My department had an '89 Pierce with the same motor. The interior looks almost the same too. I miss that rig dearly. There's nothing like those old rigs. The new rigs we have are great but there's a charm to driving one of these older rigs.
if you'd believe me, a rig just like this is still in service as our 2nd out engine. Soon to be replaced but the sound will always stay in my memories as the engine that I learned how to drive on
We had several of these fantastic trucks at my department. I drove a lot. I was the driving instructor for the department. After driving this truck ALWAYS idle the engine 5-10 minutes to cool the turbocharger. Otherwise, the turbo will not last long.
Keep making video's they are great, thanks. If you have tried have you had any luck getting manuals for your apparatus? I purchased a '92 Pierce Arrow 100' Aerial Ladder apparatus. But Pierce Arrow says it's too old, they no longer have manuals on it. Waterous has little information on the pump set-up. I know I can find info on the Detroit Diesel and the Onan. But It's the overall integrated set-up of the truck as Pierce Arrow constructed it that I am looking for info on. And, if you have any recommendations on sources for spare parts.............? Thanks again.
Pierce's website has parts catalogs for the older chassis, but you are correct in saying that there are no service manual. If you live near a Pierce dealer, you might try stopping by and see if they have anything. But otherwise no, I pretty much have to figure out everything myself.

Either way, this is an awesome teaser video to the super long video you said you'd do in March, so I'm really looking forward to that one! But for now, I'll enjoy this awesome music! Do you have any plans to do anything to the exhaust, such as straight pipe it, or are you going to leave it the way it is? Sounds amazing either way! As I often say, GO DETROIT!!

Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine and, Allison HTB-748 Transmission. Not many fire departments have this in service or in their reserve fleet.
