Hi Chris, my highest score was 1.4 million and I was shocked! The ride stopped for a couple minutes in front of Zerg and the triangle behind his right arm, I kept shooting at it and racked up SO many points!! Love that ride! Thanks for sharing this with us and have fun traveling around the world with Amanda and Miles to all the Disneylands!! Sooo excited for you! Have a great Thanksgiving too!

A former cast member who used to work the attraction informed me that the higher the number on the ride vehicle, the better the calibration of the blaster. So if you get in and the ride vehicle says something like 5 on it, your laser is going to jump all over the place, which makes it harder to get a higher score, making the ones in the 70s and 80s the most accurate. Also, there is a hidden target where those scrabble pieces are. It doesn't light up when you shoot it, but your blaster will light up every time you hit it. My own personal way to get a high score, is to spin the ship to make sure it always faces a blue triangle as long as possible, making it so I'm almost always hitting the most valuable target for the most points. (Unless of course it is in a room with Zurg).😊
I used to ride this ride multiple times a week trying to get over a million points (which I totally did a couple of times) and really the best way to accomplish this is if you are lucky enough to experience any down time (when the ride stops moving) either right in front of Zurg or in front of a blue triangle. You can attempt to try to plan this by keeping an eye on guests in wheelchairs and electronic wheelchairs going on the ride, since it has to be slowed down or stopped for them to be loaded on or off. It's pretty tricky to time since they load from a different area, but the best way to do this is when the standby line is short. You either need to try and get on a couple of minutes before they do or after they do, to ensure you are a decent ways into the attraction once they are getting on or off the attraction.

@@artieo5339 I am planning to go to the Disneyland Resort again during Christmas 🎄, so be sure to tell me where the hidden target 🎯 is before I go. I think it's probably the scrabble piece with an explosion 💥 on it, since they wrote in the comment that the hidden target 🎯 doesn't light up when you hit it, but the back of the blaster lights up when you do hit the target 🎯. The back of your blaster will always light up when you hit any target 🎯. Please tell me after you have tried shooting the scrabble pieces, thanks 😊!

I just watched this video from 4 years ago. Wow! Anyway, my highest score was 433,000 and ranked 96. I can't imagine getting 1M or more like you have. How many times did you have to ride this ride before you knew all this hidden info stuff?
Thanks to this vid, I went from having less than 100 000 points... to having a high score of 373,600 points... not the best I have seen, but I'm happy! So a space ace is my highest rank.

i only saw the first 3 minutes of the video but im sure its referring to the little black ball target on the center of both zergs chest. its not lit up, almost looks like the end of a remote. the trick is you have to extend your blaster all the way up, directly up. dont lean forward or back just lift your arm up so the cord stretches the most, aim at zergs chest and shoot. you can see your red dot on him so focus on the center where the black ball is and if you see your points going up then youre hitting it., again the trick is to lift the gun up so it hits the target a lot of times.

Seriously, if Cameraman Greg could ride only one ride at Disneyland, it would be this one! Easiest to get on with Max Pass and once you use it, you may get another one right away.

Best BLAB video I have watched with most information! I want to share this video with my wife but I have to much fun betting her every time on this ride
Highest score: 2.3 million.
Highest score without slowing or stopping: 1.2 million.
Breaking a million without slowing or stopping is hard! To me they are different high scores.
About 39 times out of 40 I break 1M without stops. With stops (depending on location and duration), 2M is usually within reach.
I've gotten Galactic Hero twice at WDW, once without stopping and the other time I stopped at a good spot and kept scoring
7 million points?!! What, were they stuck on the ride for 2 hours?? Gotta love Buzz Lightyear, Great ride, Happy Holidays PPP!
I’ve also noticed that if you’re shooting a lit up target, you get that bonus, but as long as you only shoot that target, you’ll keep getting that bonus score until you shoot another… the one time I got a decently high score, I had stopped at a square target that was lit up…. Got 1.4ish million, but I stopped after hitting that 999999 because I didn’t think about getting going higher
I love Provost Park Pass. You guys are truly excellent.
Late to the party, but I found that the BLAB blasters in DisneyLand (land only!) actually have basic sights. They are just a simple groove along the top of the blaster, but if you look down the sights and line up the back of the groove and the front of the groove on the target, your shots will basically land close to where the sights are pointing. You will still have to adjust so the visible dot appears in the target, but the sights will get you lined up faster and save you 1-2 shots as you figure out where you're pointing.
Tip: if you stop in the dark tunnel, I there are 2 or 3 targets (you kinda have to find them) . I’m not sure what shape but you rack up a fair amount. Just wish that you stop there like I did
Buzz's blaster in the line lights up in all the versions of Astro Blasters, including Tokyo and the former Hong Kong versions. I don't know about Laser Blast in Paris though. Disneyland's is the only version where you get to know your score if you exceed 1M points while Tokyo's has a board which lists how many points each of the targets are worth before you get on the ride.

One cool fact is they utilized the old circle vision in the queue line for rocket rods to pay homage to a historic disney attraction without completely removing it

Chris - first off, your videos are fantastic! Grew up in Orange County so I was lucky enough to visit the park a lot as a kid and even worked there during college. I still love going as a (ahem) 'mature' adult. BLAB is one of our family's favorite rides but I am always ridiculed because of my ridiculously low scores. I will definitely be rewatching this video before my next trip in July and now that I know the secret, I will be focusing on those key targets. Wish me luck! And keep up the great work!
I rode rocket rods. It was so fun. As a 9 year old, I remember it feeling so much faster than EVERYTHING in the park and so futuristic.
I always get my most points from the hidden chest target and the last battery target.
Highest score is 1.9MM. I get over 1mm half of the time even without stopping. The actual secret to consistently get over 1mm is to have the same plan of specific diamonds & triangles. You should have over 200k after the first room over 400-500 after the first Zurg.

I just found a little Buzz Lightyear action figure hidden on the Astro Blaster ride. The cast members move it every now and again
Here's an important thing to know about scoring high on BL: once you exceed 1M points, the cruiser will simply display 999999. However, your score will continue to increase with each target you shoot. This is *critical* (and it's happened to me *countless* times): if your score exceeds ~ 2,096,000, it *resets.* That is, you lose *all* of your points and start over at zero. This didn't used to be the case; it seems to have changed about three years ago. Scores used to be unlimited. I've spoken with reps at Disney a few times about this (not cast members but actual corporate reps) and they insisted that it's intentional; that it's the way the ride was always meant to be. This explanation seems to me to be cover for a glitch in the code that they simply don't care to fix.
This is 💯 correct. But did you know in Florida it maxes out at 999999.

@@provostparkpass Agreed. I was at the Shanghai a few years ago. There's was far more modern but I still like DL's better. The same with their POTC. Visually, it was far more impressive than ours but it lacked the charm and the heart of the original.

As a teen my parents took my sister, myself and a friend of mine to Disneyland when the Circle Vision was still up and running. We all went in to the Circle Vision and when it showed the airplane my friend started falling down she ended up sitting in corner facing the wall she couldn't watch the Circle Vision.
I'm always a level 4 my friend gets sometimes to level 5. I use to play the game online when I was little.

The highest score isnt 7 million. My high score is 16.9 million. The highest score ever recorded is actually 17 million (that I know of). This was before the score board broke about 2 years ago. What I mean by 'broke' is any score that is greater or equal to 2,100,000 will not count for the score board. Instead your score is reset to 000, but you get 48 points aswell. So if you see a score on the score board that ends in a 48, then it is actually that score +2.1 million. With that said, if you go over 2.1 million twice (it's very possible), then your score gets another 48 points. You can use this to calculate your score once you get into the high millions. That's how I calculated mine. Theres secrets abt this ride that few people know, and thankfully none were mentioned here. Great video though 👍🏼
