    I'm new to converting an enclosed trailer into a Toy Hauler Travel Trailer. I just purchased my Trailer on this Friday passed. I have a long journey but my Wife and I are up to the challenge. I have been researching and watching Video and reading articles to inform myself as to the conversion. I want to say, out of all the converted trailer videos, I like yours the best. I like your floor plan; your equipment and of course, your style. Thank you for the links. Your video really helped much.

    It's obvious a lot of thought was used in planning, especially the matching rims and tires to the haul vehicle. Excellent job on the trailer and video. Muchas gracias!

    I built a 6X10 for working on the road and learned a lot. I did go with an electric water heater outta the gate and plumed the shower head on the back door so showers are taken outside. Since I went electric on the water I went with a small 120 home depot refrigerator also. Since I'm by myself a half hour a day of running the generator keeps my fridge cold all day everyday because I dont open it that often. I shoe horses in southern states during the winter months so didn't insulate due to the fact that my work takes me from 70° in the north to 70°weather in the south like clockwork. I'm making a fortune yet I still camp out on free land dispersed camping year round! I'm saving a lot of money thanks to my cargo conversion. Cook stove has 18,000 BTU burners so coffee is done in about 3 minutes. Life is good. Awesome job on your cargo conversion, thanks for sharing

    I have to say, your approach to showing this product is creative. A salesman at heart.
    Most of us who choose to convert cargo trailers to campers are not financially capable of forking out the expensive items you present. Obviously you’re not too technical and creative like the rest of us so, I’m happy for you that you can just have the unit you desire. God bless you and yours

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm probably more technical and creative then most building these just like having nice things. My first trailer I build all the bed and furniture. But my setup time is about 5 minutes in this trailer vs 20 to 30 in the other trailer. And when it's raining that makes a huge difference

    Hello Mike! Wonderful job on your conversion and congratulations ! I admire your ingenuity and perseverance. I'm more annoyed at all the negative comments about your background music than the music itself. It really didn't bother me at all. I guess I was listening to you and trying to absorb all I could. Don't pay too much attention to them. You'll never please all of them. Great job and many great days and nights in your trailer. I loved the shower!!!!

    Of all campers, cargo trailers, tiny homes, rv's etc... Your cargo conversion was the best and most chic in my opinion. Beautifully crafted. Me being single it would've been smaller (half the size) with enough room for my electric bicycles and electric motorcycle.

    GOOD JOB on all info sounds like a lot of work. I can't see my self pulling a trailer big crash??!! You left spare at home many times LOL! THANK YOU I LISTEND TO EVERY THING YOU SAID! YOU SOUND LIKE A EXPERT! I would put a black or dark grey rubber mat on floor where you park your 4 wheeler to protect floor which should be easier to keep floor clean & easy to wipe off. I thought you were parking a dirt bike under the bed. I kept seeing the word toy hauler on youtube videos?? I thought you men were toy salesman? I figured out toy hauling ment a dirt bike or 3 or 4 wheeler not small toys like Toys-R-Us?? LOL
    It's nice to see your family enjoying this nice toy hauler even though our government has gone nutty! BLESSINGS to you & your family.

However.....I called and couldn’t find a single campground in the area I’m heading to next, that will allow converted cargo trailers, vans, or tiny homes. So I may just give in and get a travel trailer. Sad, because many of these are built far better than those travel trailers.

    Keep from rear end trailer scrubbing dragging use wide pan cake rollers on back rear of trailer keeps rear trailer from tearing up. Usually anything standard heigth in a enclosed trailer over a 20' -21' total length ball coupler to rear of trailer should, to keep from dragging. Taller trailer keeps rear end of trailer dragging as much but pan cake rollers wheels are cheaper to add and install when buying or ordering a trailer.

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mini split i bought local. Shower drains prefect as the drain is about 4 inch higher then the pipe

  • @larrychappell3378
    @larrychappell3378 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the door to the mini-split, cut a hole in the door, add a vent cover, and you won't have to have the door open to use the Air Conditioner. Between it and the hole in the floor, it will give you plenty of airflow. That is about all I would change except I would add a second battery for longer battery power availability.

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rather have the door open then have a ugly mess door that water will go through everytime it rains.. I can go all day on one battery. Have to build what works best for you.

    Good looking trailer . I love the black on black! And also love the blue epoxy tops. I'm working on my 3rd cargo conversion and also scored a happijac bed along with the couch bed below. Just wondering if you had notch the happijac uprights Into the floor because of the height? My rear uprights barely fit because of the dovetail but will work and the 2 fronts will have to protrude through the floor and ill box them in to seal them up form the outside .

    How well does the water heater work. Quick recovery time? Ever run out of hot water when showering?

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works great. It holds about 5 to 6 gallons of hot water mounted the way I have it. And you run the hot about 25 percent hot water and 75 cold water so you have about 15 gallons to shower. We don't leave the water running like we do in the house though. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up again if you go through it completely

    Very nice build. I'm about to start on my 7 x 14. I really like the frameless window look from the outside but I cannot find the frameless windows that you installed. Can you please leave a link or brand so I can find those windows. Thanks.

    hey there mike. GREAT video. i found it very helpful and appreciate all of the product links to the stuff that you used. i have 2 questions. 1. how wide is your trailer and 2. how many feet is it from the end of the refrigerator to the back ramp? thanks in advance

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have about 19 and a half inchs from the refrigerator to gate and about 18 ft from the wardrobe to gate. Trailer is 8.5 wide and 7 feet tall. Getting the extra height is a must

    Do campgrounds like KOA actually let you bring this "trailer" and leave it there? Has anyone asked you what exactly it is, also did you insure this trailer, and what about code like fire exits? Thanks.

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure about any code. I have been to many different parks and none have said anything. Some fancy places in the keys don't allow it though

      I’ve got a 24’ Hallmark I converted (not nearly as nice as this one😕) and I’m originally from California. Registration on any brand RV manufactured toy hauler was between 500-700$ per year. These are registered as a cargo trailer, in Ca you get a permanent plate and every 5 years you send the state 10$. In AZ a permanent plate is 129.00 for life! Not only do you get exactly what you want and need but it’s much better built than any factory unit (I’ve owned 2 of those over the years) but you add up the savings in registration alone adds up quick. Only the parks that advertise no rig over 10 years old not allowed have I ever been restricted. This gentleman did a super job!

    Very nice video and good build. I really like the sub-floor idea and all the drain piping to go out at one point to hook up to outside tank awesome. LED lighting is nice idea. Bathroom door that is must 👍awesome. What is your experience for on-demand tankless water heater because that may be space saver for smaller trailer like I am thinking for 6x12 size.

    Torsion suspension does give a better ride, however if damage the cost to repair is very high compared to leaf spring suspension.

    I’m curious as to what inverter you used? What size was it and was it a pure sine inverter? Is the refrigerator fastened and if so how? I have a 28’ trailer I’m working on now myself

    • @BuiltByMike
      @BuiltByMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a 1500watt pure sine inverter. I 3d printed cups that are screwed down that fit the feet of the fridge to keep it from moving

    My husband and I are retired and we live on a budget. We have a place here in our town that does RTO for the haulers. We bought a much older RV a few years ago but the motor blew so it's just parked in our yard now, We are thinking of using the stuff from the RV for the Hauler. Do you think other than electrical we will need anything else to build ours? We have an 08 Electra Glide that will go where we go. So it must be functional as well as liveable for us.
    We loved your video and your camper is gorgeous. I just hope ours turns out 1/4 as great as yours!!!!
