Awesome plane 👍, . Yes I liked post flight review, gives us a chance to look at the plane in detail. Congratulations on a successful maiden. Great video Vas . ( the weather gods not kind today ) .
I'm glad HK re-released the Yak. The original was always in short supply and many people missed it. I still prefer my Red Racer scheme, but this one flies pretty much the same.
I assembled mine yesterday. I can honesty say i see why its so cheap. Got mine for £260. Eflite or FMS it would've been about £460. Connecting rod for tail wheel too short and it digs into the foam when the wheel turns, the rudder servo horn digs into the foam on turning too. The wheel covers arent flush with the wing and rub against the wheels, the nose cone needed cutting to make it fit. Apart from that its a gorgeous looking, great size and cant wait to fly it. Id rather have paid £100 more and had QC be better, plastic protection on wings, canopy opening, tail etc.
I agree with your points, but the downside is that it's actually not that cheap here. These are about $650aud, and I'm not saying that it's overpriced, but it would be much better if it were at least $100 cheaper. Now, I know if it was E-flite it would be about a grand, but the issue with E-flite is that they're actually not that much better when it comes to quality. The V1200 for example, is heavily overpriced at about $900-950 and has a canopy that's almost impossible to open, retracts are known to fail and the wheel covers also don't sit flush and actually impede the retracts from fully closing. Then there's all the stickers under the wing that keep peeling off the more you fly it. FMS has raised their prices ever since COVID hit and they're priced just under E-flite or about the same depending on the plane. That leaves Freewing offering some of the best bang for buck we have. Xfly aren't too cheap, but they have some well priced planes and their quality is on point. And then we have Dynam bringing up the rear with probably the cheapest planes on the market. HobbyKing have a bit of a mixed bag of products where some are actually quite cheap and offer really good bang for buck, but there are a few that are probably more inline with Freewing and FMS. The good news is they have regular sales to keep people invested in their products and if you can snatch up a deal, then it's really hard to beat HK on price. Admittedly their quality does have some inconsistencies, but I've had dozens of their planes over the last 11 or so years and I honestly have no complaints about their QC. I've had a couple of planes that flew like trash, but that's a whole other matter. LoL. Thankfully those planes were discontinued long ago. Thanks heaps for your comment and I hope you stick around for the review (whenever I get a chance to fly it some more) as I'm sure a lot of our notes on this plane will be similar. 😎
Paintwork is actually quite good on this one, no complaints regarding that. Electronics are also solid and haven't given me any grief, however, I did blow the motor trying to run 8S. Not the plane's fault as the motor is not rated for 8S, so I totally own that one. I did get one good flight out of it which was pretty awesome, but on the second flight it released the magic smoke and was done. 😁 I've since replaced the stock motor with a Surpass Hobby 550kv one and it's pretty much equivalent performance.

Thank you. This might have to be my first HK product purchase.
You should try the 8s you will Be amazed the sounds , that 6s sounds is nothing just saying - when you do land just tiny elevator and power for smooth landing -

Thanks Alan. I'll do more like this as I work towards getting final reviews done. 😎👍

Still on back order here in the UK......thanks for the video...cannot wait until mine arrives...
You're gonna love it, it's an awesome plane. 👌 Hope it's not long until there's stock there.

sounds like you might have installed the tail wheel backwards.
@PapePardini it's definitely the correct way. It's the arm that links the wheel to the servo. That's what digs into the foam when it turns.
I’ve always avoided HK products but really like the Yak. How is the quality of the paint finish and the electronics?

Yeah, I'm planning to go 8S with it soon. 😉
