Yeah, it was really happy with the sharpness on this. K-3 is quite a nice camera

Beautiful shots. Bought my Super 16 converted K-3 back in 2016. I get vertical scratches at high frame rates. That is because the gate extension was just milled but not 100 percent finished. Yours is great. Depends on who did the job. Will take open my camera again soon and polish the gate extension with very fine sand paper and machine grade oil.
Your image is very stable. Your K-3 is great! Mine has very slight vertical jitter. Almost nothing and super easy to fix in post.
Yes, looks like you don't have the recentering ring installed. These are easy to find on ebay.
Hope this information helps. Can't access my old youtube channel (true film), since my old email account has been deactivated. Some of the information is outdated, but you can see my test footage with mostly expired film stock which I got for free or dirt cheap.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work on film!

Thanks, much appreciated. Also, thank you for the info. I did have a look at the gate when I got my K-3 and I could see that it was pretty smooth. It doesn’t look like it’s been modded to size. I think it might actually be a new manufactured gate.
Keep on watching, I will eventually get something new out. Finding it really difficult at the moment with this pandemic, as I can’t get any actors in to do the scenes.
Hope you get out and enjoy your camera soon. Take it easy and stay safe.

Thanks. That was just testing the camera in that. My next project now is to make a short film with it.
I did get it from eBay. I think it’s seller refurbished, because they did the super16 for me. Although looking at the sellers other items they are listing pre built super 16 versions of the camera. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274502987771

New Winter Studios Even the test footage is stunning, love the 16mm format. Looking forward to seeing the short.
That’s great thanks, going to look into it!

Yeah, me too. There's a definite improvement vs the results from Super8, that was better than I expected. If you haven't already, please subscribe to my channel. I need all the support I can get :). Plus you'll get to see when the short gets published.
Good luck in the search for your camera. I'll look forward to seeing the results from you in the future :).
PS. sorry if you see a similar reply before this. It looks as though it didn't post for some reason. Maybe it did and I can't see it. I'm not sure. Stay safe.

Does your camera have the recentered lens mount for super 16 as well?

    • @newwinterstudios8910
      @newwinterstudios8910  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, thanks for the comment. It does yeah. Although, because the viewfinder isn't adjusted as well and it still shows the 4:3 aspect ratio, you have to guess where centre actually is on the film.
That's what I was trying to do with the clock face by testing it on various parts of the screen. The zoom still seems to operate on the centre of the viewfinder perspective so not 100% what is changed in the lens or mount to recentre.
Sorry if that confuses things and hope it was helpful in some way.

@@newwinterstudios8910 The recentered mount should be clearly visible once you remove the lens. You should notice that the "inner circle" is shifted to one side. If the zoom seems to operate on the center of the original perspective, perhaps it hasn't been recentered.
I asked because I was wondering about the vignette at 20mm which is only visible in one corner of the image.
Anyways, I just purchased a Krasnogorsk 3 as well, but it comes with the bayonette mount and that would be really difficult to recenter. I am still considering installing the super 16 gate though.

Yeah, maybe not then. I just had a quick look and it all looks stacked central. But, if not then as you can see from my video that at 20mm it’s not too obtrusive and centred more it would be even less.
I was meant to do a test at 17mm, which is the widest this lens will go. Think I messed up there. I will have to make sure to include it in my next video some how. I don’t want to do a test video again like the ones I’ve done previous, but I’ll point it out in the description. So keep an eye out for that dropping.
Let us know how you get on with your K-3 when you get it.
