My problem with Matt isn't the subject matter so much as the fact that it's boring, unoriginal and meh. Like I totally understand why others are offended by the content. Punching down is not good comedy (no pun intended whatsoever) but for me personally I'm offended at how tiresome his schtick is. Another mediocre white boy comic trying to be controversial. We have plenty of controversial white men in comedy who actually are funny so why bother with handsome Squidward here
I don’t think a lot of people realize that Matt’s whole view of ‘oh this humor will get more men to like me than women’ is also insulting to men…..he’s just assuming all men will think sexist unfunny jokes about DV are hilarious? Get your middle school humour out of here, dog. Men and women are both bored of it.
All of this. It's "for the boys"? Yeah maybe for 13 year old edgelords but every person with an iq higher than room temperature has a more sophisticated sense of humor
For me it wouldn't even get that far. I would message him on AOL and send screenshots to my besties.... he would be the laughing stock of the school overnight and then mock me for being queer even though it's tattooed on my forehead
Matt Rife telling Jordan Peterson he doesn't understand why people get mad instead of just not engaging in things they don't enjoy and then him getting into beef with a literal child whose video was responding to Netflix, not Matt is so hilariously hypocritical.
I feel bad for the kid being involved at all, what kind of mother/father/grandparent (or any responsible parent/guardian)) let's a kid online without supervision? Back in the beginning of the Internet it's more understanding, but these days....
@@hattarapilvi Wow, didn't the mother make a response video? 😂 I fixed my comment so it wouldn't trigger you too, you're welcome. Because.... a six year old shouldn't be on social media, the age limit is 13. @@lilelo208why do you assume it was unsupervised? And why are you looking for anyone to blame besides the grown adult man who decided to clap back at a literal child online? Weird.
still laughing at "she buries my antidepressants in the garden because she thinks I fuck better when my anger's unresolved." better than anything mike roofie has ever said or will ever say
He made the grave mistake of assuming that every man who showed up was straight from a 90s bit about guys being dragged to things by their wives. He failed to consider that not only do some men actually like things women like, but also that the men going to something just for their partner to be happy probably won't be won over by the entertainer insulting and disappointing her. He still can't accept that there are men criticizing him because he's convinced they all must resent women as much as he does.
Right. My Mum and stepdad are Gen X. They go to comedy shows when they can and they only do it if they both like the comedian otherwise it’s a waste of a ticket 🤷
Absolutely, minus one thing. There's no such thing as things women like and things men like. People are very unique and gender, sex, sexuality, and more don't really have an effect on people's interests or behavior. Unless you make it have an effect, via conditioning. People are much more than that. We need to see every individual as a unique being, we can't generalize
He also assumed that every man there was straight. Which, yeah, not the point of the comment, but I just can't imagine how hilarious it would be for him to find out there was a guy at one of his shows there that was only there because he thought he was hot. He'd probably have a whole turn and be like "my shows are for the bros, not THOSE guys." At least, that's the vibes he gives.
My boyfriend will often take us to the movies for films that only I like. Because he likes going to things that make me happy. We recently had to leave it movie because it was too graphic for me and I kept saying is it OK? is it OK that I wasted a movie ticket because he had a pass. And he went, I only went to this to make you happy and you are not happy right now so we are leaving. It wasn’t a waste. We just learned that you didn’t like this film.
I loved when Matt said that women buy the tickets and the boyfriends reluctantly join them and "after 20 minutes they are like, oh, this show is funny, it's more for the guys" Like that the fact it would take ANY audience 20 minutes to find something funny in your comedy is embarrassing. And I know he probably wasn't being literal, but STILL.
@@MissCaraMint It's also weird to say Dave Chappelle is funny right now, given that his current "comedy" only consists of making fun of trans people, and punching down on people with less money than him. So yeah, actually, maybe Matt Rife really is "Dave Chappelle funny."

The fact he thought it was appropriate to allude to sexual content to a six year old is… interesting… Not that the six year old would know, but he behaved like he was beefing with a fellow adult and not, y’know, a six year old. Super cool and mature thing to do!
As if a six year old would have an opinion on OF, let alone look down on it, let alone be upset his mom can pay for everything by being hot. Is he jealous of women in that way? Is that why it triggers him, and he is desperate to not be known for his looks? That basically explains every single thing he talks about
@@nailinthefashion Yeah like, what was he expecting him to reply with? 😂 I definitely think he’s projecting onto the women who use OF. He’s likely seen so many women be told ‘just looking hot isn’t a real job’ that he latches onto that concept to protect himself, he thinks no one will take him seriously just as those people don’t take those women seriously. And then contributes to the problem by parroting the same rhetoric he feels insecure about, even to children who have no clue about any of this stuff yet. Poor Matt, those mental gymnastics must be so exhausting.
@@nachoian the fact that he even addressed the kid and not the mom? The fact that he was actually that upset even though Saturn is a better answer than Jupiter??? Even if he's hung, this ruins the reputation, it can't be over 7! This is typical average attitude. He's probably dated women who have OF and felt really inadequate knowing they make more off of less effort. It screams bitterness to me. Worst part is this is what he'll be known for like how Steven Crowder is the dude who cross dressed despite mocking it, sexually harassed his employees, turned down 50 million dollars to be more evil and got a messy divorce on top of all if it. Rife is totally on that path.. prob won't even get that far
@nailinthefashion why would the mom put her child in that situation to begin with. She may not be making money off her body imo that would be more moral than exploiting your child for views and attention. I don't think any parent should plaster their child online. So many times abuse is happening of some type Matt is also lame for responding but the way I see it she's also lame for putting her child in that situation.
I really love when you roast 'comedians' because you're easily and effortlessly 100× funnier than they are, and it really just highlights how basic and untalented they are.
Matt Rife built his whole brand on being a "hot guy" comedian, but like, there are a lot of attractive comedians?? Rife has also talked about not wanting people to pay more attention to his arms than his jokes, but there are a ton of gymrat comedians, too. He made being an attractive comedian his whole personality and then failed to be attractive or funny.
what can i say? hot guys are like catnip to me, but i can go out and find a hot guy who also respects women so why would i stick around for matts bs lol
im BEYOND happy that you did this video. RIP HIM TO SHREDS HONEYYY. So many of us as women are already talked down to enough. we don't need him adding on top pf our trauma. I was absued my whole life by my father verbally, emotionally, mentally and physically to the point where im 23, been away from him for 6 yrs and still doing very intense healing to help myself function normally in my everyday life or just society. He made my brain have to survive in ways it shouldn't have and through his absuse he made me a very hurt, angry and agressive woman who is loaded w anxiety and depression. Theres even been times i wanted to check out, jokes like this makes every victim of abuse feel like we don't matter, like our healing isnt important, like WE arent important. I love you ladies, every one of you that has been hurt like i have or just everyone in these comments in general. I see you, I hear you, I believe you and i am sending you ALL of my love!
You're such a trooper and this comment really tickled me as a fellow survivor. We really do be out here in the trenches lmao hope your journey is more gentle babes. Let's brace for 2024
He seems to presume that all the women in the audience are only there because they think he’s handsome, which, bizarrely, is simultaneously misogynistic and reductive of his own comedic abilities. This is not just him, to be fair, but it’s also annoying when conventionally attractive people assume that everyone finds them attractive. Not everyone is into Henry Cavill 😂
Honestly, it IS sort of funny, because he's basically saying that he knows they can't be there for his jokes since he isn't funny. 😂 And has a chip on his shoulder about it. Idk, there's a weird trope in comedy where you kind of can't be seen as both funny and hot, so maybe he's referencing that?
It shows how simply they think. “If I lift weights I’ll be hot!” Meanwhile not everyone is even into muscles.. let alone white dudes, let alone clean cut ones like …. Bro has an ego the size of jupiter
He really pointed at Domestic Abuse and just expected us to laugh. Honestly very nice of him to tell us right off the bat he's too dumb to make a real joke
Right? And what was that BS in the Jordan Peterson interview about putting a new spin or having a new take on it? It was literally just "A woman was abused and she deserved it. Ha ha."
He lacks self awareness to a shocking degree. He says you can't offend him because he's dead inside then talks about how defensive he is. He literally bullied a kid for pointing out an astronomy error in one of his jokes and that's over the top. Ironically, he also says if anyone has a problem with your content, keep posting it. So, the kid should critique him more by that logic. Again, Matt Rife hates social media. His dad died when he was a baby and his stepdad beat the crap out of him growing up, so now he's laughing about DV against women. It's just a lot of hypocrisy.
The kid is being used by his clout chasing mom. I never liked rife but you all are playing into his hand by talking about him so heavily. That is all the special was. A clear FU to people who only liked him because his perceived looks. He just wants to prove to the other unfunny rogan comedians that he is one of them and gain that audience.
I work with kids with disabilities and some of the kids at my school have to wear helmets because they have seizure disorders that make them fall risks. This guy is a d bag of the highest order.
My sister did not wear any such helmet but suffers severe epilepsy. In June of 2020, she fell and shattered her jaw in six places. She had to be rushed into surgery and get her jaw wired shut at the absolute peaks of both “what the fuck is this virus” and “oh god it is everywhere” and “we might get a cure next year”. If I could go back in time and give her a helmet, you bet your ass I would. She couldn’t eat solid food for SIX WEEKS. That is a lifesaving device and he had no business using it as the butt of his joke.
Around the time this special came out, my partner and I were watching through all of Inkmaster. There was a super touching episode where they had the artists decorate safety helmets for children with disabilities. I cried through the whole thing because people are so cruel to bully kids for wearing helmets that SAVE THEIR LIFE. Matt using these kids that already get bullied as the butt of an unfunny joke tells you EXACTLY what type of person he is. No amount of plastic surgery can fix that type of ugly. Edited to add: it’s s13 if anyone wants to find it! It’s an amazing episode. Jerrell and Nathan stole my heart.
Currently watching this waiting for my Pap smear, and honestly feel like I’ll be more comfortable getting that done than listening to Matt Rife for even 5 seconds
yeah I guess because both of them think it would just end if women could just suck it up and laugh about it instead of 'making a fuss about it' (and yes I am only talking women getting abused because those are the type of guys who wouldn't think a man being abused is a thing)
Yeah, Jordan Peterson, the guy who openly, on camera, lamented that he wasn't allowed to physically fight the women he disagreed with, would be the one to think misogyny ended DV.
Not gonna lie, my first reaction was, “ugh… another Matt Rife segment…what could possibly said that hasn’t been said already?”… but you really pulled through and delivered some HIGH QUALITY content here. Nick has made me CRY laughing with some of the most disgusting and dark jokes I've ever heard in my life. It's a skill...a skill Rife doesnt even begin to grasp lol
Usually dark humor or unhinged humor is funny because it's self deprecating. When you have someone who's seemingly never experienced anything like that's where it's unfunny and lame.
@tallburntbacon8224 I'm not 100% sure on this, but "All American looks" means that Matt is considered attractive by most Americans, while "All Eastern-European ancestry" might hint at the fact that not being fully "American" (but still white) is considered attractive.
Ppl knew Matt rife from his crowd work, where he came across as engaging, kind, and fairly open-minded. Even when he was handling heckers, he seemed resonable. So his Netflix sp felt like a departure from how he potrayed himself. He built his entire set around being accepted by toxic negative men. The problem is these men, while loud online, are not gonna spend real money on Matt rife. Hopefully internet points puts a roof on his head.
In my opinion it isn't that they won't spend money to go see him, but, that they aren't a community worth pandering to. Steven Crowder learned that the hard way. Money is awesome, but that's all they're good for, THAT is the real problem to me. He now has to quite literally never respect women or be kind or he will lose not just his audience, but all the wealth he's used to, since that's when all the bridges are burnt.
This is the kind of guy that uses what he perceives as lesser people to build his base, and then trashes them to get to what he perceives as the higher level people.
"You just want to say the most shocking thing that you can while still sounding like someone who is wearing a tie" is probably the most efficient summation of Jordan Peterson that I've heard haha

The fact that I have seen this comment multiple times across different videos said in different ways is juuussssst... whipped cream on my seasonally appropriate pie!!!!!
There was a tweet a while ago that said, "you were either popular in high school or you're funny now," and I can't stop thinking about that in terms of people like Matt Rife.
I’m a 43 year old queer fem woman. . I will never achieve the confidence or glam that Nick displays every video. I live vicariously through Nicks exuberant personality. So proud of the audience he’s cultivated over the years. ❤🎉
He's not a pretty-boy, he's an edgelord! Which has the same energy of being served a really bland meal, and then being told it contains 25 grams of ground-up toenails.
The worst part to me is that he is a straight white male who works out AND has the sense of humor of a 13 year old who hates his mom. That's the twist, he doesn't have the regal speaking tone, the culture, none of that, just a clean cut look. And that's why he's that much harder for the normies to ignore, at least if he was worse than Quasimodo (arguably already is) the normies would see the outside matches the inside.
I've avoided most videos about this guy because I don't think he's deserving of any of this attention, but I do appreciate Nick's take on these kinds of things. Also I'm not even a Harry Potter fan and I could absolutely understand why people didn't get that it was a John Lennon tattoo. I feel like Matt needs to attend a Daniel Sloss show to actually learn the difference between "dark/controversial/edgy" comedy and being a rubbish comedian.
See it's tough for me.... I don't want him to be a comedian... but I also don't want him to become a cop, which is the only thing he would do if he wasn't doing this. So at least his figurative cop wife is safe this way.
Matt ‘Rife with Misogyny’ spent so much on the veneers, the Botox, the cheek implants, & the steroids just so he looked less like a lil trash bug, and now is like, “OMG it’s soooo hard to be this hot, it means I actually am working harder at my jokes” yeah bud, truly what a burden to be cursed with that face you maxed out your credit cards for

Why does all (well not all) problematic people get their own Netflix series/specials? But then again, Netflix is very shady so I don’t know why I should complain.
Netflix isn't a fully liberal platform. They gotta remember the other side still subscribes. This is how obvious it's becoming in the media split. We saw it with Sound of Freedom too. Super dystopia
27:28 There's something called "self-awareness". You need to be able to step back and go "This joke may be funny, but should it be coming out of *my* mouth?" In this situation the answer is: No! A disabled person should be telling this joke! Thanks for playing, yassified Minecraft Steve
The fact that Netflix hopped on the opportunity to give Matt Rife a special but turned Matteo Lane down multiple times blows my mind. Clearly, their decision was based solely on Tik Tok numbers 🙄
Matteo would have killed it. Netflix’s higher ups stay fumbling the bag…. Anyone who thought social media following and engagement immediately equates to mainstream success lacks the ability to sit down and think critically .
it’s a common joke to post a picture of harry potter and say “rip john lennon” so….. also, it’s a CHOICE and a half to have a tattoo of lennon considering he was a wife beater. almost like he doesn’t give a shit about domestic abuse, or “bringing it to light” because he got a tattoo to memorialise and protect the legacy of a man who beat his wife, and called his first son just a “bottle of scotch” all while preaching all you need is love and writing beautiful boy for his new son with his new family. there would be ways to get a tattoo for the music of lennon and not get just an image of him. plus, i don’t believe he doesn’t know who jordan peterson is one bit. considering peterson’s audience is exactly who rife wants to appeal to, it’s a bit TOO coincidental.
Nick, I always so deeply appreciate your ability to help us digest a triggering subject through humor and social context. It helps me approach the world feeling much less alone. Also you look fantastic as always, red is such a good color on you ❤
When he said "lick yo butt" with the blackcent it honestly made it SOOOO much less funny than if he just said in his own voice "lick your butthole" lol
I mean, in Matt Rife's defense, it's really hard to grow a Human Growth Hormone jawline without actually bulking or gaining significant muscle. Must've taken a lot of work (and a lot of cocaine, the real hero of his career)
This is a super small observation that doesn't matter, but of course in the interview with JP, Matt talks about seeing kids playing outside and not on their phones and how rare that is. I am sick of that rhetoric, it's so boring. Every time my wife and I take a walk around the neighborhood we see kids playing outside and we tell each other things like: "I don't think the kids are allowed to be doing that... is that a bicycle? Kids now days can't ride bicycles.... chalk!?!? Didn't they outlaw chalk?" “Is that a basketball hoop at the end of their driveway? No, it can’t be, kids no longer have coordination for sports because they only know how to tap on their iPads.” In the summer they even do swim lessons at the pool! And they don't have their phones with them! How is any of this possible!??!
Matt has the depth of a puddle. I could tell throughout that interview he was attempting to appeal to Jordan in whatever way he could sine he couldn’t navigate Jordan peterson’s often verbose and abstract rhetoric…. Matt is definitely the type of person who has no ability to conceptualize how life is outside of his own experience.

Matt Rife telling Jordan Peterson he doesn't understand why people get mad instead of just not engaging in things they don't enjoy and then him getting into beef with a literal child whose video was responding to Netflix, not Matt is so hilariously hypocritical.
Yeah, the irony is way funnier than any joke he could come up with

Because.... a six year old shouldn't be on social media, the age limit is 13. Not saying they deserve to be bullied but this is the Internet of people assuming things, so it's not exactly a healthy environment. Which means the adults of this situation are in the wrong.

Agree, fantastic comment✨✨
I loved when Matt said that women buy the tickets and the boyfriends reluctantly join them and "after 20 minutes they are like, oh, this show is funny, it's more for the guys"
Like that the fact it would take ANY audience 20 minutes to find something funny in your comedy is embarrassing. And I know he probably wasn't being literal, but STILL.
Why can't ya make BOTH genders laugh, Matt? XD
I think its take 20 minutes to admit he's funny which he is like he's not dave chappelle funny but he's funny

Rife is totally on that path.. prob won't even get that far
@nailinthefashion why would the mom put her child in that situation to begin with. You're strong and kind. I hated that he further implied that it was her shortcoming that made the abuse happen. Best wishes on your path to healing.
Im sorry for you but you are not all women thankfully
He seems to presume that all the women in the audience are only there because they think he’s handsome, which, bizarrely, is simultaneously misogynistic and reductive of his own comedic abilities. This is not just him, to be fair, but it’s also annoying when conventionally attractive people assume that everyone finds them attractive. Not everyone is into Henry Cavill 😂
Not everyone is into Henry Cavill, but he does have an objectively better jawline than Matt.
this guy clearly wishes he could look like Henry Cavill, but the surgeon couldn't quite make it work... shame.
Yo Henry Cavill does not deserve to be compared to m*tt r*fe
Honestly, it IS sort of funny, because he's basically saying that he knows they can't be there for his jokes since he isn't funny. 😂 And has a chip on his shoulder about it. Idk, there's a weird trope in comedy where you kind of can't be seen as both funny and hot, so maybe he's referencing that?
It shows how simply they think. “If I lift weights I’ll be hot!” Meanwhile not everyone is even into muscles.. let alone white dudes, let alone clean cut ones like …. Bro has an ego the size of jupiter
“You look like a GI Joe that’s been in the microwave” yessss hearing you drag this particular genre of man is healing my inner child
I love this immediately because he would HATE being called social media-famous, despite that being what quite literally made his career take off
Ya lately he’s bragging about after he gets famous and gets his money, he wants to be completely off social media and walk away from Hollywood.
Ha ha."
People did admidly laugh in person tho
The punchline is that Nick's asides are funnier than any joke Matt's ever told.
Jerrell and Nathan stole my heart.

yeah I guess because both of them think it would just end if women could just suck it up and laugh about it instead of 'making a fuss about it' (and yes I am only talking women getting abused because those are the type of guys who wouldn't think a man being abused is a thing)

I feel like Matt needs to attend a Daniel Sloss show to actually learn the difference between "dark/controversial/edgy" comedy and being a rubbish comedian.
Yes! Daniel Sloss is incredible.
Pretty sure he went to a surgeon and said "I want to look like the guy who bullied me in high school, I can do the personality on my own"
See it's tough for me.... I don't want him to be a comedian... but I also don't want him to become a cop, which is the only thing he would do if he wasn't doing this. So at least his figurative cop wife is safe this way.
I don't think his figurative wife is safe no matter what line of work he's in, but at least he can't get to any underprivileged kids
@@cheeto.burrito she IS safe because he IS alone. lol
Matt ‘Rife with Misogyny’ spent so much on the veneers, the Botox, the cheek implants, & the steroids just so he looked less like a lil trash bug, and now is like, “OMG it’s soooo hard to be this hot, it means I actually am working harder at my jokes” yeah bud, truly what a burden to be cursed with that face you maxed out your credit cards for
I wanted this video so bad because you’re so damn funny and he’s not, this is gonna be so satisfying.
Nick demolishing Matt Rife here IS the best comedy I've seen all day 🤣🤣👏👏👏
39:51 "you’re not even a human face" has me ROTFL 😭
"a straight teeth personality" is not something I'd ever heard but instantly knew exactly what you meant
I think Matt Rife needs to take ColonBroom for all occasions in his life.
But... Wouldn't that mean the end of his 'comedy' career?
@@hambeastdelicioso1600 Possibly but that doesn't sound like a bad thing... He already messed up. You only get one chance at famous, I'm afraid.
I love that Nick has no idea who Jordan is and automatically called him out as a stuttering imbecile. And his impression of him had me rolling. What an icon 💀💙
"You're not a 'girl's girl', Matt Rife.... You're not even a human face!" OMG I'm DYING! xDD
Thank you so much for addressing the appropriation of AAVE in “comedy”! I love how you always try to address any social issue that pertains to what is being discussed. Your channel is such a supportive, educated space, even down to your critiques on how things are filmed because of your background. Much love, Nick!
someone said he looks like a Big Mouth character and I can't stop seeing it
Yessss he issss!!
"I don't think you could tell me a fun fact about yourself if it were written in an obituary." I fucking screamed! 💀
Why does all (well not all) problematic people get their own Netflix series/specials? But then again, Netflix is very shady so I don’t know why I should complain.
More talk=more clicks
Netflix isn't a fully liberal platform. They gotta remember the other side still subscribes. This is how obvious it's becoming in the media split. We saw it with Sound of Freedom too. Super dystopia
@@camille1324"It's a formula, a very simple formula!"
It’s gotta be a room full of white men. Straight ones.
14:58 i can’t believe u edited this interview this way 😂😂😂 it made the conversation waay more funny than his stand up in it’s entirety
“T-t-today, junior!!” edit make me GUFFAW
27:28 There's something called "self-awareness". You need to be able to step back and go "This joke may be funny, but should it be coming out of *my* mouth?" In this situation the answer is: No! A disabled person should be telling this joke! Thanks for playing, yassified Minecraft Steve
Yassified Minecraft Steve ended me! I love that
The fact that Netflix hopped on the opportunity to give Matt Rife a special but turned Matteo Lane down multiple times blows my mind.
Also you look fantastic as always, red is such a good color on you ❤
the "fun fact/obituary" line was BRUTAL
The amount of times I gaped at the screen like a baby sparrow about to be fed because of Nick roasting Matt was insane
"I don't think you could tell me a fun fact about you if it were written in an obituary" omg i love these jokes from Nick cacklinggg
Must've taken a lot of work (and a lot of cocaine, the real hero of his career)
he got the squidward make under.
hate it.
When you said he was 28, I literally gasped. All that work he’s had done has aged him so much. I cannot believe he’s the same age as me.
Nick I'm so disappointed you didn't use "speaking of being full of shit.. ColonBroom" as a transition lol.
He made an even bigger mistake talking to jordan peterson, a well known pos.
