He probably would've learned how to fly in just days at most and goten himself learned how to fly easily the instrions or literally in the episode izuku was watching. Plus izuku is supposedly his reincarnation so it should be somewhat instinctive so i find it dumb that it took him 2 years to learn how to fly at most a few months because he is so young but 2 years is to much.

After cell saga there was a 7 year period of peace which allowed gohan to pursue his academic goals. Hence why he slacked in training, buu saga he had amazing moments and so on. After the events of buu gohan went on and started working and stopped training. It all mixes well and it was a smart move by toriyama.
