They are literally Frank Mullen disciples, it all descends from the song Liege of Inveracity (1991)
There's a lot of John Gallagher influence, but I wouldn't call them wannabes.

That's why 0:37-0:58 is my favorite section of the song.
When the riff at 2:49 starts, I feel like drinking 20 gallons of gasoline and spitting flames out of my mouth while riding a huge black dragon through the skies annihilating everything in sight, and frying crowds of zombies with my sword that shoots lighting, shooting laser beams out of my eyeballs and vaporizing my enemies into carbon ash.

Of course it's not about the lyrics, it's about brutality, about atmosphere.
It's just one of the big things that I noticed from this song is its change in lyrical theme, compared to their previous albums....that's why it caught my eye so much. Their music is good no matter what they sing about.

Returning to this song after i was very first listening to metal at the age of 14, I have so much more appreciation for this band at my current age of 20 years old then I ever did previously. Great riffs, fast drumming, and unadulterated, uncensored brutality.

The blasts that this track builds to and finishes with are brilliant along with the typical DF technical yet catcy additicive riffage with those harmonized, Intertwining guitar and bass runs higher up with great technique invvoling a combination of hammer ons, offs and tapping.

I've always been into metal sense I was was little. This is real metal, not falling in reverse, motionless in white, and black veil brides. When I ask someone what kind of metal bands they listen to I will usually get these answers. I wanna hit them so bad. Bands like dying fetus, the faceless, Revocation, Cattle Decapitation Acrania, Ceribral Bore, adomidable Purity, putrid pile, belphegor, septicflesh, slayer, megadeth, Jungle Rot, morbid angel, Hatebreed, Obsura, Arch Enemy May I go on. That shit is real metal. My rant is over lol.

The other two listed bands blow serious ass, but MIW do actually make some interesting music with their whole darkwave + metalcore vibe.
