I am already an "unofficial" X-Plane Evangelist. People like me, who are passionate not only about the simulator but also about the LR Team and the work they're doing, would love to find ways to be more supportive. Ah hem, Thompson... find ways to use us.

Youngesters LOL -- My first flight sim experience was with a Sinclair Z80 16Kb RAM, black & white TV, 64 × 48 screen resolution (that's correct, not 640x480), software loaded from K-7 using a regular tape recorder which would take some 15 minutes to load. 🙂

We do have MSFS to thank a little bit. They are pushing LR to new heights. Austin never used to be about graphics but since msfs 2020 came out they new expectations where now much higher than before. MSFS and XP have a love hate relationship but I think betters LR to be the better IMO. MSFS is like a divorced ex but still wants to try and conquer Flight Sim but XP keeps moving up the ladder quicker and which I think provided better quality to the consumer. For a better terms it's a healthy love hate relationship for the two sims. MSFS gave LR the push the majority desired.

@@Jon87224 MSFS has already dominated the flight sim scene, are you kidding? Far more hardcore simmers use it than XP.

@@tubeloobsOf course they are! They are corporate. LR is an Indie team. LR is still very good. I could care less about which sim has more popularity. The quality here in LR is better than MSFS in my personal opinion in the work place. Graphics not so much but getting there. Customer support from LR is awesome. I have talked with the founder, Austin several times about the sim and responded accordingly even though he's so busy! These guys are genuine and have no shareholders so they can do what they want without fear of reprecussion which is great! They are their own boss pretty much and Austin allows freedom.

@@antoniomaruge8218 I dunno, might go to an iPhone forum and tell them how good Android is. Pretty pointless discussions all the time. It's Austin's baby, he runs a company that has staff, who feed their families and pay their mortgages with what they earn from x-plane. Plus Austin is a multi milionair. Like to see some if these MSFS cohorts reach those dizzy heights.
Live and Let live. Let people enjoy whichever sim they want and stop being so childish.
By the way this is a general reply / comment and not directed at anyone here in this thread in particular. 😁

@@Jon87224 Poor argument. MS is corporate and they're doing whatever they want too. They're turning the industry upside down by making a sim that has a ton of free stuff. Where's X-Plane's default charts and foreflight level flight planner? You talk nonsense about quality but MSFS has the better default planes and MUCH better default avionics. Tell LR to try to keep up lol

I wasn't there but as an intermediate standard XP scenery developer I'd have asked for a way to animate vehicle obj's (eg lorries) to follow a path. I'd also say the forum is useful but difficult to find solutions, so the establishment of an online XP 'Academy' would help pilots, scenery developers to graduate to the ext level. XPs open source ethos is superb, but this would supercharge it.

12.1 bloom introduced bubbling/flickering shadows on the wings of my GA aircraft looking out the side/front windows from inside the cockpit, and being a canard wing fan this is unacceptable since the front canard wing is ALWAYS in my view. I flew nothing BUT XP12 from the end of summer 2023 up to the 12.1 betas and rc’s. I’m now back to almost exclusively MSFS, yes flight model is very important, yes I realize XP is a simulator and msfs is a game, but there are other areas of realism that are important too, and having been into real GA flying in the 90’s .. I find the overall experience now in MSFS more realistic overall. I’ve invested A LOT of money into XP12 the past year and am not real happy about this. Fortunately my XP12.09 still works without bloom issues, and I can fly my beloved Long-EZ on long cross country’s over Orbx TE Ortho without staring at a flickering wing the whole time 🙄
