For some people, a cup of tea is all that is required to restore them to a positive frame of mind; for me, it is Ceri Griffiths demonstrating a new technique. 😊
ILOVE YOUR VIDEOS. YOU ARE A FABULOUS TEACHER. I SPEND HOURS AND HOURS WATCHING AND REWATCHING. I AM GOING TO DO THEM ALL BY THE GRACE OF GOD. I AM 78 AND HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED ART. THANK YOU,❤😊
You made some gorgeous backgrounds, love them. Also love how generous you are to credit the people who inspire you. So many do not. Thank you, love your channel.
I do this with acrylic paints most often. I have done it with water color but it won't be as vibrant of course. I would do it with ink but that's not in my budget. Paints are less expensive by far. TFS Ceri, love to watch your videos. Hope you have a great day. 🌞
Love this technique and Shanouki Art! We did a swap and make with her years ago and made altered cards! We should do that for one of the upcoming collabs 🤩
This was awesome! The finished pages are beautiful! Adding that Aged Mahogany just made everything come together. You had, in the past, referred to Shanouki Art so I checked that out - you are so right - she, like you, makes wonderful art! TFS
I really enjoy your tutorials . You are very thorough and full of information. Including paints papers and reaction with other media. I really enjoyed this. TFS. Plus thanks for a couple of chuckles omg the way
I found you about a week ago and have been watching lots of your videos! I love the way you explain things and encourage us to try out new techniques. I have done several of your projects and love them! Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Big fan!! 😊
Thank you Ceri. As always you give some lovely, clear instructions with tons of wonderful tips along the way. I'm heading to the garage to pull out some file folders to give this a try! It's a treat to watch your videos. Sandi
This is a fun technique. In my experience you can't quite do this with watercolor paints. You get an interesting effect, but watercolors dry back WAY more. I know oxides dry paler, but I think the regular distress dries brighter. I enjoy mixing them. All but 1 of my regular distress colors are mini. I have used gloss gel medium on my gel plate for sealing. My tip is to try to get a thin but fairly consistent coverage.
So Beautiful, I love this look and colours. I have made these in the past using a scrunched up plastic bag, it makes the pattern of the ink, a finer pattern. Thanks for sharing, it is a very therapeutic session!
An interesting technique to try. I have a lot of archival inks that I inherited from my daughter-in-law that I may try this with. I think I need some backgrounds and I have a lot of junk mail that is a medium weight that I want to find something to do with. I think I can cover them enough and I can always cover something I don't like with collage papers. TFS
Thank you for sending me to ShanoukiArt. Oh, my, she is amazing! One day I will get up the courage to have a go and this is from someone who just doesn't do messy - you have a lot to answer for. Ceri🤣🤣🤣
Oh, this is so much fun! I used to do it but discovered the Patricia gel plate techniques. Your black smudge, the first one, looks like a bird.😃 Oh, there, you said it, and I noticed it too.
I watched this on my tablet and it is not easy to leave comments. Catching up on that. Thank you for another fabulous video. Your results are so lovely. So easy to make mud if you don't know what you are doing. Those oxides are magic huh? Many thanks.
Just an FYI: you can use Dorland's Cold Wax Medium or Tim Holtz Micro Glaze to seal the paper once dry. It would be much easier to do this on smaller pieces. I love all 3 papers, but the file folder gives a fantastic vintage feel.
Awesome background technique ❤ Seeing patterns or objects in a background or clouds, etc, is called pareidolia. It is fun to doodle out what you see and can have really interesting finished art. Thank you for sharing your art and methods.
What a treat. I worked my little part-time job (a canyon/community market) and came home to find a video from you. Another wonderful technique. I usually use my Distress Oxides on the gel plate (love the softness and how muted they become). So many techniques, so little time. This is what keeps us crafters going. As always, thanks for sharing. The papers came out great.
Thank you so much, Ceri. I love how your backgrounds turned out. Thank you, also, for the tip on file folders, that's great to know. This is video is very helpful. ❤
ModPodge does make a spray sealer that I have used to seal my colors and to seal my page after I've used Perfect Pearls. It works very well and isn't that expensive.
You are never boring. 🥰 I have way too many distress oxide inks, and I don’t use them enough. I have too much of everything. It drives me batty how much we have to pay for craft and art supplies in my country, so I should just stop buying any more. 🇨🇦🥺
Mr. Ceri, I found you through Miss Margreth from sevenplaza when she did your cover box to hold your tags and such. So, I went in search for your channel and found the two videos on the cover box. So now I subscribed to your channel, and you are in my favorites. So, I watched how you did this mix media ink and I thought maybe I could do it, so I will give it a try. I really liked the purple page; it reminded me of the Milkyway with black holes in the distances. Thank you for sharing and God Bless. 🥰💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍(🐞🌹🦂🌵)
Just started watching you, love this technique and your backgrounds are great! I’m going to do this and make a traveler’s notebook for an upcoming trip. I love “mooching” around craft stores as well 😅
I found your channel recently and so love watching everything you do. You have given me the courage to just try, if it works great, if it doesn't that's okay too. Did you have fun YES. You are amazing Thank you
Just saw the ink technique you did, very awesome how they came out, saw all the animals except the snail😂. Ive use lyndseys magical powders and they also make cool backgrouns, thank you for sharing
I too like to go to the stores to look. I notice since the pandemic and people buying on line, stores are carrying less inventory. Thanks for this tutorial, Ceri ❤️
I enjoyed this video. Did you experimented to do the same thing with acrylic paint and a glass (frame glass)? Maybe you can do it to show us how that goes. If it works. Thanks for sharing 😊
I’m thinking that this might also work with Distress paints because you can thin them down with water without losing the intensity of color, and they are also permanent when dry.
What a great way to repurpose the huge box of old Manila file folders from my office days. Thx so much for your creativity
For some people, a cup of tea is all that is required to restore them to a positive frame of mind; for me, it is Ceri Griffiths demonstrating a new technique. 😊
Lol…..thank you Jerald.
Me too.

You are so welcome!
Lol Ceri. I had to giggle when you said I’m British and can’t speak English very well. I feel the same as an American lol😂
Yup words fail me some days
These are so great!!! I love your features and you pulling out specific shapes like birds and snails!!! ❤❤
And......yet another marvelous Ceri creation! You are an excellent instructor and I’m always inspired by your creations. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much Barbara
You made some gorgeous backgrounds, love them. Also love how generous you are to credit the people who inspire you. So many do not. Thank you, love your channel.
Thank you so much, we are all inspired by others and learn our techniques by sharing.

Thank you I’ve yet to try it with paints but it’s good to know it works…..and yes ink can be expensive.
Love this technique and Shanouki Art! We did a swap and make with her years ago and made altered cards! We should do that for one of the upcoming collabs 🤩
Sounds great!
So fun to watch how you use the inks and paints for background. I will have to try it with the few inks I have.
Please do, it’s fun
So much fun should be illegal.Thank you, Ceri.
You are so welcome, thank you
Thank you for this video. I am going to try this next so I can make a stash of background papers. I enjoy you always.❤
Have fun!
I saw the bird when you did. I love cloud watching and have taught my grandsons. Love it 💙
Wonderful Sue

I hope you have a delightful day. Love&hugs to you and Biscuit ❤
Thank you! You too, Biscuits had to have a small surgery on one of his toes, nothing major but he’s a little grumpy at the moment.
Fantastic color combinations. Really beautiful outcome 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
So lovely watching these morph into such cool background papers!

Thank you! Can't wait to try this technique! I saw a hummingbird minus it's wings instantly and picture lacy 3D wings popping off the paper.
I love how we all see different things.
Thank you for sending me to ShanoukiArt. Oh, my, she is amazing! One day I will get up the courage to have a go and this is from someone who just doesn't do messy - you have a lot to answer for. Ceri🤣🤣🤣

Love watching the art come alive! Great tutorial Ceri! 😊

It does
Another great video Ceri ,thanks for sharing 😃

Thank you I’ve got Tim’s Glaze I think, it’s a wax like substance in a small pot I use to seal my water colour images.
I love this technique. I do it all the time but smaller scale just with an acrylic block. I need to find something bigger to try it with.
Wonderful
Love a bit of smooshing!
Don’t we all
Awesome background technique ❤

Thanks for watching Linda
Love it. As usual. Great work.
I appreciate that, thank you
This was an amazing tutorial!
Glad it was helpful
Very cool... will give it a try with acrylics/watercolour...I also don't have a lot of ink pads xxx
The water colours will not be as vibrant but the acrylics should be when dry.

Great swishings!
Thank you
Thank you for this video..i will try this techniek
Have fun
Great video Ceri
Thank you!!
Great tutorial 💝
Thank you! 😊
💜💜💜
Thank you Amy
You splatter and paint yourself like I do. Also have bugs and spiders show up in strange places. Makes me feel better.
Lol
I enjoyed this video. Did you experimented to do the same thing with acrylic paint and a glass (frame glass)? Maybe you can do it to show us how that goes. If it works. Thanks for sharing 😊
I haven’t as yet but I’m looking into alternatives.
These techniques work with dye inks. You wouldn't want to start with a regular pigment pad. It will work with many of the dye pigment combos.
Thank you Jesse
I’m thinking that this might also work with Distress paints because you can thin them down with water without losing the intensity of color, and they are also permanent when dry.
Good idea Sandy
Have you tried a spray fixative? Used a lot for colored pencil, chalk, pastels….? I wonder if that would work on this?
I’m going to try that, thank you
What about spraying the paper rather heavily with Fixative then Mod Podging?
I’ve thought of spray fixative but never tried it.
Water color paints, crayola markers will look similar. I coffee stained my index cards.
Wonderful
Actually, ive seen a TH-camr spray her ink pads with water when they are drying out. She gets more millage out of her ink pads that way. 😊
Interesting.
👍❤🇺🇸🥳
Thank you Sharon.
Thank you
I bought 75 folders for 1.99 at my local thrift store, some are sitting on my studio table waiting to be worked on. I will be doing this.
That is awesome!
@@CeriGriffiths I did this with a file folder yesterday afternoon and they turned out wonderful. Thank you for the video.
