I'm not quite sure people know what they're looking at here. No, that is not body filler or paint. Defenders are (and always have been) made of aluminum. What you're seeing here is the aluminum chipping off. This is actually very impressive. If the bonnet had been steel, it would've dented, fatigued, and then the screwdriver would've punched through. If you tried this with a Ford F-150 (which is also aluminum) the screwdriver would punch through.
I’m not sure you know what you’re looking at. That is body filler, homie. I’ve painted several of these vehicles and some were front end damage that got new fenders and hoods. They are aluminum but they are not that thick and aluminum does not chunk away like that. It would just dent, tear, or penetrate. That’s all body filler. What the hell are you talking about?
@@changkwonlee6174 looks like a back alley repair honestly. They didn’t metal finish it before applying the filler, blocked it out, primed and paint is what it looks like.
As a former body repairer, that filler job was repaired well, nothing wrong with the paint job either. It’s a Hell of a lot cheaper than having to purchase a new hood/bonnet lid.

Girls, what he's showing here is the automotive equivalent of caking on foundation to cover dimples. There was a dent and instead of bending it back, they just filled in the pit. Normally, you'd use a little bondo, but to smooth things, not as a substitute for reworking the steel.
Britain suffered a shortage of metalworkers after Brexit, so Landrover hired stonmasons to carve all their bodywork out of solid marble, they dont rust but the suspension has had to be uprgraded a bit.
I’m not a car guy and honestly don’t know what the implied context is here. a question for anyone who does know, if that is a repair why is it a bad repair? I mean you can’t see any abnormalities in the hood before he hits it and what aspect of normal wear and tear will this repair not hold up against? It looks pretty damn strong to me when he hits it so I’m genuinely curious as to what is wrong about it? if anyone knows?
To suggest an auto maker to bondo stuff up and shape it and prep it for paint in an assembly line and not to mention dealing with the dust it'd produce, etc is absurd! It's more cost effective to start with a blank stamped hood/bonnet. In other words, you purchased a crashed vehicle.
