  • [Problem Fixed!] The clicking noise was caused by lose exhaust pipe manifold bolt. See this updated video for explanation: • Motorcycle Engine Clic...
    I hear this clicking noise during ridding and engine idle, not sure if this is the normal engine noise or the valve/timing chain tensioner needs service?

    Got the same on my 09 z750. I replaced the cam chain tensioner and the washer s from the muffler and replaced the bolts... The ticking becomes quiter but it's still there. I wonder if it's just my stupidness to think this sound is unnormal. Maybe the ticking was always there but now after 3 years of riding I start to think that this ticking sound is new... I don't know. I just have panic that my motor is fucked up🙁

      Easy to check, just wait till engine is cold and try to tighten the bolts to see if any of them is loose.

    OMG that's the same clicking/ticking noise i'am getting from my cb400sf. Went to several shops to ask if its the valves or timing chain or tensioner but they all said the sound is normal and that i don't need to do that till after at least 80k km.

    • @TheGizmoGarage
      @TheGizmoGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      there shouldn't be any hole or oils will spill out. If exhaust bolts are properly torqued when cold then the noise might be timing chain

    My bike is a zx10r 2017yr. It sounds exactly like your video, but it wasn't a manifold exhaust pipe bolting problem. . When I turn up the RPM, the tapping sound gets louder together, and the sound is intermittently produced in the idle state. I also replaced and set the cam chain tensioner, but other noises are removed and this tapping sound is still there. I went to the repair shop and they said it wasn't a valve problem, but I was wondering if there were other causes.

    • @TheGizmoGarage
      @TheGizmoGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      when I served on my old scooter, the valve when incorrectly adjusted or out of tune might hit the top of the engine cover causing the tapping sound, but I have not experienced this problem on the Z1000, you may want to just take it to Kawasaki authorized dealer to have tech check it out, maybe the tapping sound is normal part of engine operation.

    Just check your valve clearance. That’s not a cam chain noise , it’s the valve shims. Looks like something is getting tight on your left side

    • @TheGizmoGarage

      recheck the torque on those bolts when engine is cold? Usually newly replaced gaskets will require a torque check after riding your bike for couple times

    • @TheGizmoGarage
      @TheGizmoGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harley themselves wants to reinvent their brand so bad since their sales has been slipping day by day when younger generation of riders started to enter the bike scene... by offering a very compelling E-bike... However that has failed horrendously since die hard Harley fans of last generation just would not budge... We'll see where that will lead Harley into over the next decade.
