I thought the dances were sorta weird in this concert as well, I dunno why they changed the moves for world is mine from the japanese version :\
Yeah!! Her dance was... Ugh she looked a little crazy when she was singing 2D dream fever.... I have a friend that went to the concert in Edmonton (she doesn't know what vocaloid is) and she told me that she loved everything, except the opening, because there was a "weird blue-haired girl singing in japanese" and she didn't know what she was saying.... Y'know when I first found out about this, I actually gained a new found respect for Lady Gaga. I mean before, I wasn't a big fan of her because I kept thinking that like every other modern day band and singer and "Beiber" these days, she'd just be singing and performing and such to give a bad influence to the younger audience. (I'm one of those people who just hates today's music cause of how ridiculously shitty it is in my mind...mainly due to the lyrics of the songs) But now I've come to realize, some of her songs are somewhat creative, and she has an open mind for certain brands of music and costumes (as freaky as they may be to the general public.) and the fact that she actually brought in Hatsune Miku (a character who was not as well known in the U.S prior to this and other future events) to be the opening to one of her concerts truly was something amazing and I don't think any other celebrity singer has actually done this before. I may not like her songs that much. But I like Lady Gaga a little more for this. Cause this right here sparked a bit of interest in Miku from the U.S audience and was probably one of the things that triggered Miku's appearance on the Letterman show later as well as the Miku Expos that happened on October this year.
Well, I heard this all happened because GaGa found the video 'Kids react to Lady GaGa'. Apparently, she loved the react show. Eventually, she found the video 'Kids react to Hatsune Miku'. And Miku managed to peak her interest. I even heard that GaGa likes Miku! :) I have a new found respect for her now.
That would have been awesome. Anyway, I came here because of the video 'Love is War GaGapoid version' (totally recommend seeing it btw. GaGa makes for an awesome Utauloid.). How about you?
I just came here to see what songs Miku sang in the opening of this concert. Love how most of them are what I recognized. (I'll be sure to check that out ASAP)
Personally I think people are being harsh on the crowd. I love Miku and the other Vocaloids, but seriously, the majority of the crowd were there to see Lady Gaga because it's Lady Gaga's concert. I also think that those who have commented things like "I would have left after Miku was finished" are being a little disrespectful. 1) because I believe you should at least appreciate Lady Gaga for putting Miku at the beginning of her concert and showing her fans Miku. 2) What if all the tickets sold out to the concert, and people who really wanted to see Lady Gaga couldn't get the chance because you wanted to watch Miku but not watch Lady Gaga to.
I would have stayed since i like both I never expected that lady gaga knew about hatsune miku, or even putting her on her concerts i literally got excited that at least one singer knows about the vocaloids, more when it was lady gaga
+Slater-Anaitor Wasn't Baby Metal in the same line-up as well. It sounds like a killer show tbh and I would have been happy to stay(And I'm not even a huge fan of all the artists) Just sucks being poor :/
Some of you are being too harsh on the crowd. You can see many of them clapping & jumping at points & then towards the end cheering. There were scattered groups & people doing the same in the seats too. Her reception in St. Paul wasn't so bad compare to what I've heard at other shows. As for the rest that are seemingly just standing there well they were probably hypnotized/mesmerized by the whole spectacle before them. Btw, really liking Story Rider song & that (kinda sexy) dance. Miku
Sakitsunebi Ok as im watching more, the applause was also loud at the end of "Yellow" and you could see parts of the crowd jumping around! (either that or they were just on extacy) anyways, continuing to watch...
Sakitsunebi i just remember all of us were cheering because we thought it was over and we were being respectful...sorry. It wasnt awful but it was just wayyyy too loud when we were there, and it just felt way to long and nobody knew what this was or what was even happening so we were all asking each other about it and googling it on our phones. I was actually kind of into it at first but it just went on for so long and people were getting anxious and just wanted to see what they came there for (lady gaga) and they had to get real people out there because it was such a boring thing to watch a computer projection holgram thing when we came to see a livepreformance. like idk what people like to see in concert in japan and this was certainly an eye opener but we all came to see a real person on stage that interacts with you and sings live. but whatever i mean if it makes you happy thats cool too tho. gaga should have been on stage with this and included it later on into the setlist and danced onstage to show people what to do haha
But poor miku baby, everyone there must be like wtf is this, but so many people would die to see her live when these people have no idea wat they are seeing
Obviously, they didn't go to see a Japanese pop vocaloid, they had no idea about who she was lmao, is like if i get angry with you for don't know another random singer from a random genere of music
Another point is, this is a concert for LADY GAGA. It's the sole reason they went there. Miku is an extra here, her appearance may have startled people who don't know about her, but she still has some songs that may slightly accommodate this audiences' taste.
I think this is a good way to get Miku even more popular here in the U.S. especially since it's lady gaga her fans can definitely go with this since well they're lady gaga fans their used to wired stuff like this.
While Miku is very well known in the anime community and partially in the art community, she is a bit of a foreign idea to many Americans. It makes sense that most the crowd was simply watching her, trying to process what they were seeing.
I’m sure a lot of people in the crowd didn’t know miku or anything about her, but it’s very heartwarming to hear the eruption of cheers afterwards and that everyone enjoyed it as much as I did just watching it on TH-cam:)
This is one of the problem I foresee. Vocaloid is made by the Japanese and while I wouldn't be able to comment on individual opinions, in general, Japanese and American tastes differ in nature. As some may had noticed, some of the dance moves from songs like World is Mine and Yellow is changed, which I think is an attempt to "americanized" Miku for the Americans. I also personally think Miku's original dance moves from aforementioned songs look better, and "cute".. but to an American, the "cute" may be more of an uniquely acquired taste. And, yes, if I were there, I would had an orgasm on the get-go.
oatmealturtlez Woah. Well look at that. You learn something new everyday. But you have to agree with Kai, I found the version of World is Mine, both the dance and the music, awkward for me because of my Japanese taste. The original dance and song I found better. But would this kind of explain why there wasn't a lot of people shocked and like jamming to the music? I think so because I think I saw a couple of people who looked like they were rocking out a couple of times.
oatmealturtlez In which case, it's been international from the start, given the first announcement of the project was at a German fair (March 2003), and the very first V1 Vocaloids were Zero-G's Leon and Lola (January 2004), followed by Miriam (July 2004) and eventually Crypton's Meiko and Kaito. Vocaloid 2 came along in 2007 (Miku arriving in August) and a total of 17 Japanese packages and 5 English packages were produced. As of Vocaloid 3, there are Japanese, Korean, English and Spanish voicebanks with Chinese and French under development.
But despite these things, Miku Hatsune, specifically, was developed for the Japanese and her success was due much to the Otaku subculture - something that mainly exists in Japan. As you can imagine, Miku's largest Western fanbase are people who would also consider themselves 'otakus'. High pitched voices in general are much less popular in the West than they are in Japan. n_n So these would doubtless be hurdles.
I remember when I went to go see Gaga some people just went for the hologram. Same with crayon pop and the baby metal ones too. Some didn’t care if they wasted money like a lot just to see them for a few minutes. Oh well I was there during the whole shows so it was lit! ♥️♥️♥️
Honestly i understand why the crowd was standing still. Me being an American i was not to sure who Hatsune Miku was until Gaga had her open the show. This is my 3rd time watching this video and i have to say her music is really growing on me. I actually wish i was at the artRave to see Hatsune and Gaga. Hopefully her english can improve a bit so we can get a better understanding of what she is saying. Overall Hatsune is reaaallly good!!
Miku’s popularity skyrocketed within the first day of her being released; however, Miku’s popularity in the states hadn’t reached its peak yet. These people are fresh to the future that is Vocaloid; some people are even seen leaving. It’s not for everyone.
For those who feel bad for Miku's reception. Don't. Miku will be at the Olympic 2020 Games Opening with KODO. Also she has been in Kabuki, Orchestra, Ballet, Anime Voice Acting, World Wide Concerts, Art Exhibitions, and has recived an award from Japan. There are more but it is to much to list. Also Lady Gaga still loves Hatsune Miku to this day. (and Beyonetta)
Miku out there collabbing She’s gonna get far Edit: yo when Miku sang English I had to shift gears in my head because I’m so used to hearing her Japanese songs Edit 2: they should’ve used her signature dances instead of her jumping around
21:00 =HOLY F***!!! THAT'S TELL YOUR WORLD!!! It's the perfect ending song... If you hear Jubyphonic's translation to the song, you'll understand why. The whole meaning to the song is that "I'll sing until my voice reaches you" "I'll sing upon the world, I wanna Reach you I'll sing until the day I finally meet you... Until our sound connects, music yours and mine..." Lady Gaga, I bow to you🙇🙇🙇You even packed your message to this idol... To connect music to the world...
Can't blame the audience for being too quiet, many of them don't know the existence of Miku, so their behavior is understandable. Only wish I was there for Miku. D:
Wow.... When this happened, I still had yet to see her live for the first time and I remember being a little less than thrilled about her opening for Lady Gaga because I felt there was just no way her fans would understand and/or appreciate something as "out there" as Hatsune Miku. And every single clip I saw from the tour pretty much confirmed that. :( Thank-goodness for a successful tour later in the same year ( we saw both her shows in NYC and were blown away! ) and even more North American shows in 2016 and 2018. :) And now we wait for her next visit. :)
seeing a virtual reality character irl is more of a feat than they're giving credit for. I know we're all desensitized by screens and graphics nowadays but these projections have always been an entertaining and impressive feat to be convincing
Lady Gaga is the only artist that could get away with this - any other concert and I could see people walking out before poor miku finished - to be honest, I think they should have split it up with Gaga, and had them sing one after the other - too much Miku for too long a time, y'know?
Honestly, I think the audience is more in awe that Miku is a really cool hologram more than anything...They probably thought it was going to be a real person and then just got shocked by this 3D life-like anime character.
It just hit me. The crowd starts cheering when she's done cheering. They aren't confused or annoyed They're IMPRESSED and they're probably watching in awe at what they think is an artpiece or something.
i know these people don't understand but what they don't understand is how lucky they are! they went for lady gaga and got HATSUNE MIKU- wow how i would have killed to be there. i will never get to see miku but im happy word of her got spread to america thanks to lady gaga. i cant believe im crying over a hologram but i hold a special place in my heart for miku, i hope that maybe, just maybe, i will go to one of her concerts one day.
Dang everyone is just standing around..... IF i was there i would have started a F***ING MOSHPIT!!!! Can't wait for October 8th though, when she goes live on David Letterman show!!!!!!
Wish I could've been there. I like Gaga, but goddamn.. I LOVE Miku. I certainly would've appreciated her more than most of the audience here seems to, though I understand without knowing anything about Vocaloid, this must've been a bit surreal lol
i’ve watched this video probably atleast 100 times over the years and i genuinely appreciate the silence so i can hear it LOL but i don’t think these people realise what they’ve seen like id die to be here at this specific performance its so important to me
I remember back when this was happening NO ONE was talking about it because none of the monsters liked vocaloid. I remember being the only one in my online circles that even knew about this😭😭😭 the way there wasn't am eruption of screams when world is mine started hurts my heart😭😭😭
Yeah... Her english is... Weird idk..., and I'm so sorry nolae but I think that we don't have the same opinion respect hatsune miku..... But I have to admit that I just know a few words in japanese e.e
I've read the comments and to clear it up, this performance is not a HOLOGRAM it's her on a TRANSPARENT SCREEN. Which is the reason why they used a different model.
i love how all japan's audiances jump around with thier glowsticks at even the sight of her, and yet, bring miku to the U.S. and everyone's like *Huuuuuuuuhhhh..... duuuuurrrrrr....." i'm just saying, goes to show home much of japan's culture makes it over to north america -_-
the only song at the final part of the show? i notice many memes about that event that i thought it would be something better than the last 4 minutes on air
I love how miku lacks english and they made her speak anyways XDD omg (dont worry i know vocaloid) also are the graphic or holographic design supported by crypton? cuz it looks iffy.
AxeEcliptica It's not a matter of it being rough. It's a matter of how well the composer is able to use Vocaloid and knowing English Linguistics. If you get a Native Japanese person to speak English, there is just no way they are going to be able to do perfect pronunciation anyway but Saki Fujita (Miku's Seiyuu) did a pretty good job.Considerably better than most could do.
When she asks (in English mind you) the people to clap their hands, only some did, I feel so bad. All of the adults, teens, and children who aren't into anime and vocaloid be like, "when is this going to be over. I can here to see Lady Gaga, not some animated chick dancing." And then there's me, wishing I could be there solely for Hatsune Miku.

I think they may have gotten bored since the songs might not have seemed very exciting for people who had no idea what vocaloid is, maybe gaga should have picked some of miku's more fast-paced songs like secret police and stuff.
It is sad :(
Could you imagine if they pick two haces lovers or no shoushitsu? Too robotic... I guess
and then Miku takes over gaga's show lol
22:19 The boy on the left is me when I go to a vocaloids show (sorry for the bad english)

Miku Expo LA was freaking amazing!!!
This surprised me too since this was the Gaga's "artRAVE" tour with the whole rave theme.
You guys I went and they didn't sell glow sticks they sold lights and lasers
Maybe because they were expecting a lady Gaga concert not a anime concert
thank you exactly Gilbert Ash
Gilbert Ash Vocaloid is not anime, but I get your point
2014… I feel so old.
Had no idea Hatsune Miku collabed with Lady Gaga. Also the holograms go wild here, I can’t imagine using a LED screen in 2024
I luv Miku thank God she's a vocaliod .that crowd would hurt anyone's feelings. Lol
Man this is so true its depressing...
People just ain't used to such awesomeness!
Aimee Rowland ur so right lol
Yes! Give this person a cookie!
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez Well that's interesting to note. It would've been a shocker to see her on that "Celebrities React" special the Fine Bros did.
It started with Gaga and now Coachella. Miku’s come so far
Hopefully, the people at Coachella this year will be a little more into it than this crowd. They look so clueless here lol.
Yeah... about that, I come from the future, I got some sad news for ya
@@bcunningham3718 I know😔
I COME FROM THE FUTURE AND I HAVE GREAT NEWS
Sorry Coachella ruined her this year with the led tv.
I would have stayed since i like both
I never expected that lady gaga knew about hatsune miku, or even putting her on her concerts i literally got excited that at least one singer knows about the vocaloids, more when it was lady gaga
Neptune Hyperdimension™ Yeah same here :)
+Slater-Anaitor Wasn't Baby Metal in the same line-up as well.
It sounds like a killer show tbh and I would have been happy to stay(And I'm not even a huge fan of all the artists)
Just sucks being poor :/
I agree with you
Some of you are being too harsh on the crowd. Miku
i HOPE that they were hypnotized....if not, they are only dumb people that don't understand the beautiful world of Miku.
nicandro90 Yeah, the crowd was cheering pretty hard as "World is Mine" ended. I was reallyyyy happy that they received it with praise
Sakitsunebi Ok as im watching more, the applause was also loud at the end of "Yellow" and you could see parts of the crowd jumping around! (either that or they were just on extacy) anyways, continuing to watch...
Sakitsunebi And after "Tell Your World" the cheering continues and crowd is just loving her. Alright Miku, I think you did a solid for us here :)
8:35 that one person on the far left in the crowd bouncing up and down would be me
Kasane-P it’s it you?:0
So I wasn't the only one who saw them
But poor miku baby, everyone there must be like wtf is this, but so many people would die to see her live when these people have no idea wat they are seeing
Yeah
The lack of screaming when world is mine started made my heart drop
miku: you guys like the show?
the crowd: •_•
I think this is a good way to get Miku even more popular here in the U.S. especially since it's lady gaga her fans can definitely go with this since well they're lady gaga fans their used to wired stuff like this.
22:15 I just noticed that person dancing at the bottom-left XD
Yep

I saw lady gaga and when this part came on I lost it. Miku and Gaga. It was awesome. ^-^
While Miku is very well known in the anime community and partially in the art community, she is a bit of a foreign idea to many Americans. It makes sense that most the crowd was simply watching her, trying to process what they were seeing.
the lack of screaming and cheering makes this a bit awkward but this is still a step in the right direction for big vocaloid concerts in america
And, yes, if I were there, I would had an orgasm on the get-go.
actually vocaloid was developed in spain and was backed by Yamaha
oatmealturtlez Woah.
Shintaro Kisaragi YAY a kagerou days fan!! :-3
oatmealturtlez In which case, it's been international from the start, given the first announcement of the project was at a German fair (March 2003), and the very first V1 Vocaloids were Zero-G's Leon and Lola (January 2004), followed by Miriam (July 2004) and eventually Crypton's Meiko and Kaito.
Ernest Lucero OMFG CRAYON POP AND BABY METAL OPENED FOR LADY GAGA?!!
JSJHEJDJWHHEHSHDHJF
When you notice that Lady Gaga Is an Otaku xD Woooo!!
Imagine all the non-Vocaloid fans expecting a real person to sing, and they hit Miku, imagine how confused they must have been lol.
They would’ve been alienated?
anyone that got to see this concert. count your days.
SO REAL like i would've killed to see miku to open for lady gaga
Imagine being famous and promoting Blackpink AND Hatsune Miku. Omg what a queen.
Yo, it feels weird when there’s no light sticks in a Miku concert (sort of) 😂😂😂
True
its crazy to see this again after all these years, miku has come so far im proud of her and everyone who helped her grow
Miku’s popularity skyrocketed within the first day of her being released; however, Miku’s popularity in the states hadn’t reached its peak yet. These people are fresh to the future that is Vocaloid; some people are even seen leaving. It’s not for everyone.
After Yellow they got into it at least! I know when she sand Tell Your World at the DC concert a lot of people clapped and I kinda teared up. ^//^;
I did the same thing XD ;/////;
i hate how everyone's just sitting there
ITS MIKU FUCKING HATSUNE YOU JUST CANT SIT THERE
DANCE!!!!
Well some people could of been supprised to see a vocaloid dancing just like a human... there just staring at how amazing it is! xD
There's actually someone who's dancing at "Tell your world" on the left side, he's even jumping
then he knew as well who she is :P
i know right there just stand there ITS FUCKING HATSUNE MIKU!!!
umm again they could be supprise to see a robot which is dancing just like a human in an amazing way! but good point xD
I’m that guy on the far left during tell your world. The rest of the audience is my fans and friends.
Miku out there collabbing
She’s gonna get far
Edit: yo when Miku sang English I had to shift gears in my head because I’m so used to hearing her Japanese songs
Edit 2: they should’ve used her signature dances instead of her jumping around
this was the moment many ppl learned more about miku
21:00 =HOLY F***!!! THAT'S TELL YOUR WORLD!!! It's the perfect ending song... If you hear Jubyphonic's translation to the song, you'll understand why. The whole meaning to the song is that "I'll sing until my voice reaches you"
"I'll sing upon the world, I wanna Reach you
I'll sing until the day I finally meet you...
Until our sound connects, music yours and mine..."
Lady Gaga, I bow to you🙇🙇🙇You even packed your message to this idol... To connect music to the world...
Can't blame the audience for being too quiet, many of them don't know the existence of Miku, so their behavior is understandable. Only wish I was there for Miku. D:
I wish I could see her outfits clearer so I can see how cool it is.
This is how it be when people let me choose the car music.
Man, the crowd was not into it at ...ALL!
Will Miku be back in the US at anytime during 2014? I really would love to see her live sometime ^w^
She's going to be at the Los Angeles Expo on October the 11th as well as the 12th
She'll be performing at MikuFes in L.A. And NY.
The crowd in Atlanta was a lot more live during Miku's opening.
Anime expo?

Gaga AND Miku? Why wasn’t I there🤧
omg these hits and y’all just standing there
Thank-goodness for a successful tour later in the same year ( we saw both her shows in NYC and were blown away! ) and even more North American shows in 2016 and 2018. :)
And now we wait for her next visit. :)
seeing a virtual reality character irl is more of a feat than they're giving credit for.
Dont worry vocaloid will take over the world soon
Duy Duyton lol so true
Duy Duyton I agree
Rak Arch hi from the future, Miku is cirtainly closer to taking over the world she’s currently working with Europe after all.
they must have been confused XD
Yep they were xD
Honestly, I think the audience is more in awe that Miku is a really cool hologram more than anything...They probably thought it was going to be a real person and then just got shocked by this 3D life-like anime character.
It just hit me. The crowd starts cheering when she's done cheering.
They aren't confused or annoyed
They're IMPRESSED and they're probably watching in awe at what they think is an artpiece or something.
I wonder how many people in the crowd actually looked into this whole “Hatsune Miku thing” after the concert and became Vocaloid fans 🤔
i know these people don't understand but what they don't understand is how lucky they are! they went for lady gaga and got HATSUNE MIKU- wow how i would have killed to be there. i will never get to see miku but im happy word of her got spread to america thanks to lady gaga. i cant believe im crying over a hologram but i hold a special place in my heart for miku, i hope that maybe, just maybe, i will go to one of her concerts one day.
BRO, It hurts seeing no one dancing, jumping around with light sticks. They just keep staring at her man. 😞
It was a lady gaga concert. They didn't expect Miku

Hay que ver el lado positivo, miku al ser un holograma no sintió verguenza xD. Solo hizo su trabajo.
Eso si es cierto. Miku siemprr tendra un lugar especial en mi corazon.

I’m kinda sad the crowd was so dead but at the same time it’s nice hearing Miku without “AHHHHHH!!!! HEY! HEY! HEY!”
I've read the comments and to clear it up, this performance is not a HOLOGRAM it's her on a TRANSPARENT SCREEN. Which is the reason why they used a different model.
its so kind of miku to invite lady gaga to her concert
ミクちゃん頑張って英語喋っててかわいいし最後消えてしまうのなんだかすごく儚くて泣いちゃった
i love how all japan's audiances jump around with thier glowsticks at even the sight of her, and yet, bring miku to the U.S. and everyone's like *Huuuuuuuuhhhh..... duuuuurrrrrr....." i'm just saying, goes to show home much of japan's culture makes it over to north america -_-
Calm down. They were probably just confuse by it. It's a piece of technology thy people were seeing for the first time.
because they were there to see lady gaga not hatsune miku. There is a very very large fan base here so sh.
The crowd at Los Angles Anime Expo 2011 was really into the Miku concert though
Hatsune miku is still better for me and im not japanese its just ten times better than other artist in the world and sadly she doesnt even exist
To be honest, I think this is just the beginning. Wait until America IS used to Miku. Then let's see how things turn out.
So how many of you are here because of Letterman?
I'm here cuz Miku is my idol. Oh and yeah I'm here cuz of Letterman
*Raises hand*
.............not me
who zafack is letterman?
the only song at the final part of the show?
i notice many memes about that event that i thought it would be something better than the last 4 minutes on air
I think almost everyone was more excited when it all finished but imagine playing this at a 2020 concert
If this were to happen today the crowd would go nuts! Since Miku has become well known through out the world
Literally the best thing ever was uploaded on my birthday. I feel honoured right now, even if it didn't take place on that day. cx
I love how miku lacks english and they made her speak anyways XDD omg (dont worry i know vocaloid) also are the graphic or holographic design supported by crypton? cuz it looks iffy.
I was wondering the same thing. The screen looks really small for a concert opening like this.
She can speak English as of Vocaloid3
Sitchrea Potere She can but it's still VEEERRRRY rough
AxeEcliptica It's not a matter of it being rough. It's a matter of how well the composer is able to use Vocaloid and knowing English Linguistics.
If you get a Native Japanese person to speak English, there is just no way they are going to be able to do perfect pronunciation anyway but Saki Fujita (Miku's Seiyuu) did a pretty good job.Considerably better than most could do.
Kaito and gumis English is more understandable than mikus
When she asks (in English mind you) the people to clap their hands, only some did, I feel so bad. All of the adults, teens, and children who aren't into anime and vocaloid be like, "when is this going to be over. I can here to see Lady Gaga, not some animated chick dancing." And then there's me, wishing I could be there solely for Hatsune Miku.
I began tearing up , just the thought of Lady Gaga and Miku
Lady Gaga fue muy tierna al hacer reconocer más a Miku, y se ve que ella es una de sus grandes fans, ya que Lady Gaga habló de lo fabulosa que es Hatsune Miku durante uno de sus conciertos :3
THIS VERSION OF GLASS WALL IS SO GOOD??
