from bronze welding rods and brass jewelry pins.
    A big thankyou to all my followers for the lovely coments you leave and I hope you enjoy this video

Keep going and you will, finish. Excellent carving Matt. One day I'll maybe get close to your work,though I doubt it .🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😁👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Really beautiful and creative. I’ve just recently started power carving and this helps me refine an idea for a kuksa type mug where the cup part is a full lower jaw of feeding whale, and the handle will be the tail. Great work... love the wire accents! Cheers from Montana USA.

    Wow that's awesome, I love how the tree turned out. Have you thought of setting that project in resin? Anyway I'm looking at getting some "big" tools is the bandsaw or scroll saw more useful in carving?

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers, that's a tough one to answer. Band saw probably has a lot more general applications it's great for cutting odd shaped woods down to a usable pieces. Scroll saws are more specialized for details. I would say I personally use the band saw more.

    Superb. I'm currently making kuksa with ax and knife, but have a dremel. The terrier bit, how is it attached to your dremel and do you have a link where you purchased please?

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi the terrier bit just screws onto the dremel. I bought it in New zealand from carbatec. I think they are originally made in england. Sorry dont know who else sells them. I find the Arbortec ball gouge is my favorite for hollowing out kuksas, spoons however they fit onto a angle grinder.

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      most of my spoons or cups are ornamental so doesn't really matter. But have used just kitchen cooking oil for some usable spoons I made. I do have a wooden coffee cup, I finished the outside with beeswax and nothing on the inside as hot water will dissolve every thing. You do need to be more careful if selling your items as some woods are toxic as well.

    Hi Matt. Which attachment did you use to create the planking effect? The video wasn’t too close to the dremel for me to deduce how you achieved this.

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check this video out at 2:20 min it's a dremel high speed cutter. You can use other cutter s though. th-cam.com/video/HT9EtSHyIoI/w-d-xo.html

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one was sold as an ornamental piece in the end. If you are going to make a usable cup you might want to research the type of wood you use as some have a lot of tannins in them which might be bad for you. cheers for watching👍
