    Boost or nitrous, tolerance doesnt matter and running it on oxygenated q16 or e85 and it won’t care. My 10:1 1970 500 with stock pistons had way over .140” valve clearance with .530” at the valve, checking it with no head gasket (so ~.180” p2v clearance with gasket), lunati makes the best off the shelf cams with their voodoo line for these engines

      I'm going to modify mine with the tin plate that holds 2 sets of rockers together to keep them aligned. I can put up a video tomorrow about it. Is that what you are asking how to keep rocker alignment correct?

      I got them from eBay for just a bit over $300. Sorry I didn't see your other question. I put up a quick video of rocker alignment. I'll put one up with more details in a few weeks

    582 lift is that too much Cam?

      @faforacing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your engine is stock I would say yes.bwhen it comes to cams it needs to be measured at the piston with clay. I will be doing a video on it when I get there with my 500 but it will be some time from now

      Won’t get a cam that does that much lift unless you go roller and/or ford 1.76 rockers

    That engine will last 2 minutes and blow up. Good luck 👍

      Why is that? The worst I would see happening is one of the rockers braking. Plus they are one a stock engine just to see how they fit. I was going to modify the hole setup but didn't want to reinvent the wheel.

      @faforacing I rolled the 1970s caddys for 24 years as a daily. I worked on them non-stop including rebuilding a th400 several times. I spent many many thousands and had a 500 c.i. I put in a 79 coupe. When it's stock leave it. Once you mess around with it it will die. I spent big money on a full rebuild on a 500 and it died to. Cad. Company screwed it all up. Stock is best !!
      Lots of torque but for the headache it's not worth it. No one can rebuild them right.

      @@Desertquartz79 I have to ask are you a vet? It's the pinecone that makes me ask. Can I ask what mods you did and what broke?

    • @Desertquartz79
      @Desertquartz79 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @faforacing No not a Vet. I had 2
      425s and a 500. The 500 was rebuilt 3 times. What I found is once you start hopping up these old engines they go bad. Most people never used zddp in the oil so the cam is usually going flat in areas and the bearing are usually bad too. Once you add power a rod starts knocking or something is bad. Best to take apart the engine yourself and clean and put in new bearings and just do a flex hone the cylinders and re ring it.
      After this then you can add a cam and rockers or port the heads. Hopping up a motor from the 60s or 70s is just throwing away money. I had a 500 that was 60 over so it was a 523c.i. I had the probe forged pistons 10.1 and forged rods. The 76 cc heads and a 244 duration cam. Shaft rockers and more all by the cad company built by them. It made 500hp and 600 torque on there dyno. I put it in my 1979 coupe with the tranny I built and a 8.5 posi swap from a caprice I pulled and installed from a junkyard. I also gutted the caddy the whole interior was torn out with light weight seats. Whole front end was rebuilt with heavy duty springs and aftermarket sway bars. Tons of work done everything done by me I could go on for days. I out ran almost anyone in Denver Metro. I even outran my drivers license. Lol
      I had to chill due to points but you get the idea. I've got videos of the car in action on TH-cam.
