Yeah... normally the deathcore approach to vocals turns me away, but in the case of Periphery and Slice the Cake (and even Northlane to an extent) is just performed at such a next level that I'm just completely taken aback. Masterworks just speak for themselves.

Great reaction! Thank you for mentioning Mnemic btw. I had never heard of them before and they are 100% up my alley.

If you want to really hear how high he can get with his voice while still powering the shit out of you, check "Satellite" from the same album.

I saw them live here in my hometown Berlin a few months before that covid shit started... and they were just incredible. They opened with this song and they are able to reproduce it live perfectly. And Spencer also is so flawlessly good on stage omg.

Dude, you should really listen to more stuff of them for sure! Their whole discography is freaking amazing!
Some things, you might find interesting:
    - Spencer indeed is a fan of Mike Patton.
    - You liked the djenty parts? Though heavily influenced by Meshuggah, their guitarist Misha Mansoor kind of invented the whole subgenre with a project called Bulb. Periphery where a big influence, when they released their debut in 2010. So much for the "Jinjer approach". ;)
    - You mentioned them later, but the part with the low voice actually is the guy from Sikth!
    - They have three guitarists, but all members are crazily talented.
    - This is their sixth full studio album. Between Periphery II and III they released a concept album which is split into two own parts.
Song suggestions: The Bad Thing, Lune, Blood Eagle

If you like the spoken word part, I highly highly recommend checking out Sikth - Wait For Something Wild. These guys are a big influence to bands like Periphery and Protest the Hero

If you want heavier, go for Blood Eagle, The Bad Thing, or Ragnarok. If you want a more melodic approach, go for Garden in the bones from the same album. The part you seemed to really like at around 16:00 sets up the motif for that song. I'd also check out out something like Absolomb or Stranger things if you want to see a different side to them.

The low vocals during that speaking section is Mikee Goodman from SikTh!
and Technically its their 6th studio album.. they had a double concept album (Juggernaut: Alpha & Omega) between PII and PIII..
