Love them. My last one is gone now. Year's ago I had neck surgery and when I got home from surgery she would walk right next to me up and down the hall and touch her nose on my ankle to let me know she was right there. She walked with me to make sure I was okay. Great rehab for me. Love their cuddles and kisses.

The dachshund is not a lap dog, you can have all sorts of adventures with him, even though he is so small, or because he is so small, you can take him with you everywhere

The dachshund I grew up with was very well behaved, probably due to my parents. She didn't like a leash. The ones I had as an adult were not so well behaved. One of them almost got put on the dangerous dog register for nipping the ankle of the electricity meter eader. Greetings from Queensland Australia.
Mine is an excellent judge of character. If you're not trustworthy he knows it and will herd you towards the exit. His tntelligence and intuition amaze me. Angels led him to my door. A young longhaired dumped. Only the 2nd I'd seen in person but I knew what he was the moment I opened the door and he walked in like he owned the place. Turns out, he did. He's keeping my left hip warm like he has every morning since he found me. Chasing rabbits. So protective of me.
I love Dachshunds which is also known as Wiener dogs My Aunt Liz had 2 Dachshunds before the dogs passed away.
