Dublin city actually only has about 600 000 people not 1.2 million which is why it looked small from the air. They are two entities called dublin ,the city and the county. The county including dublin city has a population of 1.5 milion alot of that is rural so thats where 1.2 million . I think you will find that most cities are like that the official population almost never relates to actual one for example Paris has 2million within the city limits whereas in reality the population is probably three times that
You're mistaking administrative city boundaries (Dublin city council) with the actual urban area (the one visible from the sky); Dublin's urban area is actually somewhere between 1.2 and 1.4 million (source OECD, Eurostat, Dublin Chamber of Commerce...). The Dublin metro area, which includes rural Dublin and satellite towns and villages in surrounding counties is 2.1 million. Paris metropolitan area is around 12 million. The other consideration is the layout of the city, Dublin is mostly low rise, which gives the impression that it's smaller than it really is.
The population of Dublin and its metropolitan area is two million people, If you take in people who Work in Dublin and have an effect on the Dublin city economy it's close to 3 million....30 Million people pass through Dublin Airport every year, that will give you the size of the Dublin metropolitan economy..........
@@AtlasUnlimited I went last year. A dear friend was dying of pancreatic cancer. I am hoping to go back this autumn to visit his wife. We all lived in the same building for years. However, my daughters and grandkids live on the west coast and we haven’t seen them in two years. I’m not sure if the budget will stretch that far.
