      Hi Cynthia! Yes, lots of favorite finds this trip! But Drew's bird is amazing! Much thicker glass than the typical, made in Germany, glass bird ornaments of years past. But those bulbs are sooo fragile! I don't know how they survived. I love the teal one, with the point, like an Edison light bulb! Thanks for sharing in our fun!

    Amazing that the glass bird ornament survived under the rubble. You were meant to find it! It reminds me of one of those plastic parakeets they used to sell to put on a perch to keep your parakeet from getting lonely.

    So much fun! Lots of good pickin's and a beautiful bird and little blue bunny for added happiness. Excited to see what treasure awaits at the swap meet.

      Lots of vids to come.. we've been busy! The swap meet went well, as did the flea markets, and more trips to the beach. We are watching the weather, and hope to get into our favorite river again soon! Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Absolutely amazing that those Christmas lights survived after all these years. That bird looks almost new. So happy you found a little bunny, Cathy!!!! Oh yeah, one of my favorite finds was that glass bottle stopper. I don't know why, I just love those things.

    The glass bird ornament has to be one of the best and most unusual mudlarking finds I’ve seen.

    So incredible that the glass bird and other Christmas pieces survived! And that odd glass piece that isn’t a stopper, that’s a head scratcher, to small for a cookie press I would think. Wax seal press? Who knows. And your blue bunny, lol. Nobody would appreciate that more than you. Isn’t it grand to be so happy with something you can find on the beach? I love stuff like that, too. Little treasures….

    • @massriverpickers
      @massriverpickers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi There! 👋😃 I too am amazed the fragile ornaments survived "burial at sea" with bottles, bricks, rocks, and 70+ years of high and low tides. I am still researching wax seals.. I don't know what else that could be??🤔 I thought it was a great big stopper at first, til I saw the other end. And the tiny blue bunny is something only I would value so much! It is sooo tiny, what were the chances?? It was meant for me 😍. Sentimental significance is priceless! -Cathy💖

      Hi Amanda! I'm still up, and have to get up in two hours for our bottle show 🥱. Anyway, I'm not even sure the large bottle stopper IS a stopper? (The one with the fancy small end??)🤔 The bird is gorgeous!! It is thicker glass than most tree ornaments.. those bulbs, for instance! How did they survive? It took us a bit to connect the tree with the bulbs and bird. Perhaps these decorations were overlooked when the tree was taken down.. If so, I'll bet that little bird was missed, once its absence was noticed. And of course I love that blue bunny! 😃 Our wild bunnies have had a difficult year.. ☹️. Too many predators. I wish I could take them in at night, but they're not THAT tame. They are my favorite animals💖🐇🐇. We still have two left, so we hope they will make more!
      We did go to the flea market, twice!! So those videos will be up soon. Also setting clips aside of our summer wildlife, for a video. Still hope to get in the river soon.. I haven't given up hope! Well, wish us luck at the tailgate show today.. we need to sell, sell, sell!! 🙄💖 Hope you are well.
      Our weather is finally improving (now that summer is almost over). Drew is taking most of next week off. I'm glad he waited for better weather! We must be thankful for any day in the sun this year! 🌞💖

      ! am so looking forward to the bottle show videos, I really enjoy them. Sorry about the rabbits in your garden, nature is cruel sometimes 😞Lets hope the remaining ones keep up to their reputation. Good luck for today, Fingers crossed the sales go well 🤞😁💖x@@massriverpickers

    It's amazing that little bird survived, that bird can be a little keepsake. If you would could you take a picture of it on your Christmas tree and let all of us see it and be really nice.

      Hi There! Yes, when the time arrives, I will show not only this bird ornament, but other ornaments from the rivers and beaches.. on the tree! (And a couple of crafting vids). I am amazed these bulbs and the bird survived 70+ years of tides and trash over them! The bird is heavier glass than usual, for an ornament. Sooo glad Drew didn't hit it with the shovel!💖

    Hello Cathy and Drew. This was another awesome video to watch. Nice finds! The Deer Foot Jar is older than the ones we find in our best dump ever spot and a patent date of 1888. The ones we find are not dated and are probably made around 1900 to 1910. The Turner Dairy milk bottle appears to be a older one with more embossing than the ones Lew and I have. Your bottle might have a two digit date on the bottom of it or some where on it. We find them like that a lot. Awesome beeds and marble finds! We liked the different colors and shapes of those beads. The Dr. Miles bottle is a better bottle to find and we find those Bakers root beer bottles sometimes to. We were happy to see you find a blue bunny Cathy. Maybe it is a early Cracker Jack toy? Hope you both have a awesome vacation and we wish good luck and health to the both of you. We are looking forward to watching more of you videos. Take care and happy hunting to the both of you. ---Jeffrey Hull Jr. (Jeff & son Lew)

      Hi Jeff & Lew, Glad you enjoyed the video. Good variety of finds.. took us a while to realize we were digging an old Christmas tree! Drew's bird was the find of the day, (in my opinion). We set up at Seekonk today, and did quite well! (And we sold more than we bought 😃) I actually passed up some marbles.. I need to go through what I have already. Hope you had a great day too! -Cathy & Drew

      Hello Carol, and welcome to our channel! Glad you enjoyed this video. You will see more mudlarking, with some occasional flea market bottle hunts, dump digging, etc. We mostly like to muck around in our local rivers, whenever the water is low enough. Thanks for watching and commenting!👋😃😎👍

      Hi Debbie! Glad you are enjoying our channel! Yes, the bird was our favorite find too! It's interesting how many towns and cities here in Massachusetts are named after places in England. Of course many of our early colonists came from England (not counting Native Americans, who were already here). We also have a Worcester and Gloucester Mass, to name a couple more. Connecticut (south of us) has a "New London". Anyway, thank you for watching us, and for your kind comments! -Cathy & Drew 👋😃😎👍

    That bird ornament is the best!! Wonder what the circumstances were for someone to throw out Xmas tree with ornaments???

    • @massriverpickers
      @massriverpickers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sarah, I agree! That bird ornament is one one the finds of the year (in my opinion). We leave our Christmas tree up a looong time (until the branches curl, and the needles fall off) and we have almost accidentally missed some ornaments before tossing the tree. I wonder if that is what happened? 🤔 I sure do think that bird would have been missed, once it's absence was noticed! We will put it on our tree this Christmas, for sure! 🎄🕊️ Thanks for watching and commenting! -Cathy👋😃😎 (& Drew)

    You never saw a carnival glass Canada Dry?

    • @massriverpickers
      @massriverpickers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I haven't. We actually know more about 1800's bottles than we do about bottles after 1930. And most bottles with that carnival glass, that we find in the river, have lost their iridescent coating. (Golden Wedding Whiskey for example).
      We don't collect Canada Dry, although they did buy out Chelmsford Ginger Ale, which I DO collect! -Cathy😊💖

    Those clear door handles are selling for 50 to 100 bucks. Crystal or glass door handles

    • @massriverpickers
      @massriverpickers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that a door handle? It is smaller than a door knob. We thought maybe a drawer pull, but the small end is fancy, and has no hole or screw on it 🤔😎 💖
