I had a similar experience, but my child was abused. The "teacher" backhanded my then 3-year-old Son with scissors in her hand. His lip was split, so I demanded to see the camera footage because they claimed not to know what happened. Long story short, I reported it to child welfare. She was fired, and the school/daycare was closed down while the state investigated the whole program. I did press charges, and she was arrested for battery of a child, endangerment, and neglect. He never went to another "school" until kindergarten.

This is 'abuse', if you were a "mandated reporter", this would've had to be reported. Please you owe it to the other children to"protect" them too. You MUST report what you saw and let the proper authorities handle it before something happens to one of those children.

in most countries physically disciplining a child is not considered abuse and is the standard. until very recently, it was standard in the United States as well. Child abuse is subjective. what's "abuse" in america, is not considered abuse in most of the world.

How the workers dress is certainly a clue to the level of professionalism present. I would want them to dress so they could comfortably get down on the floor with kids, but bike shorts maybe not. Definitely pay attention to the vibe of the place and how many teachers there are per student, etc. The new facility sounds much better. Thanks for standing up for all the kids.

I would have filmed it from another device. I’m so very sorry this happened. My daughter experienced this recently with her 1 year old going to daycare. It was unreal and discovered by a friend who discovered something about what was happening to her own 1 year old and felt the urgency to warn my daughter.

They need to be reported to the state ASAP! That kind of grabbing can break a child's arm. I remember in one of your videos you asked Winter if she liked school and she said no. She just couldn't tell you why. So yes, for the other kids left without voices, they need to be reported before something tragic happens. Good for you both for making that quick decision to move her before physical or emotional harm was caused. ❤ ❤❤

Unfortunately, yes. My oldest daughter is 36 now, but the first daycare I took her to, she was abused to the point where she had to be taken out and everyone knew and nobody said anything. Being a nurse at the time, I picked up on it. Before she would get to the turn, she would cry. I cried when I found out to the extent that she was abused. It affected her to the point where she refused to talk to any teachers in Pre-k or the 1st grade. We had a rough time getting her to trust again. Now she has a 4 year old and scared to put him in school. I operated my own Daycare center for 14 1/2 years, besides being a nurse for 17 years. I explained to my employees that as a state licensed facility, everything was to be done by the book and it works if you do. Everyone I hired followed the law and I did everything for those kids. I had newborn thru 12 years and those kids still call me to this day and they are grown. They coming back to me to help take care of their kids. Of course, I’m to old to do it now, but I love kids. I took them on all kinds of learning field trips and eating places. Walmart use to invite us up to TV day for the kids where they set up a big screen in the deli area and played their favorite movies. They loved it. We were in the newspaper often, getting awards for just be a great daycare. I lived in the country, so we had a big play yard and more. Please watch for any signs of abuse. Report, report and report to the state licensing agency for daycares if you can prove your abuse. People today care about the money more than they care about the kids. Please be careful, call during the day, walk in unexpectedly during the day to see how things are going when you are not there. I was good friends with the sheriff and the fire department. They came out to teach the children what was appropriate to do and what was not. As educators, we taught them every single day. I’m so sorry you had to experience this. Glad you picked up on it early. She’s a sweetie pie. I pray it doesn’t affect her in any way. Kiss her for me. Aawww.❤❤❤❤❤😢

I worked in child care for many years, I'm glad this bad experience didn't turn you off daycare completely. Teachers in these facilities are often overworked and underpaid; sadly, many don't want to be there. I feel bad for parents that have no choice but to leave their children with these subpar teachers. I will say that there are a lot of good teachers out there who truly love children, but you've got to search for them. I'm glad you found out as soon as you did. Winter's a sweetheart and deserves so much better.

If she is sad and withdraws when she gets home, there’s a reason. I’m glad u found a better place and she’s happy. Just pay attention to any signs of discomfort.❤

I work with children k-12 and yesterday I was walking down the hall and I heard this sound behind me and it got louder and my thought was someone is trying to get my attention so I turned around it was a student who is autistic and nonverbal and she ran to me and gave me the biggest hug. Torie & Travis, always stay in tune with your child's schools & teachers, whether they have cameras or not! You were very lucky they had cameras and caught this early, many parents don't! But the best person to indicate there is a problem is your 'child'! Whether they are small or older, their behavior & moods will change. Just like Winter, she cried when you were taking her to school! Any 'Red Flags', don't bush it to the side, investigate why your child is crying, sad or upset. This is something that happens not only in pre-school but all the way up to higher grades of education. You have a ways to go, for that! Advocate not only for your child but for all children , as you said! Blessed Sunday!

I will never understand why and how people who are abusive, get to work with the vulnerable. I include our elderly in 'care' homes and the horrors some of them have also had to sadly encounter.
Abusers need to be charged and banned from working with any vulnerable or dependent beings, young and old.

I had the exact same experience. I watched the live feed all day. I took time stamped notes on what happened in the class and what time it took place. When I picked my son up, I asked the teacher how the day went? and she told me my son was out of control and hitting people. Little did she know I watched all day! And nothing like that happened. She hardly interacted with my son. I got my son and marched straight to the directors office with my notes. When I told them exact times teachers came in and out, bathroom breaks, food delivery etc. She knew I wasn't exaggerating about watching all day. She called the teacher in and explained what I saw and said. The teacher seemed embarrassed because she was caught lying. They offered to put my son in another class, but I declined. I told them I didn't want that nut to have access to my son in anyway. We switched to a different school also. Like you said, they don't think parents will watch the monitors. They think we'll just assume everything is great because they have monitors. Glad you also found a better school for your kiddo.

When I came to pick up my children from the lady’s house after working the night shift, I caught her force feeding my 4year old & she was crying. I told the lady off & Never talked to her again. Another time I had to report another nurse because she slammed an 80+ year old lady on her hand. I immediately reported her to the supervisor… it was a big deal, I had to talk to NY State & almost had to go to court behind it all. We have to be careful with our children & the elderly because people are EVIL.

I always say just show up, walk slow to the class and listen to how other teachers are speaking to children, and NEVER just walk in the room hang out of site for a moment and listen. omg! so sorry that happened. some people truly just go to work to make a pay check. they don't care about anything. I don't blame ya'll for being upset because kids can not protect themselves. some people don't realize but kids have a lot of sense, they know when they not being treated right, sure we don't expect the teachers to be like parents treat them at home but they expect the best, i'm so glad ya'll found a better school for Winter. A mess! hopefuly nothing really has to happen to those kids. people in charge like to push things under the rug instead of getting better workers that gives a care.

Torie and Travis what you can do is hired a private teacher to come to your home and teach winter that way you really can keep eye on her plus installed camera in room or better yet have her teach winter out in opening of your living room so you can really see whats going on. Even if its two or three days a week dont give up its very important to get her a head start if she is smart and easy learning.. my son loved 😍 it thats why enrolled him in 2 yrs of it. And he graduated with higher honors roll .he was into all kinds of achacceerate classes in school. He love it..😊so don't give up..👍🏾❤️

My daughter was attacked by one of the children. My sweetheart had bite marks on her chest, and her arm. The teacher should have seen that happening or the assistant working there. She had too many bite marks. I'm sure my daughter cried out. My husband lost it when I told him. So. he sued the school. This happened years ago. It is a good thing you can see the classroom while your child is present. You did the right thing taking your daughter out of the school. The incident occurred in Michigan.

Travis and Torie I understand you, when my son was younger, one morning I was getting ready to drop him off at daycare, I turned and looked back at him. He wasn't making any sound, but tears was rolling off his face. I asked him what was wrong? My son didn't speak that well. But by the grace of God my son spoke clear that morning. He told me, "they are mean to me when you leave". I turned my car around. I cried all the way home on the phone talking to my husband. More to this story, we were hurt, but in the end it turned out that everything worked out well for us.

I am sorry your child had to experience that and I'm glad you notice something was out of line. I had several experience with my daughter when she started attending pre-school they were treating her harsh and the teacher was giving me all these stupid excuses and I told her I don't hear it, you got the wrong 1. I pulled her out that school immediately. Then the bus driver 1 day brought my daughter home and she wanted to talk to me about how abusive the bus aid was being towards my daughter everyday till she couldn't take anymore.
Tears swell up in my eyes because I love my daughter so much and all I could think of was how long was this going on and she told me she asked for her to be removed. Finally what broke the camel back with me was when I was called in by a school about an employee they had employed and a teacher there was noticing something strange about this person he was trying to sexually abuse my daughter and I literally went off looking for that fool and I told them if i find him no telling what I'm going to do. Then they try calm me down saying we got this situation under control no worry.and I said u better because u don't want my ugly side to come out so I feel for some of these parents especially in cases like mine that have children with any kind of disabilities.

I’m so happy you guys were able to place her in a different environment immediately! I wanted to share my story. My daughter was enrolled at The Salvation Army Hope Center. When we toured the facility, there were zero red flags. There were a few times that I dropped her off and you could hear her crying.(When you walk in, there’s the receptionist area, behind the first door is a hallway or anti room and then the next door after the anti room are the classrooms. That should have been my reason to remove her, but I blamed separation anxiety. Fast forward a few weeks, I go to pick her up and I’m rushing because she has a doctor’s appointment. It’s a little nippy outside, so once I have her strapped into her stroller, I brush her hair back to put her hood on her head. I felt something wet and when I looked at my hand, there was blood! I immediately turn around and head back to the building. I ask for one of the ladies that watches her. When she came out front, she asked if I forgot something. I said no, but you all sure did! What the heck(PG version) happened to my daughter?! She tells me that they were in the gross motor skills room and this couldn’t have happened in there. I told her she needed to show me how my daughter could have injured herself on soft items. She failed to offer up a reason. When I spoke with the director of the daycare, she said they could only write up an incident report and not an accident report, because no one knew what happened to her. When I allowed cooler heads to prevail, I asked for a copy of the report so that I could lodge a complaint. She reluctantly provided it and covered the names of the people who were charged with watching her. I called my daughter’s pediatrician, I explained why I was running late and was told to bring her in as quickly as I could, so that she could be assessed. Her doctor said that the cut on her forehead was from her hairline to the middle of her forehead. She also said that had the cut been 5cm deeper, she would have needed stitches. Sufficed to say, that day was her last day there and I lodged a complaint. Because I had evidence as well as a doctor’s note/report, the complaint was expedited. Due to the complaint, I found out they were cited a lot of times for failing to have the correct number of caregivers for the ratio of children. They were also given multiple verbal warnings about everything from the staff to how they interact and deal with the kids! They were in so much trouble! After I filed the complaint, the director tried to scare me into saying nothing happened. She told me she thought we were good friends(because she drove us home one night). Lol. She told me that I was gonna cost her her job. I chuckled and told her she would’ve had to have done this considerably longer than my child was enrolled, for the blame to be mine. I found a home daycare and the woman who cared for the kiddo was a retired elementary school teacher, so my daughter was preschool ready at age 2 1/2! I didn’t enroll her, but it was wonderful to know she was utilizing her teaching experience to help the kiddos in her care to excel!

When my son was very young i only trusted my mom and twin sister to watch him then i enrolled him in preschool for two years because i was a stay at home mom then i decided to volunteer as reading for class that ease my mind so that i can see what was goings-on. And i really did it i volunteer in PTA, at his school for from preschool on til 4th grade as a teachers helper. And all the kids told my son you have a cool 👩🏽 mom they would come over after school and do their homework with my son. If they need help, and when my son was in high school he was a hig high honor roll and the teacher ask him if he want to stay after school and help volunteer to students that need help so he did. He graduated 🎓 and went six years of college and he a supervisor at his job. His iq in school was 6.6. Im very proud of him and still is he just turn 30 yrs old .last week..

And I hope all of the other parents pulled their children out of the school immediately as well. This type of aggressiveness and abuse is so traumatizing and effects a child's life into adulthood. Fortunately, you were able to detect that this was happening. Hopefully, the State will investigate this school and close it down. These teachers should never be allowed to work as teachers or daycare workers again. They should also be arrested as this type of aggressive behavior is assault on these small children.
