Yes they DO think for themselves and I LOVE that! I learn so much from my dachsund and he's usually right!
I am on my sixth dachshund. Two of them have been put down for old age so we just had to get some more. The only problem that I’ve seen with these animals is that even though they are housebroken, as they get older, they tend to be territorial if there’s more than one pet and they will, relieve themselves in the house. I am constantly having to mop up baseboards. They only do this when they want to become territorial. Most of the time they will always go out on their own and they will be very loving and easy to work with. I don’t think I would own any other breed.
👩🦰💞🐶🐾 I really ❤ Dachshunds so much. I've had a black and tan mini dachshund years ago. Actually I have VELVET, a black and tan mini dachshund, 4⃣ years 11 months old and SASHA, a chocolate 🍫 and tan mini dachshund puppy, 5⃣ months old . They are adorable loyal friends, playful and funny. ❤Dachshunds, the best breed for me!

I have had 9 dachshund’s in my life,6 now and 3 others in the past. Out of the ones I have had,the boys are very well behaved and could not be better pets maybe besides the barking. The girl’s are stubborn and very temperamental but they don’t take any crap off of the boys. They are excellent hunting dogs and they are not afraid of anything no matter the size. Like most hound type dogs they are always hungry and will eat until you stop giving them food.
