Catching Low-Water Coastal STEELHEAD w/ Robert Kratzer! "FHN on-the Water"

The talented and experienced Robert Kratzer guides FHN Host Duane Inglin into some Coastal Winter Steelhead in relatively low water. Taking the driftboat out on a coastal stream in early steelhead season is a great way to cover water especially while float-fishing and bobber-dogging for those early hatchery fish. Watch as Duane's bobber drops and he fights a hot chromer on light gear!
With Robert as net-man the duo had some success getting into these sea-run trout on the Washington Coast! "Get Your Net AWAY From My Fish!" There are some cool shots of the driftboat navigating rapids and banter between Duane and Robert - an overall positive fishing trip.

Question. Do you put a split shot or two between the inline weight and the bead when the flow is heavy? I feel like the bead is not sinking down to the strike zone without the split shot. Or do you use glass or hard bead when you fish fast and boiling water condition??

Typically no, But that is not to say you can't if are in some good flow snd feel like you are not getting down. Good question..

Love the show and always look forward for new episodes. I liked how you switched things up this week and showed some footage of you catching fish. I'm trying to figure out what Robert was doing differently with how his bobber dog setup was. You look to be questioning him about it, too, but I can't make out his explanation in the video. Was he using an inline sinker as the weight unlike say a stick weight or tangle free weight?

@ Kyle Robert, I was asking him to explain the set up and we were having that discussion when the guy on the opposite shore started yelling at us and dropping F' bombs and shit. So, I had to edit that out, lol. It's Bobber Doggin and you are correct, without stick-lead. Tune in this next week and I will break down the comparison on two different methods to set up Bobber-Doggin... 😉
