I was helping with the National Prayer Breakfast when Mother Teresa spoke that day... she had been briefed by Clinton's staff that she could talk about anything, except abortion. Well, as you can see that woman stood up there and spoke about abortion and the ramifications. It was so amazing. Prior to her entry a step stool had been put next to the podium so she could be see over it.... once she went to stand on it she was still too small, so they had to find yet another stool to do the job. She could barely see over and we could barely see her behind the huge microphones. She gave no notice and boldly stood up there and spoke what was on her heart. The Clinton's were stone faced the entire time and did not clap. When she was done the entire room erupted with clapping and a standing ovation. I have to say it was a memorable moment... the privilege of seeing Mother Teresa, and the obvious awkwardness of the Clinton's.
As Mother Teresa points out so honorably, the moment that the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, greeted St. Elizabeth, her cousin with child, the child in her womb (St. John the Baptist), leapt for joy." What a strong Pro-Life Statement. The unborn baby leaps for joy at the arrival of Mary, with the "Word Incarnate"! Jesus and St. John perceive each other's presence, BEFORE they are born. The miracle of LIFE in each of them, is the profound statement to all of US!
"I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?" Courage? Courage means she would have feared some consequence... compared to what she chose to do at 18 years old on the streets of Calcutta and then continue for 60+ years, if she didn't have her eyes fixed firmly on Christ she would have given up a long time ago... She is one of the most outstanding of outstanding examples for us to follow...

Isn't abstinence technically a form of contraception? Priests and nuns are sworn celibates. If "contraception destroys the power of loving", then that speaks something for the Church. Not much, but enough to say it's hypocritical.
