  • ***ATTENTION!!! UPDATE!!! - WHEN REMOVING YOUR AIR CYLINDER YOU NOW MUST LOOSEN ALL 3 SET SCREWS INCLUDING THE MIDDLE ONE THAT PLUGS THE HOLE WHERE THE TRANSFER PORT WAS DRILLED THROUGH. YOU MAY HAVE THE SHORTER SET SCREW THAT IS NOT ENGAGED BUT BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY SO JUST GET IT OUT OF THERE! I SAY AGAIN ALL 3 SET SCREWS MUST BE REMOVED***
This video show how to safely depressurize and remove the air cylinder. Also some do it yourself end cap removal tools for the exhaust valve and intake valve ends of the cylinder. I explain my new vice setup past and present and of course reinstallation of the air cylinder.

I cannot thank you enough for your step by step guidance on maintaining a Hatsan Flashpup QE. My flashpup QE (Synthetic) was leaking at the base of the air cylinder. I returned it to Hatsan and they fixed the leak. Two weeks later it is leaking again. Instead of paying for shipping and waiting for rifle to be repaired, I followed your instructions on how to remove the shroud, cylinder (3 set screws) and removal of the end of air cylinder. As soon as I unscrewed the end of the cylinder, the O-Ring fell out (torn in two). Previously, I ordered all of the o-rings recommended per another video and I was able to replace the air cylinder o-ring. All of the o-rings on the air cylinder were nicked or cut, I assume this occurred at the factory. Regardless, thank you for providing excellent assistance to those of us that enjoy shooting and can now repair/maintain their Flashpup QE.

Your videos are superb in every way imaginable--I've watched many of them. However, I've got to say that this video just made up my mind that no, I'm not going to even try to insert a regulator into my beloved Flashpup .25 QE Syn (after shooting tens of thousands of pellets), no matter how badly I want the increased precision from a regulator. I can't even imagine machining a custom 4-foot breaker bar and another custom machined rod just to open the air cylinder--and then having to go through this entire procedure over and over (even if it's slightly easier after adding grease) to adjust that regulator. Thanks muchly for your patient, highly informative videos.

another tip, its not really necessary to remove the 3 screws from the breech and remove the valve from breech. The trigger mechanism will be in your way however to work on the filing section. You can remove the valve if it makes your life easier. However to tune the regulator going forward I recommend not removing the valve as its just going to cause further problems with the o-rings inside the breech. You should be able to unscrew the cylinder unless you put it on with he-man strength which isn't necessary at all. Remove the cylinder and likely at this point the o-ring from regulator will probably be stuck to the valve, you can probably leave it there. after cylinder removed, remove regulator and make adjustment, make sure tiny lube is still on o-rings and the lip of the regulator and then re-assemble. This will save a whole lot of hassle. If you dont mind the noise while adjusting leave the shroud off.

I recommend you don't remove the shroud the way he did it. It is too inconsistent feeling. dis-assemble the QE shroud paying very careful mindset of the order the baffles and plastic pieces removed. Set them aside in the exact same order and orientation as you removed them (this is important!). Then use a 9/16 socket with extension and undo the nut and slide it out easily. Do the process in reverse to re-assemble, it is very fast and feels better.

after looking closely at the 3 set screws. the rear one farthest from trigger goes into a recessed hole, the middle one goes in a recessed hole, the one closest to trigger just presses up against the valve tube. only back out the middle hole completely. the other 2 grub screws back out until even with stock that is enough to escape the rubber o-rings when you pull it out (don't bother remove them, is hassle to put back). On re-assembly look down the middle hole for alignment with the recess in the valve hole. You don't have to remove that middle screw but its good probably to remove for alignment. When re-inserting use silicone grease and be careful not to gouge o-rings on the holes as you can cut into the o-rings if you are not careful, I gouged both of mine on re-insertion. The o-rings seat past the first and second holes from the trigger.

holy moly how you get that air cylinder out of your block so easy. i'm really struggling here. yours basically fell out or you have some super human strength you are hiding. This comment was due to the fact I didn't understand/read his attention message. You have to disengage the middle set screw. On another note if you don't disengage these screws you can likely unscrew the cylinder without a vise, I did.

Thanks man. Was looking for how to de-gas my Vectis. I’m betting it’s the same as it’s just a lever action flash power plant.

I enjoy listening to your videos while I work on and shoot my airguns. It's like having a friend over during these Coronavirus isolation times. Thank you.

Man! Your channel is the best! You seem like such a nice person that would be awesome hanging out with. I struggled to even get the complete assembly out and suspected that the middle screw was the culprit. However, I did not need the additional tool that you made to unscrew it because that one was already greased and easy to unscrew :D Love your content and hope you show up again soon!

Great Video for being able to inspect/replace & lube the air reservior O-rings...however - ALL 3...yes THREE, grub screws need to be removed along with the post in order to remove the tank. I sat there for 20min trying to pull, pry, and drive the tank loose until i removed the large (3mm or 4mm i can't remember) grub screw and the cylinder slid right out.

Thanks so much for posting this. You hit allot of important points. I wasn't patient enough and already removed mine to install a regulator. What a nightmare. I had a few fails before I was able to get it loose but I learned allot in the process. After removing the pressure tube and valve I ended up placing the valve end in a standard vice with two pieces of dense rubber floor tile as cushions to prevent marring. I needed to use a heat gun to warm up what I assume is Locktite and then used a strap wrench to grip the pressure tube (actually two) and after lots of sweat, I was able to break the seal. The strap wrench kept slipping at first, that's why I ended up using two. My other strap wrench was a rubber one and that seemed to help with grip but the nylon one was stronger. After the first break, subsequent loosening is much easier.

Great to see another video. I've done a lot of shooting lately but no videos. I did throw one together of some old clips last week. I always look forward to your videos, you do a great job with really useful info.
