Same holds true for Television shows. Big shows like Buffy and Friends that got full runs are probably safe, and some small shows canned early like Firefly has its cult audience keeping it relevant enough... but what about shows like Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Greg the Bunny, or old camp shows like Brisco County Jr? They can be a nightmare to track down, if they are even available at all. But they are definitely worth archiving and making available to the public.
I ran into this with the Roger Corman classic Frankenstein Unbound and John Woo's A Better Tomorrow franchise they are like impossible to find and I miss them so so much
I really like the Mondo steelbook of Batman V Superman because not only does the packaging look amazing, it also contains both cuts on 1080p blu ray as well as the 4K version of the ultimate cut with the IMAX scenes.
Digital ownership is having a DRM-free version downloaded to your local drive (and backed up). The digital "ownership" you talk about in the video is just temporary access until one of the many tenuous links in the chain backs out, then you don't have access.
Cocoon is in the same state of flux as all of the 20th Century Fox library. Disney has zero interest in doing anything with these films, aside from streaming. Fox was working on some amazing and pretty random 4k restorations before the Disney acquisition. It all ended abruptly after Disney was in charge. There are so many films waiting for a release, but they are stuck in a vault, many at the Library of Congress National Audio Visual campus in Culpeper, VA.
I love the movie who’s that girl staring madonna but I’m fighting with myself about getting it on blue ray is Blu-ray really so much better and are they really going to fade out dvd the way they fade out VHS?
Thank you for pointing out the importance of physical media. Teach your children. Censorship, like never before, is upon us. Godspeed.
Fuck capitalism and consumerism
Cocoon is a great film and it's a shame they never released more. This is why I hold onto my old VHS tapes & DVDs.
I have a growing list of movies that I want to find on DVD or Blu-ray, yet cannot... Cocoon, The Thing (1982), Big Man Japan...and many more

They are cutting “problematic” scenes from television shows and movies. They are changing the words in books.
ANALOG > DIGITAL

And they wonder why piracy is so popular. It resolves all these problems.
Yarrrrr!
I still keep physical copies for when the internet service goes out, which happens more often than I would like.
i still collect and archive DVDs, VHS tapes and now (thanks to some recent updates in software on my side) Blu-Rays

I found it after searching for all of 2 minutes.
Watching this right now on my Media server. Glad I still have my physical copy.
I own most of these on laser disc. I'll pick movies up on newer disc like things if available too!
I can think of another way to get a copy of Cacoon that no one will mess with
I found a sealed copy of cocoon on dvd for 3 bucks a few weeks ago
The Wizard if Speed and Time is only available on Laser Disc and piracy.

We’re living in demolition man, matter of fact… I’d better buy that hard copy before it gets
“updated”
It's true Physical Media is Important even more Nowadays then back in the 80s and 90s 📽📼💿📀 so keep supporting your Favorites 💯
Because of capitalism
Got Cocoon on bluray. 😄
Looks like you can still get this movie on dvd and blu ray

Forget about trying to find a 'legitimate' copy. Thar be endless booty for yee who live the life of a pirate. Arrr.
Great video but i dont think this should be here.
Anyways….
Capitalism is the problem and we need degrowth and ecosocialism
