Outstanding!!! I love hearing the power and grandness behind this song when Gert plays it. Thank you, Gert and Marjolein for making my weekend even better. I love these little treasures you give us.
How many times did I listen to this majestic piece, my three daughter’s different Graduations, from Kindergarden to University….. It will never get old. Played by such a capacity as Gert is, it makes all the difference.
Oh wow! I can't explain but I'm smiling and crying at the same time. So powerful. So moving. Gert you seem to get right inside the music so that we feel every nuance of emotion intended. Loved watching the footwork too!!
Well, Gert and Marjolein, you walked us all down the aisle once again while blowing the dust bunnies out of those organ pipes. Awesome power in both the song and your playing. Thanks for the extra boost to our spirits this weekend. Love the way you both look and smile at each other; easy to tell you are in love and best friends. Blessings!!
Bravo! Bravo! Elgar would stand up and cheer. Don't know about Nederland, but here in the US every graduation, especially college and graduate school, medical school, etc., play this as a processional. Lots of flowing robes and all the professors donning the most amazing array of their own university's robes and hats, followed by the students. Lots of "Pomp and Circumstance." Beautifully done. Wonderful to see Marjolein handling the critical registrant job and also enjoying it all.
I grew up listening to this on 78 rpm records. And at my graduation in 1970 . I admire your talent very much. Our organist at our church taught many like you and started lessons at 9 years old her self . She was our organist for 31 years. Thank you for your dedication I give my best to you and your family, Danny
Thank you Gert! This work means so much to people born in England. And it is so gracious of you - a magnanimous Dutchman - to play it with such commitment, verve and splendour. It brought tears to my eyes, and will make many others weep to hear "Land of Hope and Glory" so gloriously played by one of the great organists of our time. God bless you and Marjolein and your little fellow.
I love that you choose Elgar for some of your concerts. Not much came out of England during that era, so thankful Elgar and all his pomp and circumstance!
Nostalgia -- with a capital "N" !!! Here in the USA the middle portion is often used for commencement processionals, and the more bombastic end portion for recessionals (including mine over 60 years ago!). Thanks for capturing and portraying all of the pomp, circumstance, and energy of this wonderful piece on that magnificent instrument !!!
After watching all your videos my analysis is that you not only master the instrument but I am sure you were the person who invented the pipe organ. You are brilliant. I will always listen. love your expressions.
Played at the last night of the Promenade Concerts in the UK every year! Performed with a full orchestra, but there is a very fine organ in the venue, the Royal Albert Hall. Anton Bruckner, Charles-Marie Widor, & Camille Saint-Saens have all played it. The original organ was built by Henry Willis & Sons in 1871. It has four manuals, 9,997 pipes and 147 stops.
How very appropriate in this the weekend that marks Queen Elizabeth II 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne 🇬🇧 Although the organ is not as powerful as Liverpool cathedral's. 👏👏👏
Senti-me agora em Londres ouvindo você tocar. Quanta sensilidade, heim, Gert?!.
Today marks ten years since my high school graduation. I myself can play this song on my own organ at home, which I’m currently sitting at. I only know movement two, but that’s the most familiar part of the song, used in high school graduation ceremonies across America.
+SeanNCraleigh *Actually, the "Pomp & Circumstance" to which ye refer is mistitled.* "Land of Hope and Glory" is actually pulled out of a seven-movement piece: *FINALE: LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY, Op. 44 No. 7 / from ODE FOR THE CORONATION OF THEIR MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTIES KING EDWARD THE SEVENTH AND QUEEN ALEXANDRA OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN ISLAND AND OF THEIR OTHER TERRITORIES: COMPOSED FOR THE GRAND OPERA SYNDICATE, FOR THE STATE PERFORMANCE AT COVENT GARDEN* (Edward William Elgar/Arthur Christopher Benson) Boosey & Hawkes, MCPS-PRS
As an American mother, hearing this brings me tears of joy thinking of the multiple graduations I’ve attended (the youngest graduated from university last week). Beautifully played, Gert, with your lovely bride by your side!
Wonderul, powerful performance! I really love this piece of music! Well done Gert. Could you play this one in another livestream concert please? That would be awesome!
Gert. May I suggest that in your listing of concerts and CD's you have produced you put English titels. Not everyone speaks Dutch, unfortunately, but there are many who speak English who might like to know the titles and locations of your works, of which there appear to be so many. Just a thought, Nice recital though the organ doesn't have the bass line to support the Pomp in this piece.
Interesting comparisons of Gert's playing superbly this same piece of music on different instruments: 2015 Hervormde kerk, Enter; 2017 Hooglandse kerk Leiden and Victoria Hall Hanley; 2018 here in Belgium, 2020 Ichthuskerk Urk. Always superb.
Top 'Elgar' !
Outstanding!!! I love hearing the power and grandness behind this song when Gert plays it. Thank you, Gert and Marjolein for making my weekend even better. I love these little treasures you give us.
What a great team! and a great song.

You both looked like you thoroughly enjoyed it..and so did we !! Marvellous 😀
You take us out of our daily routine with this great performance, Gert. Thank you for posting this uplifting piece!
Oh wow! I can't explain but I'm smiling and crying at the same time. So powerful. So moving. Gert you seem to get right inside the music so that we feel every nuance of emotion intended. Loved watching the footwork too!!

I don't know why since I've heard the piece a thousand times before, but Gert's playing of it is raising my hairs (les frissons!)
I love that you choose Elgar for some of your concerts. Not much came out of England during that era, so thankful Elgar and all his pomp and circumstance!

Dear Gert; you're so good you're almost definitive.
I love it when you smile.
I've been watching you for 20 plus years.
Wonderful! Thank you very much for sharing your amazing talent with us and making our weekend great again. Heartfelt gratitude from San Francisco! 🙏
Brings back memories of my daughter’s graduation with a MS in dietetics. Sadly posthumously.

liked this as the ending of your "impro" at Liverpool Anglican, with Prof Tracey giving a helping hand😁
Wat een prachtig stuk👌
Mooi gespeeld Gert en goed geregistreerd Marjolein.
Mooie kerk en orgel👍
A very spirited performance of this march. In the United States, this is the procession played at every high school and university graduation ceremony
