Anyone still watching years later, don't fret over the exact cleaning method. The case material will pick up stains no matter how hard you try, and they are impossible to fully remove. Pretty much all the methods described here will work just fine.

Ironic that I had just cleaned my Magic Keyboard with Dawn dishsoap but thought I would Google the best way to clean the keyboard (in case I was missing something) and this video came up! I do rinse the soap off with a wet cloth to get the soap residue off and then dry it and it comes out perfect. Thanks!

The one thing i hate is how dirty the folio cases get. I have the green and it never gets truely clean even with water/soap and given we pay so much for it it feels like money wasted. For $79 we should get materials easier to clean off

Suggestion : Dilute your Dawn in the water, it works better. Dawn by itself is too concentrated, it needs the water.
Alternative: Simple Green. It's a degreaser that works on everything and leaves your keyboard smelling nicer than Dawn does

Thanks for the tips! Just tried Dawn Powerwash dish spray. Sprayed it on and let it sit for 3 minutes to work away on the oil and dirt. Wiped with damp microfiber cloth and then dried with clean cloth. Great results. Did so lightly on Magic Keyboard and also did the trick

Before much grease gets built up I use microfibre and very little water and remove the stains, no alcohol, no cleanser, works pretty well. As for keyboard cleaners I haven't come across a better product than "HG keyboard cleaner". Dutch product apparently, works like magic and is very efficient!

Dawn is concentrate for sure ... does a great job of cutting grease in general. I’m wondering if the temp of the water would have an effect? I certainly would not boil it (exaggeration LOL) ... but warm water helps to cut grease better than cold tap. Curious, was the water in the bowl warm ?

Jerry Schulze ... If I imagine cleaning a spaghetti Tupperware lunch dish ... impossible with cold water. Warm water and dawn makes such a big difference on cutting grease. I’m excited doing all kinds of research (and I do like the skin idea in your other video) ... I’m migrating from iPad Pro 2nd Gen (with the home button) to 4th gen and magic keyboard. DO NOT use dish soap even if it cleans the keyboard well! Soeap will remove stains, but it will also remove the micro-matte surface texture of the keys. You might end up with shiny glossy looking keys. You will not be able to get the micro-textureed matte surface keys that Apple has puy on the keys anymore. Just use rubbing alcohol but do it a couple of times if it is not clean enough. If you clean your keyboard regulary, your keyboard should not be that stained anyways.

I gave this a thumbs down as I am still waiting for someone to write about cleaning the sticky keys on this iPad Pro Keyboard, not just the cover!
