Interesting conundrum here: someone so wide-eyed and hopeful, fighting for the poor and disenfranchised, is going to be wasted in the current political system, her energy will be dissipated by the weight of corruption, but if a critical mass of such people all get into Congress then they would totally NOT be wasted and would be a huge benefit to society. So I hope New Yorkers can get more than one progressive into Congress.

Hi Alexandria, i just donated to your campaign. I would like you to incorporate not just free tuition but the idea of student debt forgiveness for public AND private employees. My generation, we missed the boat on free tuition. Private employees dont always make enough money to make up for lack of debt forgiveness. A lot of people in NY-14 are first generation college grads, and even if we get to a point where we can donate to campaigns (like myself) we are extremely inhibited in our ability to donate to our communities and political campaigns due to the debt burden.

Those high tax rates give you, and your children, and grand parents, free healthcare for life ... and when compared to the US system ... the average US citizen would save thousands upon thousands of dollars by not having to pay health insurance, despite the higher tax rates [exacted on only those that could afford it anyway]
And their mental health would be drastically improved by never having to worry about what would happen if they caught a nasty illness.
You live in a country of mass shootings. That's the choice YOU made.
That means you have a situation where an innocent survivor can be shot - get taken to hospital and undergo expensive surgery - not be able to pay for it - and commit suicide due to the shame of not being able to afford the medical care.

Alexandria Casio Chavez comes from an upper middle class community, attends a bourgeois university and now a member of congress. Has an economic degree from Boston University graduated cum laude, yet ended up as a bartender? How? Wants everyone else to live in poverty. Wears a $3,500 USD outfit to a photoshoot with construction workers. I'd really like to have her life gone through with a fine tooth comb to make sure she lives by the ideology she wants for everyone else. So she can't use a car, fly in a plane, use grid electric power, only purchase local grown foods, no meat, no dairy, no coffee, no tea, no cigarettes, has to wear locally produced domestically sourced earth environmentally friendly clothes, all hygiene, makeup and cleaning supplies environmentally friendly too. Lives in a place that is just big enough for her, is sustainable as well, reduces her pay to a meagre amount and totally lives as she believes we all should. Then I might consider her plan after she's done that for two years. I bet she can't. The idea of welfare from taxes (to pay for hospitals and ambulances and doctors) instead of giving billions yearly to insurance companies is a sound one. I loved this, but disagree with her about how some things will inevitably be manufactured offshore. That's the old message from big corp. Sure, by abusing people somewhere else they can get cheaper labor, but that doesn't mean it's ok. Corporations that can make profit by manufacturing here _will_ still seek BIGger profit offshore, but that is where regulation comes from. It is in the interest of society to maintain good paying manufacturing here. There's all sorts of incentives that we can apply. If someone manufactures offshore they shouldn't be treated like an American manufacturer. We need to take back control of the government for the people, by the people. We aren't talking about making big business non-profitable, just less disgustingly rapacious.

Imagine you saw a fire ... and called out the firefighters ...
This scenario happened to me a few weeks ago ... at 3AM, I saw some bins on fire ... and I alerted the fire authorities ... by the time they arrived ten minutes later, the flames were 6 feet tall and threatening my whole neighbourhood, at least 40 souls at risk ...
I directed the fire truck when it arrived 10 minutes after my call ... it took 2 of the crew to douse the flames; they did so completely silently ... no "bedside manner" at all ...
... not a word spoken, but they were AWESOME.
Seeing those firefighters work was definitely one of the highlights of my life.
Socialism - whether fire or germs or climate change WILL extend your life ... even if you don't vote for it.
