    If I'm not mistaken, this might be my first TH-cam comment ever and I wanted to say thank you so much for these tutorials. You explain things so well and I appreciate all that you're doing here. My Wacom tablet sat in my desk for two years because I was afraid to try anything with it and I've already gone through two of your Illustrator tutorials today. Keep up the great work!

    I want to say thanks for the tutorials and the amount of work that you put into everything. I just completed the hippo and now I am working on this one. I had my tablet for over a year before deciding to actually doing something with it. I want to create my own .svg files for future use and after looking at various tutorials, I find that yours are the best. I’m still working out the kinks with my pen settings (using CS5) but for the most part, everything has been going smoothly. Thank you again and best believe when I say that I will continue to be a fan of your work and how the way you teach noobs like us how to finesse in Illustrator. 😊

    Hey Jason, I'm loving these tutorials. Been a long time Flash/Animate user but I figured it's time to learn Illustrator and you're making it so much easier than it would otherwise be. The tablet tutorials are fantastic as I'm used to using a tablet so any tools that work well with a tablet are great to get some experience with. Just from the tutorials of yours I've done so far it seems to be that for inking the blob brush doesn't give you quite as fine control over the line shapes and thicknesses (even with a pressure sensitive tablet) and possibly makes for not quite as clean lines. Just wondering if you agree with this or this is just me being rubbish with the blob brush?

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great Question Rob, if you are looking for the most control and the best results I would chose the pencil tool and then add on your variation through brushes, width profiles and the width tool. The Blob Brush will give you a little more of a hand drawn feel (any time you add pressure it won't be as perfect as the profiles/brushes) but it is a great approach for efficiency.
      Depending on what you are looking for in terms of non/destructive workflows: the pencil is still in stroke form which is much easier to edit at a later point while the blob brush is a destructive workflow.

      @@JasonSecrest Thanks very much. I'm mostly using illustrator for t-shirt designs so I like the ability to change things as I got and also have finer control over the ink work. I'll probably try and practice with the blob brush a bit more in the future but for now I think it's time to do another one of your tutorials :)

    Hey Jason, superb tutorial. I got a question for you though: Brush(paintbrush or blob brush) vs Pencil? Which one would you use/prefer?

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say who is it for and what your desired look is
      Ts/Logos - pen/ shapes
      Comics- blob brush
      Fast/pen alternative- pencil

    Hello. Did you created the stroke profile 3 in a previous tutorial? Or how can I go about having it/creating it? Thanks.

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fat at both ends: draw out a segment. Bump up the stroke to 5. Use width tool in the middle to drag in. The width profile will automatically be added. Click the button at bottom of width profile to save/add to profiles.

    Is it easier to draw at adobe illustrator than photoshop?

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So it is easier to sketch/draw in Photoshop. I use Photoshop as a sketchbook, but that could be replaced with any other drawing app. I use Illustrator for vector work and final drafts. So I wouldn't say it is easier, it just has a different purpose in the workflow. I wouldn't use Adobe Illustrator as a drawing program.
