If you haven't seen it before, you've gotta see Stevie Ray Vaughan perform Texas Flood live at El Mocambo. The man was one of, if not the greatest guitarist to ever play the blues.
Let's view "Sound Check" which is better than most other's Show.. If U review "Look At Little Sister" U will get to see Keyboardist Mr. Reese Wynans show off.. SRV is the absolutely the best Blues Guitarist.. R.I.P. SRV (El DeBarge says he likes it) ♠W.G.
That show comes out of the gate like TIGER walking Augusta #18 Sunday 2019! He rips off TESTIFY to start things off then works his ass off thru TEXAS FLOOD, RIVERIA PARADISE, LENNY, COLD SHOT etc.
@@sixstringsdown1 I heard, before that show, he was passed out, locked in his dressing room. They beat on the door.... nothing . He woke up, just as the show was to start, went out and the rest is History.
While he was playing with his teeth, he actually lost a tooth doing it. You can see him looking on the stage for it. Then you see him turn his head to tell his people, "Lost my tooth!" You can actually see him mouthing the words. And yet it never stopped his performance. The man was just the ultimate guitar God!!
That guitar switch was smooth. He just looked over and gave the nod. He didn't miss a beat. Stevie Ray is the greatest. I saw him 2 times in Baltimore and he was phenomenal. Thanks for sharing.
Allow me to express my condolences, for discovering the single greatest guitar performance in the history of mankind. You will never again find a performance that will equal "Life Without You" by SRV
@DayOne Reacts - You think your mind is blown after this performance.. I highly recommend: Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (from Live at the El Mocambo). Thank you for the reaction t'was fun!! ; )
Wake up in the morning, have some coffee and play my guitar,” not far from off base. I saw double trouble live in 88, or 89. I was stoked because it was Friday night, I knew I was getting a meet and greet with my heroes of the blues, and let me tell you, Stevie fed off of the energy from his audience. I was dancing to (probably Look At Little Sister, but I don’t remember) and he made that song last for at least 15 minutes. As long as he played, I danced and NEVER got tired. He could go on forever and often played 8-12 hours at a time. He’s my hero and I miss him every day.
I love watching your cute, kind and charming reactions and I keep coming back to this video over and over again to see you. I think it's a very calm and wonderful reaction. Stevie is a truly great artist and his loss is immeasurable. I've lived for over 60 years and I don't know an artist who has touched me as much as he did.I think he's smiling at you in heaven.Thank you for the wonderful response.
Hell yeah SRV is the man! I'm a guitarist of 37 years playing, & folks say I'm damn good but Stevie is the absolute best Guitarist ever! My dad played music with him before he was famous along with other greats,Steve Wariner, Ricky Skaggs,Jerry Reed,& Keith Whitley! I had the honor of picking some jam fests with them also & it's a true experience I'll never forget! This was back when music was real & really meant something. Ps. I appreciate you for posting this. Thanks it brought back memories for me! 🙂
It's good to see someone from your generation who can appreciate a true music legend and legacy that he left for us to enjoy and something that you won't find in today's music
one of the best freaking performances ever... and thats despite ALL the things that went wrong! Swiching guitars, readjusting amps, loosing a dang tooth. SRV was simply amazing, so so sad we didn't get more time to listen to him mature with age...
He used to close his shows with this song. I saw him live and there was a hush at the end before everyone was on their feet going crazy as the house lights came up. He is the best guitar player ever and yes I love Hendrix, Clapton, and Les Paul.
What else can you say, but the Greatest of the Greats! The man didn’t play the guitar, it flowed through him. It was part of him...there will never be another! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Absolutely one of the BEST Guitarists ever his HANDS are HUGE re watch the video and look at his fingers and how long they are . I played guitar from age9 until now ( age 70 ) and there is no anyone can ever duplicate what SRV did . His talent is unsurpassed. By the way I Love your Channel
I know Django Rhinehart played with only a partial hand, but most great guitar players have long fingers. 69 and I have played on and off since I was 13. I was blessed with thick and a bit shorter than average fingers?????
I grew up listening to Stevie and many other greats. To me...Stevie had such a unique style of playing and his transitions were just solid. His fingers just knew where to be and when.
I've been playing guitar for about 40 years now and SRV was a huge influence for me early on. I was even lucky enough to see him in concert for his "In Step" tour in the late 80s. I even got to shake his hand backstage as well. I was only 17 and absolutely awestruck at the time. LOL It's great how SRV loves to put on a show and entertain the crowd. Playing an amazing solo isn't enough, he'll do it behind his back! A little secret for those who don't play an instrument. Playing guitar behind your back isn't that difficult. After you have been playing for a number of years it becomes 2nd nature for you. You can easily play without having to look at your hands, even if you are moving up/down the guitar neck. You can just feel the positions your hands are in. The part that freaks me out is that SRV changes the guitar behind his back in the middle of his solo. In a half to a full measure of the song (1-2 seconds) he unstraps the guitar, swings it behind him and then without seeing what he's doing he's able to put the strap back on and then start playing. WTF? What if he can't find where to hook the strap back up? What if the strap is only partially on and the guitar falls off in the middle of his solo? In the video for his "Texas Flood" song SRV also spins in a circle while moving the guitar behind his back and then is able to continue his solo without any noticeable interruption. So much guts to try that on stage while playing a solo.
I was fortunate to be able to see him live during his heyday in the mid 80s. Very dynamic performer and incredible guitarist. The world was blessed to have witnessed his talent for the short time he was here. Another genius who was gone too soon.
I absolutely love the way you react to the music. And dont stop it. Your reaction is the KEY..... and your expresion says it all. I am a fan. And i have subscribed. Thank you. And you have a GREAT SMILE. THANKS
I know it's just incredible, so very amazing, simply fantastic, somehow unearthly, but it was just another night for Stevie Ray Vaughn. And, that fact is what just slays me every time I hear his unmatched ability. His average day was so far above most players ability and a night like this one is unreachable.
Thanks for sharing Stevie love. He wrote this song for his friend Charlie, who gave him that beautiful white guitar. Did you noticed he started the song with another guitar, and switched out without missing a beat? Another Stevie talent. Charlie owned a guitar shop, and was very kind and generous toward Stevie. He died suddenly, and this song captures Stevie’s feelings. The music/guitar just screams with his pain and loss. The lyric, “The Angels have waited, for so long, now they have their way. Take your place…” Stunning. Please do more Stevie. He es as kind and humble as he was talented. Try “Tin Pan Alley” with Stevie Ray and Johnny Copeland. He gives his raspiest Blues voice and killer guitar. ❤️Donna G
He wrote this song in honor of his good friend and guitar guy Charlie who passed away from a heart attack. And if you noticed he mouthed something it was lost tooth and gone
I'm sorry to say I was never much into Stevie Ray Vaughn's music when he was alive, that being said I can never see him play often enough. Such a talent with a guitar! A true pleasure to watch as you now know...
Its good you picked a song that is not commonly done by reactioners. SRV was indeed a rare shooting star that we were blessed with too briefly. But man those 4 albums sure are great. Thanks SRV RIP.
Stevie Ray Life Without You Is Extremely Sad, Oct 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990 ( 35 years old ). We love you miss you and you ever be forgotten!! I hope you found peace ✌️🕊️ and happiness that you couldn't find on Earth.😢😭
One of the great pleasures in life is seeing new people, young people, find the GOAT. For those of us who lived through it as it happened, and loved and lost Stevie, seeing a new audience discover him and appreciate his music and passion, and soul, is always reassuring, that Stevie WAS a messenger, and on a path, which some of us were lucky to share during his short stay with us, that still resonates to this day. People see him and KNOW and FEEL his fire and passion, and instinctively respond. In an age where fake is normal, no one is going to ever accuse Stevie of that. He will always be my gateway to the blues, something that sent me down a rabbit hole int he late 80's and from which im yet to emerge. He always quoted his sources (made sure his heroes were known, and in some cases got paid for the first time in decades), respected and loved them, made sure we all knew he was ONLY who he was because of them, and humbled himself before them, and well that only made us love him more. That he had to conquer open racism in his own family, along with his brother Jimmie, to champion the music they loved and the greatest American art form when it was (arguably) on its last breaths, speaks another volume about the man. Stevie is elemental. He means more to me now at 50 than he did when i was 17....he remains missed, and loved
Had the honor and joy of seeing SRV 9 Times, The first time by accident before his first album was released, I guess touring for it. The guy was the best at what he did for sure! Only once did I see him where he wasn't totally on, and he couldn't remember any of his lyrics, but didn't miss a note on the guitar. that week he had put himself in rehab and had gotten clean a sober. I then saw him on his first show after rehab and it was out of this world amazing!!
I guess you can hold back SRV for only a short while before he HAS TO break out and show his chops, shred his axe, strut his stuff, amaze us once again. Nice to hear a more mellow tune from this genius, this prodigy. His narrative message should be listened to by everybody on the planet; another emissary for love and peace around the world; music can be an intense catalyst for this goal. He's crying through his guitar for the love he's having to live life without.
I'm glad you liked this performance he's truly one of the greatest. I know there are more popular videos of SRV but for me this is at the top of the list. Ohh and your reaction was priceless!!
Th one line that always stuck with me since the first time I saw this performance is when he says “don’t ever push anybody down because we’re up” man that is sooo true it’s so common to start doing well and try push others down instead of trying to win together takes me back to a saying that I heard a long time ago when I was a kid and it’s “it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice” ❤️💯 love Stevie
If you see all that happened during this performance you should realise how talented this man really was. First he switches out guitars as the first won't stay in tune. He then spends the first solo tuning the new one into his amps. He then plays over half the song behind his back and even knocks out a tooth when playing with his teeth! If you were only listening then you wouldn't know that any of this happened! He was just the best! No question!
This is my favorite of all SRV performances. The only SRV where I'd say to do an official video would be his cover of "Superstition". Watch the Stevie Wonder original first, but Wonder makes a cameo in SRV's cover, which is pretty cool.
I have seen this performance over and over as I have with all his videos. I had tears in my eyes this time. He had so much more to give. Taken way too soon.
Stevie was a freaking wizard!!! Spectacular doesn't even begin to define him. There's a reason every great blues artist of the day wanted to collaborate with him. SO missed.
I have been blessed enough to watch SRV perform live.. I have been fortunate enough to see Jimi Hendrix perform live… I have been fortunate…
The be all, and end all! The GOAT of GOATS! Hands down no argument needed! 😎
Stevia Ray, what can you say,the greatest guitarist ever played,I cried watching this video,
So, stevia is a plant, used an alternative sweetener to sugar. His name is Stevie.
I'm glad I never really knew much about SRV before he died because his death would have killed me. What a person he was..
I didn't find out about him until after he died ...
My man changed guitars and no one hardly noticed, there will never be another… fly high brother

No one will ever be a conduit to the blues like him. It just flowed through him like an open gate to greatness!!!!
Was a sad sad day the day we lost SRV but his music and legacy will live on forever... great choice dear thank you!

Holy cow and amen buddy us was the G.O.A.T.
what a lot of people also miss is the smooth guitar switch at the beginning of the performance. he didn't miss a beat.
The GOAT for Sooo many reasons!

I also recommend Stevie doing Tightrope in Austin Tx.
And Mary had a little lamb Austin Tx.
At his absolute peak!
Did you notice how he switched guitars in the first minute or so... compare guitar at start to one he is playing a few minutes later.

I just bumped into you..
I'm very impressed you love this live performance.. As far as guitar rock , this is the Best Ever
I watched your reaction again….truly the most respectful reaction I’ve ever seen….
